Hey everyone hope you enjoyed this even if I am going at the speed of lightning, guess that's what happens when you make your coffee with red bull instead of water!
Hilburt bro just finished my Tudor a level - absolutely smashed it feeling great all thanks to this last minute crammer on Elizabethan policy - came up as an extract question - thank you so much great videos dude !
So I am an English student from Spain that had to do a research project about Elizabeth I and gosh you speak so fast it's pretty difficult for a foreign person to understand you, but the video was really helpful after watching it a few times.
This video is very useful and informative. However, as usual with English-made documents, it failed to mention the English Counter-Armada which was a great victory for Philip II of Spain and a costly failure for the court of Elizabeth. After Elizabeth’s death, the Anglo-Spanish war ended with a stalemate and James I have Sir Walter Raleigh executed for provoking hostility towards Spain.
It's unfair how much Mary is painted in a bad light. Her father sent her to be a lady-in-waiting to Elizabeth in attempt to make her life miserable. It didn't work, she actually enjoyed being with her little sister and played with her frequently. Mary wrote to her father saying “My sister Elizabeth is in good health, and such a child toward as I doubt not but your Highness shall have cause to rejoice of in time coming.” and encouraged him to see Elizabeth more. To say she hated Elizabeth is completely inaccurate. It was only Anne Boleyn she hated.
Knight Source that's actually a good point, Mary looked after her like a mother to a child if I recall correctly 😂 it's all in like the only history book I've ever read :')
You were going so fast you didn't even have time to mention W. Shakespeare ;-) Not only is Elizabeth very important in her own right, but this is fascinating to an American as the lead-up to James VI of Scotland becoming James I of England and initiating England's overseas colonizing efforts by planting lowland Scots and English settlers in Ulster. That is an event that led to the formation of the 'Scots-Irish' identity and their emigrating to the American colonies a century later, with consequences social-cultural-political that continue to reverberate in the US to this day.Have you addressed the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre of French Protestants? Would be interesting to learn more about how and why it was organized and how many people were murdered.
Kyrgyz Jeff Well, British wasn't even a thing until 1707 or so. At this time, there was no UK. British isn't a nationality btw, it's a geographical location. The Nations are England, Scotland, and Wales.
WHOSE HERE IN 2024 GOOD LUCK!!!❤️

Hilbert put 17 minutes of information in a 10 minute video, that's why he's talking like that, definitely not too much red bull or anything like that.

Mary did not hate her. Mary loved both of her half-siblings. It's well documented that she cared for both of them.
Kay no.
It's unfair how much Mary is painted in a bad light. Her father sent her to be a lady-in-waiting to Elizabeth in attempt to make her life miserable.
