  • As the title of the video explains, these are my Top 3 Favourite Katame Waza Techniques including tutorials of each one.
There is also a bonus 4th technique at the end of the video coached by Isaac.
As I mention at the beginning of the video, my training partner for this video is former GB Judoka Isaac Hill.

All beautiful techniques that I'd like to try out; I think the first one you've shown in the past and maybe the sankaku, too, but I'm glad you covered them nonetheless.

Thank you...yes, get practising and let me know what you think of them!! Yes, you are correct...I have covered the initial turn over and the Sankaku variation before, but a long time ago...I'm slightly taken aback that you know that, thank you!!!

im seeing more ne waza finshes in judo than i can recall. are refs allowing more time when the opponent has failed a throw/turtled or flatened themselves out ?

I think that yes, that is part of the reason why, but I also think there is a fresh wave of Judoka who understand the importance of Ne Waza and they are capitalising on other Judoka's more relaxed attitude towards Katame Waza. I think that when refs were stricter with the time on the ground, a lot of Judoka thought, what's the point of investing too much time on learning good ground game when so much more focus was on standing.
