- In the episode "The Old Man and the Lisa" from Season 8 of the Fox television series The Simpsons, Principal Skinner and the Junior Achievers recycle newspapers at Uriah's Heap Recycling Center.
The name of the recycling center is a reference to English rock band Uriah Heep, formed in 1969 in London.
Ralph's "oh mommy, help" at the end lol
No trip to Albany and no steamed hams for the children
I’m from Utica

I'm from a uterus.
Awww And they were lookin forward to Albany, I don’t blame them and the recycling.😢
I blame the recycling.
that was one brittle tree
0:20 how could they all fit in that car?
I counted 7 people, 6 of whom were children (Ralph, the nerdy kid, Martin, Lisa, Skinner, and two kids I don't know.) Assuming the car has bench seats in the front, it might not be that hard to fit them all in. Put Skinner and two kids in the front, and then squeeze the other 4 in the back.
A wizard did it
I mean, what are we, to believe that this is some sort of a, a magic station wagon or something? Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.
You obviously didn't grow up in the 70s or 80s. Parents and uncles and aunts use to pack us in those cars like sheep if we needed to go somewhere together.
It's bigger on the inside
Truth be told recycling is just about that cheap. That's why hardly anyone does it.
Tell me about it. I used to recycle aluminum cans and my dad used take scrap iron in. Then the price tanked and is still in the tank.
It's expensive here in Ireland.
Because the whole purpose of recycling is not about making profit, it's just a sensible way to reuse materials instead of using up good source.
Lies again? Ali Henry
@@tomedy_official Good luck getting most people to unwaveringly support anything without incentivization. Life's too expensive and too short to give a damn for free.
July gig was awesome !
For the record 0.5 tons of paper can actually get you $7
At the time this episode was written it was closer to $1 or $2
@@deadmeatjb im talking about today
@@tomedy_official no shit
@@tomedy_official Yeah, but today $7 can't even buy McDonalds lunch. At the time $1-$2 could at least buy some lunch.
I think it's sad that Americans need to be paid to recycle stuff, here in Europe we just do it as it's the right thing to do.
Lisa: We collected enough paper to save 1 whole tree.
Uh, it takes more than 1 tree to make a half ton of newspaper. It takes more like 12 trees!
Was there ever any recycling centers anywhere that actually paid people for paper?

No, I think he meant to do that
My name was in the Simpsons
Back then when simpsons wasn't filled with marxism.
If you don't want left-leaning politics in your delicate echo chamber, you're watching the wrong show, hahaha
Simpsons was always center left.

And your life wasn't exclusively about getting mad about communists (read, anybody slightly to the left of Hitler) on the internet. Bummer.
@@MrBrassBalls It's kinda hard not to be mad at people who still support an ideology that killed far more than any other in history and, contrary to the runner-up, is still considered acceptable and pushed everywhere.
