  • This video explains the Foundations curriculum book, how a parent would use it, and explains some different resources available from CC to add to the curriculum (most of which I don't recommend for a newbie, even though they're great!).

    As someone who is starting CC (and starting "official" homeschool- Kindergarten) for the first time this coming school year, this was immensely helpful! Thank you for sharing!

    After finishing my first year I will say that's a great summary and it's quite easy to spend money for all those other things and then not need to use them just in feeling like you need to be prepared so that's really true. it is probably best to get just the things she told you about and the app on your phone. I bought a lot more but I'm not necessarily any better off for it😮 thank you

    Hi Emily, I am considering CC for next year (2nd grade). But I'm confused about what curriculum we need to add to it in our homeschool day. How much time would I spend on reviewing the CC material each day, vs. the other subjects, and what other subjects do most CC people have to get other curriculum for? When I first heard about it I thought the CC curriculum was all I would need for my entire homeschool curriculum, so now I'm confused, lol. Thanks for your help!

      you will find answers to this that run the gamut. The best thing to do is visit a local community and start asking people there what they do. The short answer is, for a 2nd grader, at home you're using a math curriculum of your own choice and a language arts curriculum of your choice. That in addition to the memory work they learn at CC IS enough! You will find many people who add a lot to that, or at a minimum struggle to believe that's "enough". But it is. CC builds into a full curriculum but not until 7th grade.

    Hello, do you have a link to get the binder and sheet protector to organize the timeline cards? Thanks. I appreciate what you do to help us, Newbies.

    1- I have a 11 yo son that will be starting CC this August. Do you have any experience / suggestion in using Foundation and Essentials at the same time?
    2- What does your homeroom look like ? How do you organize your library ?
    Thank you in advance for your time. I have watched over 20 videos and yours is top on my list

      1) yes, most people with students age 9-11 do both Foundations and Essentials at the same time. That’s the intention of how to do CC at those ages. I have had that scenario in my family for the last 5 years. It’s great!
      2) you should follow me on Instagram @emilythehomeschooler. I show my school room and all kinds of things and share about homeschooling with CC a lot.
      So glad my video was helpful! Hopefully you found my Essentials videos as well.

    How do we find information about which Cycle is upcoming for 2023/2024? TIA!

    • @emilythehomeschooler
      @emilythehomeschooler  Рік тому

      Cycle 3 is the 23/24 school year. You can tell by asking a licensed director or by looking in the bookstore and deducing a bit- the upcoming cycle will display more prominently there, although you will still see things sold for the other cycles too.

      So then would 24/25 school year be back to cycle 1?

    • @emilythehomeschooler
      @emilythehomeschooler  Рік тому

      @@rmeester9366 yes that’s right. But you can start at any cycle. They are separate bodies of info that don’t build on each other. It’s designed so you can begin in any cycle.

    Hi, am I following correctly, is the CC curriculum only memorizing the words each week? There are no workbooks? Just learning the words? I went to a Co-op day and saw the songs and the kids reciting but I didn’t understand what more is done?

    • @emilythehomeschooler
      @emilythehomeschooler  Рік тому +2

      Essentially yes. That is correct. The idea is capitalizing on a child's natural ability to memorize and filling their minds with quality information to be added on to later when developmentally appropriate. CC has some great short videos about the program here- classicalconversations.com/start-here/
