No I didn't put it in all caps for clickbait, that's how they typed it lol.
This is a special emergency transmission since I'm sure not too many of us were thinking the latest event for DDR was going to be this hype. A new unlock system, 7 brand new insane boss songs, a new 19, and one agonizing grind to go through. I've seen a ton of people asking questions right now about BABY-LON'S GALAXY, so I decided to try and consolidate all the info and footage that's out there and make a patented gaijin-friendly explanation for you.
I am not guaranteeing all of this information is correct, this is still the first stage of the event that we know of

For those who are curious about the Flare Gauge, this concept is VERY similar to a forgotten course concept by In The Groove 2 called Survival Mode. Survival Mode gives you a limited timer that ticks but removes seconds off your timer faster if you got a Great or worse. You can STILL fail with an Excellent Full Combo. In this case with DDR Flare Gauge, the song Hou, will start to penalize you for even Perfects for 1%, meaning that even if you have a PFC run, you can STILL fail. It is damn brutal, and especially if youre doing a 19 and I did wish Marvelouses would give even a quarter of a percent back to compensate.

id like to add a note, system valkyrie is akira complex, so this is her third song released in an rg after her passing (the first and second being lucid traveller in arcaea/cytus 2 and courage in vivid/stasis)

This event looks crazy and I'm excited to start on it, even if I can only clear up to 15s at the moment. That new 19 is looking to be brutal. I also like the art style of the cutscenes and the BGA for the 19. Excited to see where it all leads.
Man, between this new BABY-LON stuff and the previous Rinon stuff, DDR lore is pretty insane.
So when can we expect the big "DDR Lore" video?

also i always wanted to experience what it must have felt like waiting for ace for aces to be fully cleared back in rinon's adventure. seeing these world class top players fail over and over, everybody cooperating to reveal the full Hou chart bit by bit is very exciting to watch even if i can't clear anything beyond a 16 right now lol

Indeed some terrible design. Here's how I'd design it:
Since players have a higher skill gap now, your multiplier will increase exponentially as you play higher levels and perform better.
From level 1-5 your multiplier is x1
levels 6-9 you have a 2x multiplier
level 10-12 you have 3x
13-14 5x
15 8x
16 10x
17 15x
18 24x
19 72x
This multiplier will also be multiplied by the CLASSIC grade you obtain in the song.
600k and below gets 1x (D)
700k-799,999 gets 2x (C)
800k-899,999 gets 4x (B)
900k-949,999 gets 6x (A)
950k-989,999 gets 10x (AA)
990k and above gets 20x (AAA)
Your ability to combo can also be factored in even, here's how:
Blue FC = 2x multiplier
Green FC = 4x multiplier
Yellow FC =8x multiplier
White FC = 16x multiplier
This took me longer to write than to ideate but it is supposed to reward higher skilled players.
The length (how many points required to unlock a song) of the event will be determined by your last play data over the last month. The higher the average score, the higher the score, but this is to avoid the mechanics punishing new players, as they would be allowed to unlock charts with less points... but it will take longer than chris4lfe who's MFCed 16-18s and consistently PFCs some 17s.
In that example, his multiplier would be 15 times 8 times 20, allowing him a multiplier of 2400
This is improving the multiplier system that the game suggests you can use. I don't know if the event is gonna make use of EX score, but if it does, EX score and using FCs as multiplier (same as above) will help the grind. I'm gonna make a separate comment quickly so... *taps Enter*

11:19 well, pro players are infamous for using Sudden+, so here you go, a Sudden+ gimmick impossible to imitate on Stepmania that will definitely be used in this boss stage. Literally Konami's answer to data cabs.
There are plenty of ITG mods that imitate that gimmick. Definitely not impossible.
SSC format simfiles, babyyy
SSC format simfiles allows for those gimmicks. That's how the A4A gimmicks are retained in StepMania and why you need SM5 to play the song with the gimmicks intact.
Also this is the same simfiles format used by PumpSanity and how PIU simfiles can have their gimmicks retained from their original mixes.

Not only can Stepmania easily do any gimmick that Konami official charts can, 99 times out of 100 Stepmania has already done it 15 years ago.
