I liked the part at the tournament where you out-drank everyone and still managed to PFC OTP CSP for your warmup just to flex. It was cool to get to meet you, man. Keep it up with the content.
"Song fails, chart fails, B+" I love how this sums up how bullshit DDR grades are nowadays compared to how anyone actually expects letter grades to work
Yeah lol, it's tough sometimes to remember B is closer to the bottom of the grading scale. It's even worse when a game goes through A, AA, AAA and THEN starts pulling out the S ranks on top of that. Really sucks that AA and AAA pretty much lose their original significance in modern DDR.
You keep referring to the Cartoon Heroes song from DDR Extreme as the 'original' - but that is actually a speedy remix of the original. The 20th anniversary remix featured here is a nod to the original cartoon heroes song (even if it was much less popular). Your brain is trying to compare the wrong 2 pieces.
You make a point abt the songs being tributes being remixes, the only song that is not a remix and got a 20th aniversary mix is butterfly. It's kinda a missed opportunity for some of these songs, Like Cartoon Heros could have been remade into a Uk Hardcore track since the Speedy Mix featured in Extreme was a Remix/Cover. Would've like to see that instead of a basic edm track that happens to be at a 170 bpm.
Butterfly: Yeah, this chart kind of sucks. Beyond not fitting the music well, there's ambiguity due to doublesteps/spins, as well as left-right jumps being followed by up-down steps. There are charters at Bemani who understand the latter part better, using an LR jump, a stream of U-D, and another LR jump to make ambiguity after jumps moot, but this was probably charted by a different person or deliberately references old Butterfly charts. Have You Never Been Mellow: Hey, I like the arrow dump! It's funny that a song with "mellow" in the name has a tiring stamina chart, and the streams and footspeed bursts feel good to execute. However, I agree that it'd be nice to have an alternate chart that more closely follows the music. Long Train Runnin': Big agree on this being one of the better remixes and charts. The hard crossover patterns work since they happen during the loud chorus, saving the most intense movements for the most intense sounds. Sky High: Pretty good tech chart! I just wish that freeze arrows used colored notes for readability. I also have a subjective complaint with some steps during freeze notes, like 199-201, where the middle step goes to a different, more subdued element of the song than 184-186. It threw me off for a while before I realized what it was supposed to be stepped to. Cartoon Heroes: The CSP suffers from the Megalovania syndrome where the shock arrows feel like an afterthought. The chart (for the most part) flows better and matches the music more closely with the shock arrows removed. I would have liked a more stream-dense chart, like the section starting at 379, with less shock arrows and more twisty streams, which would still fit elements of the song and make it feel more intense.
I believe it’s worth noting that the Cartoon Heroes from Extreme was the appropriately-named Speedy Mix. If we see Cartoon Heroes 20th as a remix of the *original* Cartoon Heroes, we can see why it took that direction. It’s not a good direction, but all the same. Also Cartoon Heroes Speedy Mix is a 13 as long as Daikenkai Oni and Healing Vision Angelic are 13s.
@@maxxx6970 You can’t convince me that Cartoon Heroes Speedy Mix has difficulty comparable in level to Koisuru Uchuu Sensou!!, London Evolved and New Generation when the 13s also plays host to Exotic Ethnic, Burning Heat and especially not Fascination Maxx DSP, which are, and this is true by their NPS and patterns: *faster and more technical*.
Now i will say I totally agree with most of this video but with (have you ever been mellow) I'll say that I actually like the chart alot. Yes it's overstepped but i luv the stamina training you get from it.
"HAVE YOU NEVER BIN MARROW" But no, they keep picking the wrong SKY HIGH. Where's the LUCYFER one? Also, how does IIDX get a jammin HOT LIMIT remix and *not* DDR?
at least in the US, DDR...may in fact be for old people. I can't speak for everyone, but most of the people I play with are in their mid-30s and some in their early 40s (obviously not actually 'old' but in DDR years you may as well be dead). Maybe my experience isn't universal, lol.

It was great meeting you at Dahn Dahn Right a few months ago! Love hearing your commentary on the new content
as someone who heard and played the 20th anniversary version of cartoon heroes first, i can never go back to it after playing the original
Don't worry, once the Cartoon Heroes 40th anniversary remix comes along we can all look back and say it'll never be able to compete with this one.

Less popular? The Aqua version was a charting song all over the world lol, I guess it is less popular in DDR circles.
oh no not the reiwa coefficient
ok so can we just collectively assume that once a license gets challenge charts it will be removed within 5 months
Hey daniel van eden what happened to 20th anniversary licensed songs was removed on dance dance revolution A3 released january 22nd 2024.

I think you mean cartoon heroes is a 14

Whoa! Daniel! You know the rules of internet reviewing, you cant double play the Im Biased card and the Im Nostalgic card in one play
rare japanese sesame street reference
I hope somehow konami decide to bring back theme like X3 vs 2nd mix with those old licensed music.

I would've rather seen a 20th Anniversary Mix of "MY BABY MAMA" instead of "Cartoon Heroes"

oh hell naw they made have you never been mellow a stamina rpg chart
I personally like shock arrow charts, but Cartoon Heroes feels a bit forced. I also feel the same about the last few of them as well.
Amazing how I disagree in almost 90% of all of your videos, but this one I just disagree in one song
all better than dancemania
