I love the details regarding prevention of the bump and roll, because I love that head-trap position from the mount (shamelessly using by weight haha). I also noticed that it potentially baits your training partner into setting himself up for my favorite submission, the head and arm triangle...can't wait to try out these details. Awesome video, and I love that the techniques are gi and no-gi applicable.
absolutely perfect setup and details..best armbar vid out there..i quite often get to mount then cant submit or do much with a defending opponent as a whitebelt..
I always have problems with the "kickstand". I'm a big guy and I always feel like I'm sitting on that leg and can't get it out, around, and over my training partner. You guys make it look so easy, I have to be doing some little detail wrong. I'm going to try that "right ear on the knee" detail. Thank you so much for this detailed video.
Nailed this today! Didn't get much chance to use it til today, haven't trained much, but it was perfect. Thanks! BTW, I'll add one more thing-- I saw that you are a Renzo affiliate, and I saw that Renzo's brother Gregor lost his last fight when he was GnP'd following a failed armbar. If he had used this setup he would have hit it.
that mount is the mario sperry mount. where you move off to the side, arm posted out, grab your opponents head, and drive his jaw to the ground. i saw him do it in a gi competition in brazil in 1995.
nice detailed instruction. question tho...why is the option at 5:23 not availabe at 5:12? I dont see much difference in the opponent's arm position. much thanks
I'll be honest, when i first clicked on the video i was like, "Ok, here we go again, another genius who thinks he has a secret way of doing an armbar from mount", By the end of the video i was blown away. Next thing i know is have watched the video 20 times before i even noticed it.
Wow, I can't even count the number of "armbar from mount" videos I've seen, and there were at least 4 crucial details here that I've never seen before.
Very detailed, really liked it... One problem I think I see is where you lean your ear towards his knee - what would prevent him from knocking you out cold with a knee to the head (other than him potentially being pressured/disoriented by the head-lock)? Thanks for the answer in advance, coach, I am sure i must be missing something, just don't know what!

Gregor is Renzo's cousin, not his brother.
The level of detail in this video is beautiful.
best arm bar technique by far on the youtube

Distance, power, etc. He can't chamber it, he can't use his core to launch it, etc. Just my take. Try it.
There would be so much pressure from the lean. A crush hard to breath, with the head shelved no core
This is great, thankyou
Awesome video, can't wait to drill this
Great stuff!!
Very well explained.
Very nice! Thank you!
Good stuff ….. like it a lot…..
Working this for years very effective if you follow the steps ..
The only armbar I use since I watched this video.
