Ahhh, good luck with that. Are you whittling down possessions bit by bit? I seemed to do that for a whole year, but still ended up with too much stuff.
A big case of "Hurry up and wait". You've got it all done and now you're on hold! Your solicitor is very frustrating!!!! And.... FinAlly! OH! That smile many many hours later!! So happy for you!!! Oh my word, What a GREAT Bathroom!
Thanks for the video. I am going through selling my hose and buying a bungalow. I though I would be able to go back and forth from my house to the new one, while moving in...but I didn't realise that I had to get everything out before and then wait for the keys. Your video has been an eye opener Thanks again
Well - the people I bought the house off did just that! We had to wait outside with the removal team until 5:30! I did feel sorry for the people I bought the place off - they had planned to move only fairly nearby and had decided they would recruit help from all the neighbours and family and move by cars, instead of a van, to save money. They didn’t appear to have packed - there were multiple generations of their extended family from children to old aged pensioners coming in and out with arms full of stuff and loading it into cars, which were shuttling back and forth to and from the new place. The poor lady who’s house it was had been in tears, hence I didn’t vlog it, as she was having the day from hell, combined with leaving her childhood home. She said she’d had no concept of how time consuming that approach would have been and if she ever moved house again she would hire a removal firm. Thanks so much for watching and I wish you all the best of luck with your move!
Cool place to start getting caught up on...moving day! Man that can be stressful..paper work, organizing, and the moving of the stuff. The new pad is SWEEEEETTT!!!
Helloooooo! Yes, it is sweet. It's just little and perfect for us. I think we'll be really happy and snug here. I'm making the cellar into a flute-cave.
Yay, all the waiting is finally over! What a chaotic day. The new house looks amazing!!! I can’t wait to see more of it. The ending on this video was hilarious. 🤣
Thanks for link to this from today's vlog. Looks like quite a frantic day. Interesting to hear how the house exchange works in the UK. In America we have it is called a closing. Both buyer and seller meet at a Lawyers office and sign pages and pages, and the deal is done. Usually you take possession of the new home that day. You and Izzy, particularly Izzy looked punch drunk at the end.
I know! Tell me about it! I've been thinking, oh my word, how many more of these house-moving themed vlogs are people going to sit through? Lolol! Probably my views will all drop back off now though.. oh well. France is coming up.
What an extremely exciting new chapter. Can't wait to see what's up next. So fantastic to have this event on video. Congratulations on this truly huge accomplishment.
Yay! So cool! Your new house is awesome, congratulations! I really loved seeing all your empty rooms... they gave me a feeling of completion, even though I did none of the work haha. A great job was done by all!
Congratulations both on your move! I know you like to keep things, but a great piece of advice is to put nil, in your loft except insulation. You might come to realise you probably don’t need the items anyway! Good luck in your new pad!
so we finally get to see the new house! It looks great! It's a mess now but once you unpack and get all settled in, it'll be awesome! Finally it's done! I bet Izzy's so happy she's getting a bigger bedroom! And the bathroom's got a hot tub! I know where you'll be spending most of your time now :)
That bath is not half bad at all! Hey, and now I have a wheelie bin to put my 'trash' in! So happy! I haven't seen you disposing of yours in ages. I rather miss it.
this video was great ! i'm about to move house in just over 1 week ! and gotta admit im freaking out ! so much stuff to still do ! but i know it will all go good in the end like ur's did :)
Ohhhh I remember that feeling. I remember someone telling me, just know that it WILL GET DONE, no matter how overwhelming. I UA-cam searched moving home tips videos and they really helped me. Good luck and I hope you love the new place. That moment when you shut the door to your new place after everyone’s gone and all your stuff is in is amazing. 😉
Wow, this process seems even more stressful than the one we have in the US for buying/selling houses. Not knowing until the last minute, people being able to change their minds so late. That would eat me up inside.
It was a bit, seeing the house all empty when we were leaving it. Of course, Izzy had never seen it in that state before as I was already living there when she was born.
Too many loopholes and delays....ugh !! Here in the states you could have bought and moved 3 times by now, LOL ! Finally...i hope everything works out ! Yea !!!👍
ah yes that looks like a delicious brekky! I miss the real traditional English breakfast I would have when I'm in the UK, there just aren't any places here that do it quite the same way :(
The final shot of your old house was your bathroom but Imagined it should be like in those old TV shows when they have their final episodes - the scene goes like the whole house is empty and your'e at the doorway and then you turn off the lights and shut the door...fade to black...the end...
Ahhh yeah..... vlog fantasy versus vlog reality.... I often imagine filming things like that, but then once your cracking on with a group of people who are not into vlogging, and it's all a big rush, all those lovely, arty shots get left by the wayside.... it's a pity!
11:30 - The previous owners were still using incandescent light bulbs, in this day and age? Here in Portugal you can't find them on sale anymore and even the halogen lamps, which are only 30% more economical on average than the normal ones, are on the verge of extinction. Time for you to replace them all with energy-saving or LED ones. The light is so much better (especially the ones on the cooler side of the light spectrum), not to mention that you can have more light with less energy consumption. : )
Ah yeah. I might have had some in my old house, too. I can't remember. I'll replace them with newer ones one they blow. Presumably one can buy dimmer-bulbs. Maybe they swapped these before they left? I suppose it's possible.... I just left all mine in situ when I went. How it this in Portugal these days? When I lived there back in the 90's, someone told me it was common for people to even take the wiring and light-bulbs when moving to another house. Was that true? What happens these days?
@@PlanetImo - Yes, nowadays dimmer compatible energy-saving or LED light-bulbs are already available. I think that back in the day they only took the chandeliers and other lighting appliances (bulbs included) when they moved out. I've never seen anyone taking the wiring with them, at least around here. From what I've seen nowadays, some people leave what they don't want anymore or what they're not going to need in the new house, perhaps for logistics' reasons. : )
Speaking from experience, it takes longer. You need to establish first where to put the things because the "new" house is different, obviously, and often times you unpack some things and put them in a place just to find yourself moving them around again because some of the things you unpacked later need to go into those places already occupied by the things you unpacked earlier. Confused? Well, unpacking can be very confusing! :D
Ah, now that's a good idea! Hee hee! So far, unpacking is taking an impossibly long time because I don't have enough shelving for things, so until I do, lots of it is in the way or still bagged/boxed. We've got a trip to France coming up, so I'm waiting until after then to buy any shelving.
So many..... we got your package by the way! Thanks so much; I intend to have at least a pinboard or something devoted to my vlog buddies in flute-cave, so it will have pride of place on there, eventually....
Eventually, yes. What an epic saga. It's a good job I really like the new place and can see me settling here for a long time, cos I NEVER WANT TO MOVE AGAIN! Lol!

Hurrah, you’re in your new home, great stuff, really pleased for you! Now you’ve just got to put everything away! Erm, good luck with that one😎👍💕
