Correction: the weight stated in the video is wrong, as the German official CFMoto site got it wrong 😂. It is 175kg dry, so similar to the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The brakes are also not directly from Brembo as it turns out but instead from their spanish sub brand J.Juan. Sorry about that, annoys me to no end that I got that wrong.

True enough, but what I really want in an ADV bike is a really low 1st, low 2nd, lowish 3rd, normal 4th, slightly overdrive 5th and tall 6th. This arrangement only works with a torqy motor. Like this one!
@@davidc1961utube agreed, first 4 gears should be as short as possible to maximize acceleration and power usage... and 5/6 overdrive. But most people do not use full rpm range, shifting at 5000rpm and then complaining how 1st gear is useless, haha weird...

@@axeami1354 hi. I've had no issues at all with the bike. I think I've found the perfect combo of bikes. This Mt800 and my -23 Husqvarna 701 sm. One perfect for longer distances riding in comfort and one for commute, track and everyday fun.
I've had mine in Australia for a few weeks, and have done 1,200kms. Agree regarding the gearing being too short. I fitted a 15-tooth front sprocket (up 1 tooth), and that makes cruising at 110kph (max legal speed in Oz) much more comfortable, dropping by about 500rpm compared to standard, and making the speedo much more accurate. First gear becomes more usable, even off road, as the motor has a very good bottom end and mid range. I think a 16-tooth sprocket would fit if you were going to be doing a lot of freeway/autobahn riding. For my height (170cm) it's very comfortable on the highway with the screen raised. I can easily reach the ground, unlike on the bigger adv bikes - I'd love a T7, but I just don't fit! Other cons - from the factory the suspension is way too hard, but is easily softened. The fueling isn't perfect, being a little bit on/off at low speed - hopefully that will be fixed via software update. Yes, cruise control would be very nice, but it's a cable throttle rather than ride-by-wire, so that would require significant hardware update.

Not sure you need cruise control. The price would definitely go up, and you would then have "ride by wire" throttle as opposed to cables (which are easy to fix)
I had the oportunity of testing for a couple of days and I have to say I felt in love with the MT450 even my Bike is a ktm 890 I enjoyed every km I did. I tryed to trasmit this in the vídeo I did for the ocasion. Great product!!
This or the Kove 800 are definitely on my radar. I tried building out a more dirt worthy Versys 300 with a KLR front end and custom rear shock but it just didn't have enough or the right power for me. My vstrom has 120,000+ miles on it so I'd love to move it to backup bike duty.
Great review, Luke, thanks for posting. I have the same concerns as you about the dealer network here in the UK (or lack thereof) and potential issues in regard to longevity. Otherwise, cracking value.
In the meantime we have here in the US the Suzuki DR650 and the Kawaski KLR 650, also the unbeatable Honda XR650L. Yet I'm sure the the 450 MT will be launched in fall '24 here in the US, it will be selling in volume. Then the jury is out if it lasts. The US is a good battlefield for competition and consumer feedback.
Hey Luke I am just about to buy one down here in Australia .After seeing your vid ,I think I have made a good choice.I only hope they are durable motor wise cheers Tony
Gracias a tú vídeo he comprado una 450 MT que llegará en enero de 2025. Me suscribo a tú canal! Saludos!!
My only beef with this commentary and "the gap between 300 and 700cc" is that Honda released the CB500X in 2013: this bike was absolutely ignored by international press until Honda, through various iterations, landed on a 19" front wheel to appease the Adventouring folks. Then, the new XL750 Transalp was released and they had to remarket the smaller sister as NX500 which, strangely enough, looks a lot like this CF450. Now it seems that the press embargo and stigma about A2 bikes has been lifted and everyone realized that you don't need 250+kg behemots to enjoy an adventure on your own. Thank god, it was high time.
A 1 hr trip to see a dealer is not too bad at all, I live in a medium size city in New Zealand & my nearest BMW dealer is about a 5hr ride, so yeah 1hr is a luxury.
Hello! Thanks for your video, very interesting. Please min 10:20, can't properly understand what are you proposing for the 120km/h in highway (cons - red). Thanks!
I agree with your comments regarding dealership network here in the UK they are pretty sparse. I live near a major city with a KTM main dealer who doesn’t stock CF Moto so much for the partnership. The nearest dealer stocking these is about 100 miles from me which makes service and warranty trips unrealistic so no CF Moto for me currently 😢
thanks for the review. Can't wait to test ride it :)

I would consider 1st gear as similar to a Trial bike, so if You want to crawl superslow between the logs in trial style, I will take it as an advantage, while on Tenere one should slow down with the clutch to make the same manoeuvres.
Newbie here: 10:14 - how do you solve short end-gear? Difference sized sprocked? Isnt it makes you loose warranty? How do you do that, choose the matching sprocket? Thank you!
Ordered mine, just have to wait a little 😂. I loved the part how you explained the CF Moto and KTM relationship. I couldn't stop laughing. Keep up the good work, gonna go watch your 10k test after this. ❤ From Malaysia...
I think its fuel range anxiety and 5000 km service intervals would stop me from buying it. The spare part issue and quality problems have prevented me from buying it. I am going with the 450 Himalayan
I got 1200 km on my in Poland. My other ride is the Rally 300 (in Indonesia). I bought the MT450 for European style ADV rides. The short gear box is a miss, I already have installed 15t front sprocket. That helps some. The off idle fueling is not good (thx euro whatever). Yes skid plate is paper thin. The exhaust is on a loud side, I guess I am old. If you care for your bike, 10k oil changes is bull shitit. Other than that, for the price or with that low price, it's an awesome side roads adv bike.
Jeśli możesz to prośba o podanie linku do oferty z wspomnianą zebatką. CF mam zamówiona ale po doświadczeniach z G310 GS wiem, że to będzie pierwsza rzecz, która wymienię a zamówiłbym już teraz :)
@ibol857 JTF656 15RB. The sprocket nut is tightened a lot. I had to go to a shop and borrow an impact gun. Make sure you eliminate as much of the throttle cable slack as possible. This helps with the off idle stumble somewhat. I ordered my sprocket through the local bike shop.
This bike needs probably both front and rear sprocket change to be useful in Europe. They should have just put longer six gear to solve the problem, I don't understand the idea of having torque fast reving engine and gear rations set up so close to each other just like in sport bike. I bet first gear is not very usable as well.
Excellent review very concise 3k oil change wouldn't bother me its about where I usually change my 390 ..short gearing as you say is easily remedied I'm 6ft so will be interested to see how it fits..screens are always a compromise and i usually end up modifying.. would be interested to learn the fuel range..18/21 proper tubeless wheels excellent...and all at a great price
If im not mistaken, ktms 790s and some spare parts for yamahas top bikes are made by yamaha.also, the quality of this bike is actually top tier!considering it only costs 6k euros.
what I hate: single thumbers, tried it did not like, the fact that 6 foot people totally ignore smaller people's needs and recommend 890 mm seat height bikes, which is why I bought the kawa versys-x = 2 cylinder fitted with 40 HP w/ decent height 158 kg dry weight - that's my bike! As a former owner of a chinese bike I would be very carefull about the metal alloy quality =rust
I see the 450 is great for offroad use but first, I need to get there after making some 600 km. So, the question is very, very simple: Can you cruise at 130 km/h during, say, 2 hours non-stop at a reasonable engine speed (RPMs) with enough power left to, eventually, overtake? Thx!!
Saludos!
I'm not for China here but I'd call a spade a spade. Whenever someone said disparaging things about Made in China stuff, I'd point out that there are only 3 countries running their own space stations: US, Russia and China. That said, between the MT450 and RE Himalayan, I'd probably pick this one.
And to elaborate on the space station thing, China is the only full owner/operator of their own space station in the 21st century. The USA and Russia/Soviet Union retired their own space stations decades ago, and invested in the ISS as part of a multinational joint venture with others, while other space players are merely "planning" to launch new space stations of their own, making China a real unicorn for actually going through with it and succeeding.
Thoughts on this bike as a beginner for new riders? I was looking at the Honda NX500. Thing is I wanted a bike that was good off road as on. Thank you.
No cruise control but that's because that's not a ride-by-wire throttle. At least, it will be easy to repair in the middle of nowhere just like on the T7. 😃
I have the 450MT and love it although I've only had it for 1 week and done 175 kilometers on it. Here in Australia we get 2 years warranty but if you get it serviced at a CF Moto dealer then you get another year.
Servicing is around $350 per minor service. 5000km service intervals so for me thats at least 3x a year for 3 years. Down $3450 just in service in the first 3 years. It adds up. Add a major service in there too for about $1200 and now you’ve just spent half the price of the bike again in the first 3 years. CFMoto are smart with the low service interval and dealer service. I would skip dealer and do it myself but then they might not cover other faults like electrical ones
I'm in Nairobi and there is a Voge dealer here, I wonder how this compares to that 500 or whichever is their equivalent. Any thoughts on this to Voge? I had looked at waiting for a new BMW or KTM to come out, but things are just even extra expensive here... I use it as my primary transport. I had an SYM 200 and I loved it, although the ergonomics were a little cramped, a little underpowered, and it needed longer better suspension. I have a BMW 650 GS right now from 2007 and it's so beat up and heavy it's just too much work pushing around crappy roads with speed bumps everywhere and traffic

Thanks for the honest review, mate. Great video! Here in China it costs only around 4300 USD. Will definitely consider it as my next bike.
Sorry it's 196 kilo with fuel not 176 !
10/10 video! Seriously! Great videography and information. Subbed!
This or the Kove 800 are definitely on my radar. I tried building out a more dirt worthy Versys 300 with a KLR front end and custom rear shock but it just didn't have enough or the right power for me. My vstrom has 120,000+ miles on it so I'd love to move it to backup bike duty.
Lucky man, super review, thanks.
The weight is almost 195kg wet. People have weighed it in the UK.
@@nigelfisher6896Is English your first language? You don’t seem to understand a very simple post.
@@davidmatthews3093 He is right. What is your issue. Maybe it is you having difficulties with english language.
0:20 175kg wet? I think is 175kg dry so lets add 20-22kg more.. fuel tank capacity is 17.5l
Fuel: 17.5L = 14kg
Oil: 2.5L = 2.25kg
Coolant 1.5L = 1.5Kg
Brake fluid 300-400g?
TOTAL: about 18KG or so, did I forget something
@jutjub22 so total 193kg not 197kg that's game changer
Great review, Luke, thanks for posting. I have the same concerns as you about the dealer network here in the UK (or lack thereof) and potential issues in regard to longevity. Otherwise, cracking value.
I will be waiting for your full long term review bro!
Love the 450CC adventure segment, can't wait for the 450GS
Hey Luke I am just about to buy one down here in Australia .After seeing your vid ,I think I have made a good choice.I only hope they are durable motor wise cheers Tony
Awesome feedback. I just got a Scram 400X but this one looks like you say that perfect mix of adv and every day riding.
The bike is 175kg DRY!. Fully fuelled with oil and water it comes in around 197kg. The same as Honda's NX500.
yes he said it on antoher platform, was mistake by ct moto on their homepage, he corrected it but that only became apparent later
That was quality content! Subscribed immediately. GJ 👍
A 1 hr trip to see a dealer is not too bad at all, I live in a medium size city in New Zealand & my nearest BMW dealer is about a 5hr ride, so yeah 1hr is a luxury.
I guess it's all a matter of perspective.
I live in Novi Sad, Serbia and my CFmoto dealer is 10 minutes away.
An hour away sounds like forever to me.
I think this will dent Honda's sales figures of their cb500x /nx500 range
This bike bike will slaughter Himalayan sales.
Hahah... never ever!
The GS in this great video is awesome. But the 450 looks really exciting too.
I'm already looking forward to your next videos 😘
thanks for the review. Can't wait to test ride it :)
I would consider 1st gear as similar to a Trial bike, so if You want to crawl superslow between the logs in trial style, I will take it as an advantage, while on Tenere one should slow down with the clutch to make the same manoeuvres.
Piñón de 15 o de 16 y de maravilla
Mines on order now, Can't wait to throw it around the Jungles here in Vietnam...
Thanks, Raymond!
i have the CF moto 450NK and im loving it! got new exhaust on it sounds awesome! this is my next buy i think
The 450 platform is actually already in their 450SS(SR) and 450NK bikes. I love my 450NK, besides the low RPM jerking.
I think its fuel range anxiety and 5000 km service intervals would stop me from buying it. The spare part issue and quality problems have prevented me from buying it. I am going with the 450 Himalayan
What an amazing video. Thank you!
This bike brought me to you, and I think I've fallen in love with it. I hope I can own one someday.
@@pawelwolski1316 Thank you!
This bike needs probably both front and rear sprocket change to be useful in Europe. They should have just put longer six gear to solve the problem, I don't understand the idea of having torque fast reving engine and gear rations set up so close to each other just like in sport bike. I bet first gear is not very usable as well.
Pawel how does 450MT compare co CRF in your eyes?
I go to the CFmoto website and they don't even show any 450's??? what's going on there?
Excellent review very concise 3k oil change wouldn't bother me its about where I usually change my 390 ..short gearing as you say is easily remedied I'm 6ft so will be interested to see how it fits..screens are always a compromise and i usually end up modifying.. would be interested to learn the fuel range..18/21 proper tubeless wheels excellent...and all at a great price
Fantastic video, looking forward for review after Asia.
The speed issue isn’t as big of a problem here in Australia- we’re between 100/110kmh top legal speed. McCruise also do an aftermarket cruise control
If im not mistaken, ktms 790s and some spare parts for yamahas top bikes are made by yamaha.also, the quality of this bike is actually top tier!considering it only costs 6k euros.
Thanks. I know have found my new bike. I'm a new rider, so I guess this will be perfect for me.
what I hate: single thumbers, tried it did not like, the fact that 6 foot people totally ignore smaller people's needs and recommend 890 mm seat height bikes, which is why I bought the kawa versys-x = 2 cylinder fitted with 40 HP w/ decent height 158 kg dry weight - that's my bike!
Thx!!
Yes you can. I did change to a 15tooth front sprocket, and i can cruise at 135kph all day now. And i still have enough power left.
@@MotoSly Does that change cause any harm to the engine?
First time viewing your channel. Excellent review and well made! Will subscribe
Thanks!
Saludos!
I'm not for China here but I'd call a spade a spade. Whenever someone said disparaging things about Made in China stuff, I'd point out that there are only 3 countries running their own space stations: US, Russia and China.
That said, between the MT450 and RE Himalayan, I'd probably pick this one.
true plus mt 450 is a twin engine
And to elaborate on the space station thing, China is the only full owner/operator of their own space station in the 21st century. The USA and Russia/Soviet Union retired their own space stations decades ago, and invested in the ISS as part of a multinational joint venture with others, while other space players are merely "planning" to launch new space stations of their own, making China a real unicorn for actually going through with it and succeeding.
Great looking and performer dealers say October deliverys in Canada 🇨🇦 maybe.
Really enjoyed your review... Keep it up 💪
I'm looking to downsize and get something more off-road capable, and this might just fit the bill.
Impressed
For myself, I can’t help but wonder if the marginally heavier Tuareg 660 isn’t a better tool most of the time
Great review, cheers from 🇦🇺
Grazie!
Great review 👍
I think with the likes of CF Moto, the biking world will be a very different place in 5 to 10 years' time.😳
That engine is already in use with CFMoto's sports 450SR which was released last year.
What a awesome bike
yes!
Hey Luke, nice Video. You mentioned the Himalayan from RE. Old or new one? And if new one, how do you compare to 450MT? Thanks
Nice video mate. Lovely scenery too. Will subscribe for updates😊
Hello Luke, short gears do fit perfectly to this kind of Adventure bikes. period.
Tiene buena pinta la CF 450, gracias por el vídeo
How does power and suspension compare to the 390? I have one and this seems like a excellent upgrade
Awesome review! How's the seat comfort? For me, that's a point of torture on my Himalayan and Continental GT 650.
How do you think it stacks up against xr650l or the drz400 dr650?
would be nice if you could get them at the KTM dealer... Now the real question is do i want the CFmoto 450 or the KTM 790...
