Most people I know that like heavy music, know of Sunn O))). But very few listen to the and even fewer buy their material. I like being in the select few.
I love finding more dense heaviness of this caliber by SUNN O))). And knowing that Dylan Carlson played on this makes it all that much more dominating.
Is there a trombone in there too, or just some weird signal clipping in the amps? Like 14:53 ...nah after some listening I have to conclude no brass man could produce such a tone, not from his mouth at least...
I get that Dylan Carlson hadn't been playing metal for years by the time of this collab, but could he really not come up with anything besides clearly just Seven Angels again? Edit: Seems that Carlson played on a different song, so I guess this is just Sunn's tribute?
It really is sub-bass art music, some would say at its best. People who understand this don't really conceptually map to 'fans' per se, more like audiO)))philes anyway, don't expect anything like this to be very prominent or popular.
I mean, it's good, but its the exact riff from Seven Angels by Earth. I am aware that Sunn O))) have stated they wouldn't even be making music without that album, but this is just ripping it off. Sure, it's intentional, but that doesn't make it good.
Put this on guitar hero
Misses the first note and has to wait 11mins for it to come back
This music is great when I write a book! It gives a cold and terrible atmosphere!

Uruk Hai played the guitars!

I really wish Beavis and Butthead would comment on this.
"Hey, Beavis... Your tape doesnt work. Uh huh "
"No ..no!! I think like... Time just stopped , Butthead!"
"Oh, yeah.."
Hey those are riffs from Orthodox Caveman.
that pic inspires me so much, must make own cave music, must draw cave pictures
i want to be right in front of a wall full of speakers and what not listening to this full blast or live same thing
Oh if the descent to hell had a soundtrack fitting this was it
That model T SUNN head is just the ballsiest amplifier ever made
This reminds me of Earth - 2 album from 1993 :D
Dylan Carlson is assisting with guitar on this recording
Amazing

Yes. Steve Moore
So, not from his mouth, but maybe from his schwanz?

i love the comments
Is this sludge, doom or drone? asking for a friend..

uh... yes?
not either/or my friend... BOTH-AND
Powerchord porn.
Every other band sucks now.
if there are any true fans for this band just keep it underground. this sounds like someone tuning their guitar honesty...
Its experimental music like John Cage, think of it as more of an abstract art piece rather than something to sit down and listen to all the time.
I often listen to Sunn O))) exclusively while studying. Damn near perfect for that imo.
It really is sub-bass art music, some would say at its best. People who understand this don't really conceptually map to 'fans' per se, more like audiO)))philes anyway, don't expect anything like this to be very prominent or popular.
hard same. drone is the one thing that shuts up the constant rambly thoughts i have enough for me to focus
But I also genuinely enjoy them.

This is a recording of a live show where Dylan Carlson played with them, so I would imagine it's him playing his riff.
Tfw you hear this and doesn't think it sounds cool as hell
