My cactus collection is still outside but soon, most of them will be moved inside my greenhouse. Here is one last update before I make changes for the winter.

    I’m so happy to see you back, Ana! Thank goodness Shadow is recovering well, I can’t imagine how stressful that must have been.
    Ariocarpus are self-sterile for the most part but it doesn’t hurt to try pollinating it anyway. With successful pollination the fruits will appear in about 6 months. You will see the fruit emerge beneath the spent flower bud. Talk about needing patience with Ariocarpus!
    And your yard looks amazing! Love the new turf!

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  10 місяців тому +6

      6 months for the fruit to develop?! Argh. Ariocarpus should be nicknamed Ariotortoise. It does everything so slow. 🤣

    Thankyou for showing us your Cacti. Warts and all. loved that "Black" flower. I have something similar but not ever flowered yet. Some green shade attached to that wall and propped out with bamboo or similar should work on that too sunny edge, easy to put up and down too.

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  10 місяців тому

      Thank you. I should have explained it in the video but in the garden against the wall, the sun shines from the sides and infront, not from the top. The garden is at a weird angle from where the sun rises. 😄

    TY for the comprehensive update - always you share in a teaching way, & learning is why I follow! Beware the turf ( I have it, too in CA Inland Empire area), “Love my Plastic Grass!” But it’s too hot in summer sun for bare feet. Even burns thru socks - get leather booties for Shadow if he wants to be out there in hot summer. 💕 ( but it’ll cool down by Grilling Time).

    Wow!! Great video Ana!!! Sorry to hear about your dog getting hurt!! Scary!! We love our dogs & cats!! Hope he gets back to feeling better!! I am down a bit myself. Just had quadruple hernia surgery. Deb is helping me keep the greenhouse and stove going. Love the fact that you have made your yard water wise!! Less foot print on the desert water supply! So very wise!! More people should follow your lead in places like Nevada, Arizona, so. California. So much smarter!! Love it!! In your sun scorch area, is there any way you could put a couple of small anchor points on the wall, I know some use a super adhesive to stick to the blocks. Like how you hung the Talovera pottery on the wall If so, make two on the wall and make a triangle piece of shade netting tied off to the trunk of the palm tree. Maybe this would make a shaded area here. Love the way that austrocylidropuntia has grown!! What a beauty!! Your yard seems like a great place to hang out!! Cool plants and great BBQ!! Awesome!! I don't have any ariocarpus anymore since scale killed them out, but as I remember, they are self fertile. Blooming in the fall, fruit forming next season. So if you stir up the pollen a bit, you will probably see fruit next season!! Thanks for sharing Ana!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, out to Las Vegas, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🌸🌹🌴🪴🌿💐🌳🍀🌱🌻🌾😃👍

    Great video, so many beautiful cacti and the flowers sowwwww pretty!! So glad Shadow's okeey. i also take care of my dad. He sometimes has a hard time and cries because he thinks he is a burden to me. I try to make it clear to him that he is not a burden, but that I am happy that I can take care of him for once, while he has taken care of me all his life. He is my hero and we should take care of our parents (I think) as they did with us. Up to your next video. Moving the cacti in the green house. Take care 😍🥰

    Maybe when it gets too hot you can just lay a shade cloth over them. Is that possible?

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  9 місяців тому

      That’s what I do but then again, I don’t see my plants anymore because they will be covered by a shade cloth for at least 5 months. 🤣 So I prefer an overhead shade so I can still see them. Just have to figure it out. 😃

    The tall one in the ground. Do they requireore water? I have one and i can see how fast its growing in a pot.. Im going to repot it in an 8in pot this summer.

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  7 місяців тому

      It will grow faster with frequent watering. It grows fast because it is a tree cactus. Keeping it in a small pot or not watering as often will slow its growth.

    Common names create a lot of confusion. A good example of this is every tail cactus. I always encourage my followers to use the scientific names 🫡 that way they will know for sure which cactus is wich.
