All I could think about was this..The reality is she is not going to stay safe. People would be quick to take advantage I’m sure. I don’t know her home life or history, regardless there should be more services helping those in need. Mental health, homelessness, financial issues etc. It’s a shame this country doesn’t prioritize these things. People would rather these people get hurt or die than even have to see it in America.
I work for a facility in Atlanta that helps schizophrenia, bipolar and depression patients. We help people like this all the time and have paid programs for them. My contact information is on my front page. Mental illness is real and we as a people need to take it more seriously.
Don't let your kids think they're adults at 18. Don't tell them they're adults at 18. Don't kick them out at 18. Don't stop being a parent at 18. Dealing with mental illness is tuff. God bless.
She's having a psychotic episode. She probably was on meds at some point, then stopped. I recognized the signs before she disclosed her illnesses. My son is the same age and it started when he turned 16 as well. Because she's 26 years old, it makes it more difficult to help her with her illnesses, especially if she doesn't want the help. In her mind there is nothing wrong with her. I hope her loved ones see this video and locate her to convince her to get treatment. It's a terrible battle. I hope they don't give up on her. I went through hell with my son. Thankfully, he's been stable for the past two years and counting, but he also lives with us. I monitor everything from doctors appointments, daily living and I administer his meds. Can't be no other way. I was dying a slow death when my son was out in the streets homeless ( almost two years) not knowing wether he was dead or alive. My prayers were answered is how I will end this.
Praying for your son/family to remain on course. Please, ask a doctor to check whether your son has anemia or sickle cells. Most doctors don't test Black males (especially highly intelligent ones) for other ailments that affect their mental well-being. My nephew was in college when he suffered a mental breakdown. He was placed in a psych ward for 72 hours. It broke my heart when he said: "Auntie, why are they giving me medication without knowing what's wrong with me?" At the time, a close friend was the hospital administrator, I warned them if anything happened to my nephew, all hell was going to break loose at the hospital. I told them to stop giving him psychosis drugs. My friend informed the staff and she was watchful over him until he was released. BUT...I had to act quickly or he would've committed suicide taking psychosis meds that can cause suicidal ideation. My family and I watched him 24 hours per day. He couldn't even sleep, use the bathroom, or shower alone. We took everything out of the house that he could use to harm himself. Then, I sought after a Black physician who called me in the middle of the night to inform me that my nephew had serious anemia. Google what happens to people, with untreated anemia. Mental confusion (cognitive impairment), hallucinations, brain fog, etc, are all symptoms of mental illnesses. God and his Black physician saved his life. He still has some anxiety issues, but for the most part, he's been mentally stable. Every White physician was prescribing all sorts of psychosis medications without knowing what was wrong with him. We need to ensure that Black males get a yearly physical with lab work, and ensure labs are examined. Sorry so long-winded, but your post touched my heart.
Omg my son too at 16. He is 19 now we reluctantly started medication a couple of years ago. I constantly wonder what it is doing to his brain long term. He will be twenty this summer. Stay strong I hope you guys have a great group of people that can help you all.
As a Registered Nurse, I felt compelled to try and locate someone who could help her during this crisis. She's in the midst of an episode and so vulnerable!! I pray that I get some response and that someone can help get her the care she needs! Also, in my research I found that she's a Veteran as well, and it breaks my heart to witness the state she's in after serving this country!! I am bipolar and a veteran as well. I was homeless before the military and after. It took a while to get help and I’m still trying to get help but dang y’all please help us. A lot of us women are going through further problems after getting out. So much we go thru before, during , and after the military. ❤
The government is not going to do it, they use these people to wage their corporate wars. We as citizens and fellow humans need to ban together and help. As a woman myself, this hurts my soul. I come from a military and law enforcement family. I thought of opening up a non profit drop in housing for people like her. I just don't know where to start. I'm a paralegal by profession, my mom and brother are former mental health techs...my brother is now a psychiatric nurse, the other brother is a paramedic. I worked as a Income Maintenance Caseworker/Social worker and the trauma people go through, especially women, is soul draining. I want to help.
My heart breaks for her. I’m Bipolar type 1 and this state is hard. Thankful to have a psychiatrist and be properly medicated. Was able to make it through school and Now I’m a nurse working with psych patients. Pray she gets the help she needs 💜
As a nurse i could barely get through half this interview. I hope there is an update on this young lady . She is sooo vulnerable out there in a town full of demons.
This is a good example of how hard it is to communicate with someone with a mental illness. Sadly parents get frustrated and give up on their own kids.
Sick people make people sick IF you don’t seek the proper help. It’s no logical reason for a sane per to communicate with a person in this state of mind. They have moments where you can get some information and it’s easy to tell if you know them. My son was diagnosed with schizophrenia at 21. He’s doing very well now at 24, but it takes consistent and knowing more than what this western society teaches for healing.
Some don't believe mental illness is an issue, so they dont even try. My cousin was diagnosed with depression and his mom's only solution is to tell him to go to church more.

If she refuses meds there's not much anyone can do. She will have to hit rock bottom. They can be very dangerous to live with. Violet and aggressive. My son is 31 and has attacked us and destroyed the house. He won't get on meds though. I won't ever have him near me again. Last time he really tried to kill me. No more. I pray for him. Without meds one day something really bad is going to happen. Even the courts can't force meds
I was once in a psych ward for depression and I remember a girl who was there who was just like this girl, same diagnosis, same movements, same behavior, she liked me and was tryna talk to me a lot but I just couldn’t have a conversation w her she was all over the place. I was only in that place for a week, that girl had been there for months. People like this need help 24/7, cannot be left alone and definitely shouldn’t be on drugs.

This is why I am passionate about educating minorities about mental health and the resources available I feel like so many of us never get the resources we truly need, my grandmother said I was being bratty when I could figure out my emotions or when I moped, when I had anxiety attacks she said they were tantrums when I was going through a plethora of emotions and when I wasn’t in right the state she would give me shelter pamphlets and etc when all I needed was help. She even told me I wasn’t that depressed because I didn’t kill myself yet. So I tried it, if the state didn’t mandate me receiving help I could’ve very well been like her. Once I got the help I needed it completely changed my trajectory in life. I’m 25 now, sound mental health, managing my psychosis like it’s nothing and now working in a hospital. It’s very much possible 🙏🏾 with the proper resources. I am proof.

11.9.2023 My eyes filled with tears as I watched this beautiful young lady speak. All I could do was think of my 26-, 23-, and 21-year-olds. No one will truly know her story but the person that lives within her, trapped. Big hugs to her.

I searched her face book. She was just recently modeling snd appeared to have just in recent months declined as far as her mental health. It's interesting watching her process his questions in the middle of a psychosis episode and she's even self reflecting on herself at one point. She's definitely a really smart, strong chick and she's trying to fight whatever it is she's seeing and hearing around her to find reality. That being said, camera man shouldn't have left her wander off with a weird guy she just apparently met to go chill. Sounds like that person could be taking advantage of her to me. Hopefully she's back home with her family right now. She's way too pretty to be wandering the streets aimlessly like that.
There’s nothing he can do. She’s technically grown for one, and unless she’s an active threat to herself or anyone else, he cannot detain or stop her from doing what she wants to do.

She’s very intelligent. That’s the beautiful part. Intelligence to a max does bring other mental illnesses especially if you have an underlying untreated mental illness. But I’m glad she’s safe now and her sister found this video ❤

This breaks my heart! I have a teen with schizophrenia/bipolar type and it’s so very important to take the proper measures to ensure their safety before they turn eighteen! Power of attorney and a secured residential treatment center needs to be in place before eighteen. It’s a lot of work but there are resources available to assist you. Praying for this young lady.❤🙏❤️
@@user-mv3oj4td7j My daughter is schizophrenic and I am already thinking about when she is legally able to leave this house and there’s not much you can do if you don’t have a plan. She will be in a full residential facility before she turns eighteen and with power of attorney can’t sign herself out. I am by no means an expert I’ve been on this journey with my child for four years. What I do know is having a plan and being proactive is necessary. My heart breaks for this young lady and her family is probably worried sick looking for her. Yes a residential facility is the best place for our children stricken with this awful disease.

Schizophrenia is an insidious, devastating condition to live with. My son was just diagnosed, and the hell he went through, all while appearing normal, was unimaginable. I hope she is safe, she needs to be in the hospital, poor thing is in psychosis.

My sibling went through a similar thing. Decided to stop talking meds was missing for 30days. I live in different state I told my mom I was going to find them. I flew into Atlanta drove the streets of Atlanta less then 24 hrs I located them far away from last known location. Born and raised there so I know ATL very well I can tell exactly were this young lady is at the time of the recording before he mentioned the street. It was far from over after they were discovered. When approach by any friend or family they would take off running. Had to do lay affidavits several times because they would get to hospital then let go because they didn't show signs of violence. So we waited them out 90 days later after being beat by summer heat and Storm we filled again once we knew they were wore out from the streets. They now take a shot instead of pill meds and when I tell you they are back to themselves and like whole nother person! I guess I understand mental illness a whole lot better and can't believe how taking meds makes a night and day difference. Peace to this young lady ❤️

They got off the routine because they felt normal for so long they felt they no longer needed to take the pill meds went down hill didn't know it. Now the take those same type of meds in 💉 form that last either 3 or 6 months in there system. If you're asking me of the pharma name of the drug I'll check for you
Also for anyone who has a family member or friends trying to figure out how to deal with some one going through such crisis out of control and refusing help as I mentioned before go to your local maniciple office with at least one other relative that has witness the behavior. Let them know you're there to file lay affidavit they will ask you to provide statements and examples of the behavior to present before a judge to basically sign an arrest warrant to intercept that person for purposes of safely transporting them to mental help facility to be evaluated but you will have to actively know where they can be located. Initially as I mentioned it was very frustrating because we had to do the process several times and they kept getting out because they played normal and displayed no violence dispite they had history of mental health issues. Each time they were released they got worst and worst because we were told they could not force meds on them without there consent however the last time we were told something different because my mom did have legal guardianship she could authorize the shot be given and if they refuse the it would be forced. At first I didn't want parts in the forcing because I thought about violation of there freedom but then I started to think about how bad off they were and roaming in the streets so I agreed. Long story short they had to take the shot in a few days I couldn't believe they were back because it literally was like they died and some one took over there spirit and they themselves said they love the shot now especially because they didn't have to keep up with pills. Story's later came out about how they got rob several times and beat up while they were out there.
This brings tears to my eyes to witness this. This beautiful young lady is vulnerable to predators. This is someone’s baby and for any parent, this has got to be hard to watch, especially being a parent of a 15 year old daughter and 12 year old son. Please Almighty Most High God, please protect this young lady and guide here to where she can get genuine help and care, safety and protection from the streets and predators. Amen/selah🙏🏾🌹😔

Yes, this is her grandmother who raised Sommer and 2 of her siblings. We have been dealing with this since Sommer went to the military at 19 and came out like this.

10:49 I feel so bad for the people in our country who suffer from mental illness. I was too young to remember the reason(s) that most of the mental hospitals in this nation were shut down, although I have no doubt there was considerable abuse happening within those walls and I’m sure that played into the decisions. However, 40 years later more and more people are diagnosed with some form of mental illness and they are mostly left to their own devices, especially once they turn 18 years old. Many turn to crime then end up in the prison system others turn to the streets where they end up addicted and homeless for many many years. This is the USA… surely we can find a better way. No one should have to suffer like so so many of the people you interview. This is a topic that makes my heart incredibly heavy, yet I feel helpless to do anything… thanks for sharing these interviews. My prayers are with you and all those whom you introduce us. I actually think it’s really bad that she was interviewed in this state. She wasn’t in a right state of mind to give her permission and it’s actually ruined her reputation.
I don’t think it ruined her reputation. It just showed that she is sick and that she needs help. Also showed people who never dealt with people like this what it looks like. I grew up with my mom like this they really think they are ok and they think they don’t need help, sometimes they don’t want help and you have to force them to get the help by getting them committed. My mom would just wonder the streets when she was sick and she had a lovely neat clean home.

She does indeed make music, and has been casted in multiple movies. Her mental health is compromised, maybe due to not being on medications at the moment. Not sure, but this is a sad situation. She isn’t in her right mind, out in the streets, hanging out with strange men. I pray that man didn’t take advantage of her situation. All I could think about was this..The reality is she is not going to stay safe. People would be quick to take advantage I’m sure. I don’t know her home life or history, regardless there should be more services helping those in need. Mental health, homelessness, financial issues etc. It’s a shame this country doesn’t prioritize these things. People would rather these people get hurt or die than even have to see it in America.
I work for a facility in Atlanta that helps schizophrenia, bipolar and depression patients. We help people like this all the time and have paid programs for them. My contact information is on my front page. Mental illness is real and we as a people need to take it more seriously.

She's having a psychotic episode. She probably was on meds at some point, then stopped. I recognized the signs before she disclosed her illnesses. My son is the same age and it started when he turned 16 as well. Because she's 26 years old, it makes it more difficult to help her with her illnesses, especially if she doesn't want the help. In her mind there is nothing wrong with her. I hope her loved ones see this video and locate her to convince her to get treatment. It's a terrible battle. I hope they don't give up on her. I went through hell with my son. Thankfully, he's been stable for the past two years and counting, but he also lives with us. I monitor everything from doctors appointments, daily living and I administer his meds. Can't be no other way. I was dying a slow death when my son was out in the streets homeless ( almost two years) not knowing wether he was dead or alive. My prayers were answered is how I will end this.

Praying for your son/family to remain on course. Please, ask a doctor to check whether your son has anemia or sickle cells. Most doctors don't test Black males (especially highly intelligent ones) for other ailments that affect their mental well-being. My nephew was in college when he suffered a mental breakdown. He was placed in a psych ward for 72 hours.
It broke my heart when he said: "Auntie, why are they giving me medication without knowing what's wrong with me?" At the time, a close friend was the hospital administrator, I warned them if anything happened to my nephew, all hell was going to break loose at the hospital. I told them to stop giving him psychosis drugs. My friend informed the staff and she was watchful over him until he was released.
BUT...I had to act quickly or he would've committed suicide taking psychosis meds that can cause suicidal ideation. My family and I watched him 24 hours per day. He couldn't even sleep, use the bathroom, or shower alone. We took everything out of the house that he could use to harm himself.
Then, I sought after a Black physician who called me in the middle of the night to inform me that my nephew had serious anemia. Google what happens to people, with untreated anemia. Mental confusion (cognitive impairment), hallucinations, brain fog, etc, are all symptoms of mental illnesses. God and his Black physician saved his life.
He still has some anxiety issues, but for the most part, he's been mentally stable. Every White physician was prescribing all sorts of psychosis medications without knowing what was wrong with him. We need to ensure that Black males get a yearly physical with lab work, and ensure labs are examined. Sorry so long-winded, but your post touched my heart.

I am bipolar and a veteran as well. I was homeless before the military and after. It took a while to get help and I’m still trying to get help but dang y’all please help us. A lot of us women are going through further problems after getting out. So much we go thru before, during , and after the military. ❤

The government is not going to do it, they use these people to wage their corporate wars. We as citizens and fellow humans need to ban together and help. As a woman myself, this hurts my soul. I come from a military and law enforcement family. I thought of opening up a non profit drop in housing for people like her. I just don't know where to start. I'm a paralegal by profession, my mom and brother are former mental health techs...my brother is now a psychiatric nurse, the other brother is a paramedic. I worked as a Income Maintenance Caseworker/Social worker and the trauma people go through, especially women, is soul draining. I want to help.

This is a good example of how hard it is to communicate with someone with a mental illness. Sadly parents get frustrated and give up on their own kids.
Sick people make people sick IF you don’t seek the proper help. It’s no logical reason for a sane per to communicate with a person in this state of mind. They have moments where you can get some information and it’s easy to tell if you know them. My son was diagnosed with schizophrenia at 21. He’s doing very well now at 24, but it takes consistent and knowing more than what this western society teaches for healing.

Without meds one day something really bad is going to happen. Even the courts can't force meds

I was once in a psych ward for depression and I remember a girl who was there who was just like this girl, same diagnosis, same movements, same behavior, she liked me and was tryna talk to me a lot but I just couldn’t have a conversation w her she was all over the place. I was only in that place for a week, that girl had been there for months. People like this need help 24/7, cannot be left alone and definitely shouldn’t be on drugs.

This is why I am passionate about educating minorities about mental health and the resources available I feel like so many of us never get the resources we truly need, my grandmother said I was being bratty when I could figure out my emotions or when I moped, when I had anxiety attacks she said they were tantrums when I was going through a plethora of emotions and when I wasn’t in right the state she would give me shelter pamphlets and etc when all I needed was help. She even told me I wasn’t that depressed because I didn’t kill myself yet. So I tried it, if the state didn’t mandate me receiving help I could’ve very well been like her. Once I got the help I needed it completely changed my trajectory in life. I’m 25 now, sound mental health, managing my psychosis like it’s nothing and now working in a hospital. It’s very much possible 🙏🏾 with the proper resources. I am proof.

She will be in a full residential facility before she turns eighteen and with power of attorney can’t sign herself out. I am by no means an expert I’ve been on this journey with my child for four years. What I do know is having a plan and being proactive is necessary. My heart breaks for this young lady and her family is probably worried sick looking for her. Yes a residential facility is the best place for our children stricken with this awful disease.

My sibling went through a similar thing. Decided to stop talking meds was missing for 30days. I live in different state I told my mom I was going to find them. I flew into Atlanta drove the streets of Atlanta less then 24 hrs I located them far away from last known location. Born and raised there so I know ATL very well I can tell exactly were this young lady is at the time of the recording before he mentioned the street. It was far from over after they were discovered. When approach by any friend or family they would take off running. Had to do lay affidavits several times because they would get to hospital then let go because they didn't show signs of violence. So we waited them out 90 days later after being beat by summer heat and Storm we filled again once we knew they were wore out from the streets. They now take a shot instead of pill meds and when I tell you they are back to themselves and like whole nother person! I guess I understand mental illness a whole lot better and can't believe how taking meds makes a night and day difference. Peace to this young lady ❤️

@@boundariessetinstone5893 Basically they was taking pills to help treat there mental condition how ever it was required to take daily. They got off the routine because they felt normal for so long they felt they no longer needed to take the pill meds went down hill didn't know it. Now the take those same type of meds in 💉 form that last either 3 or 6 months in there system. If you're asking me of the pharma name of the drug I'll check for you
Also for anyone who has a family member or friends trying to figure out how to deal with some one going through such crisis out of control and refusing help as I mentioned before go to your local maniciple office with at least one other relative that has witness the behavior. Let them know you're there to file lay affidavit they will ask you to provide statements and examples of the behavior to present before a judge to basically sign an arrest warrant to intercept that person for purposes of safely transporting them to mental help facility to be evaluated but you will have to actively know where they can be located. Initially as I mentioned it was very frustrating because we had to do the process several times and they kept getting out because they played normal and displayed no violence dispite they had history of mental health issues. Each time they were released they got worst and worst because we were told they could not force meds on them without there consent however the last time we were told something different because my mom did have legal guardianship she could authorize the shot be given and if they refuse the it would be forced. At first I didn't want parts in the forcing because I thought about violation of there freedom but then I started to think about how bad off they were and roaming in the streets so I agreed. Long story short they had to take the shot in a few days I couldn't believe they were back because it literally was like they died and some one took over there spirit and they themselves said they love the shot now especially because they didn't have to keep up with pills. Story's later came out about how they got rob several times and beat up while they were out there.

This is someone’s baby and for any parent, this has got to be hard to watch, especially being a parent of a 15 year old daughter and 12 year old son. 10:49 I feel so bad for the people in our country who suffer from mental illness. I was too young to remember the reason(s) that most of the mental hospitals in this nation were shut down, although I have no doubt there was considerable abuse happening within those walls and I’m sure that played into the decisions. However, 40 years later more and more people are diagnosed with some form of mental illness and they are mostly left to their own devices, especially once they turn 18 years old. Many turn to crime then end up in the prison system others turn to the streets where they end up addicted and homeless for many many years. This is the USA… surely we can find a better way. No one should have to suffer like so so many of the people you interview. This is a topic that makes my heart incredibly heavy, yet I feel helpless to do anything… thanks for sharing these interviews. My prayers are with you and all those whom you introduce us. I actually think it’s really bad that she was interviewed in this state. She wasn’t in a right state of mind to give her permission and it’s actually ruined her reputation.

I don’t think it ruined her reputation. It just showed that she is sick and that she needs help. Also showed people who never dealt with people like this what it looks like. I grew up with my mom like this they really think they are ok and they think they don’t need help, sometimes they don’t want help and you have to force them to get the help by getting them committed. My mom would just wonder the streets when she was sick and she had a lovely neat clean home.
