I have a 23 l5p, I blew off the hot side pipe at the crimped clamp at 5k, I replaced with a new assembly under warranty, I suspect a boost leak due to short distances between regens. I machined a boost leak tester and I hear air movement at the hot side inlet to the intercooler but I can’t find the leak. Will air leak out of the egr? I can’t get it to hold any pressure. I also did a smoke test and couldn’t find a leak. I have a Banks Derringer and intake and truck only has 19k. I soaped all connections and can’t find a leak but I definitely hear air moving at the intercooler inlet.

    Thanks for the great vid!
...so how does the boost leak cause turbo failure? Mine has a good sized leak, but end and lateral play seems good?
    Thank you!

I just installed your turbo on my truck last week. The original one I believe was just worn out, almost 250k miles. The old turbo compressor wheel didn't always spin free. It would get to random spots where the wheel would get tight and not want to turn. I want to pull the old one apart just because I'm curious of what was failing. What should I look for inside it?

When doing this do I need to remove the oil cap? I’ve seen some do and some don’t.

Will you see a slow drop in the gauge?
