@@CrazyWharf625 You can skip the Heide Park :D nothing works there XD but yeah we have so many good theme parks and the Halloween Event at Movie Park isn't that bad either
Yeah but never forgett mainly only bavarian people wear Lederhosen the rest of germany does not ;) And no we don't eat our Bratwurst with Sauerkraut and don't hang a pickle on the christmas tree
I love the Germany pavilion!! It's important to note that for those who have not eaten at the Biergarten restaurant before, the tables seat 6-8 people if I remember correctly. So if you are by yourself or just two or three people, you might end up making new friends!
Aurora Cody great info to add. The wife and I had dinner there one night and we had fun meeting a great family from Colorado. It sure didn’t hurt that we all had liters of beer 🍻
I was talking to a co-worker that was in the military and stationed in Germany. He was telling me how a fast food restaurant had much less seating than those here in the states and it was common for a stranger to sit at your table. The large tables may be by design. Glad you mentioned this as it was just a few days ago the he and I were talking about this.
My problem as a german with the Germany Pavilion is that it portrays most of southern germany, especialy Bavaria, sooooooooo as someone from the northwestern part I feel kind of underwhelmed with the pavilion. To give you an idea what it feels like - imagine a USA Pavilion - but it's mostly based around Texas, all you see is Cowboy hats and boots and wild west stuff. This is not a critique of your video Tim - just my personal problem with the representation of germany shown at Epcot (and from reading the comment section I'm not alone). Other than that - great vid and hope you and Jen stay save in the next few days.
The American Adventure Pavilion is not far from your example: it's a Colonial-era New England piece of American History (reminiscent of perhaps Philadelphia), which is pretty limited both temporally and geographically as far as being representative of the country and its many cultures. The pavilion on display exists today *only* in historical tourist attractions and museums. It would be interesting to try to mitigate this effect by creating a mixed-culture presentation that blends elements from all over each country represented in the World Showcase, but doing so in a way that is still coherent and recognizable might be a challenge.
Yes. I wanted to comment the same thing. But I think the picture americans have from Germany is good represented. I also Never heard of the pickle in the tree thing, but I‘m also from the northwest of germany, maybe that‘s why. Don‘t get me wrong I love the video, but it is quite far off from actual Germany.
As a Canadian I understand your feelings 100% Our Pavilion represents the west coast with its mountains and streams and waterfalls and then parts of Quebec thanks to Le Cellier. The rest of my amazing country has no representation there at all. Its quite sad.
I think that goes for all of the pavilions in Epcot. I'm from Berlin, but still I could totally identify with a lot of the traditions shown in the Germany pavilion. And as far as I can tell, they did a pretty good job on the things they are showing! So it definitely is a display of southern Germany, but a pretty accurate display of the different foods, building types, traditional crafts etc.
I feel like this about the UK pavilion. I’m from Scotland and Scotland isn’t represented at all expect for the fact you can buy a Scotland sweatshirt. It’s mostly England/London that is represented which sucks because London is a tiny part of the UK
When I was little my mom would take me into Christmas shops like that but she would call it the hands behind your back store! So I wouldn’t break things
I went to Germany when I was in college and fell in love with a bottle of Apfelkorn (German apple liquor), but let's just say that it did not love me back. When you were showing the wines in the pavilion, I spotted Apfelkorn (bottom shelf, far left) and immediately got a bit green. haha
Ahhhh! What a coincidence that we were in World Showcase last night & we got treats from the caramel store! I fell in LOVE with the butter bar. Life changing stuff!
It is a German sweets brand, and in Germany they are called Toffifee. They also come in very different packaging. Strange that the German sweets you can buy in the German pavillion aren't the original German versions.
So loving this series of videos, I clicked so fast. It was a little strange however how you pointed out the fact that Germany has no attraction, because I thought you were going to touch on the fact that originally there was going to be the Rhine River Tour with the entrance being where the snack side is next to the Bier Garten. I wish Disney would have revisited this idea later on and actually added it. Also, now that there is no Snow White's Scary Adventure in the Magic Kingdom, and so many IPs coming to Epcot, it would be cool if they tore down that mural and added a new version of Snow White's Scary Adventure to the Germany Pavilion. There's still a good size show building back there, and I don't think the Bier Garten uses that entire space.
We love the pickle tradition! We do it in our family. Me and my siblings are all adults now and we still get competitive over who is gonna find the pickle first!
Greetings from Canada My husband and I ate at the German buffet years ago. Thank you for some fond memories. We call our granddaughter toodles. You're never too young to start loving Disney. 🤗
Tim...please take the time and talk to a cast member at the crystal store about the $37k castle. It's fascinating! I learned so much. We spent probably 20-30 mins learning about those castles.
Toffifay is amazing and has been available in Canada for a very long time! Its one of my childhood faves, and when I was a kid at Christmas time my dad would always get either a box of those or turtles for each of us girls in the family. Caramel half dome that has a whole hazelnut on the inside with some hazelnut cream and then a chocolate button shape top.
as a through bred German, my family and I go to the Germany pavilion every trip. Its a great taste of my culture and mother always says how it reminds her of home! Its also fun because my mom always talks to the staff in German!!!!
We have a town here in Michigan what German roots called Frankenmuth. While you were walking around the pavilion it reminded me of the town. In fact I am going there this weekend. It has a store called Bronners that is nothing but Christmas that is ginormus. And it is only closed 4 days a year.
Love this video! This looks like a pretty area! I especially love the Toy Store and the miniature train set! That caramel store looks yummy too! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for these Epcot videos. When I was younger I didn't care too much about world showcase, but now I think I would love spending a day there just looking at everything.
These pavilions vlogs are so much fun😍 Just a little German lesson... V in German is pronounced as F so Volkskeller is pronounced Folkskeller. You and Jenn has been a beacon of light for so many years for us.
When you've been watching Tim Tracker long enough, that your reaction to the laser cut photos is, "That's pretty neat", at the exact time that Tim says, "That's pretty neat".
It amazes me that the German Restaurant STILL does not serve German Potato Salad! I believe they did back in the 90s for awhile, but havent served it since. Why??!!
I love watching the Trackers, always great when a new video hits while I'm online! My fiance is most excited for Germany, so I am excited to watch this with him!
My husband gets an etched glass with a character on it every time we go on vacation to Epcot. He does that while I get caramel snacks and beer. Love the Germany pavillion.
My family’s favorite country...we visit every time we go to WDW. The Biergarten is our favorite- we like eating here around Christmas bc the food and show are awesome! Try it again in December. Love your vlogs! I watch every time I’m homesick for WDW.
Toffifay is amazing!! You can buy it at like Target in the candy aisle though, you don't have to get it from Disney. Similar in taste to Ferrero Rocher but with that nice caramel taste and so much better. 😍😍😍
Really like these World Showcase nation tours. Since it's always go, go, go when I'm in the world I blow right past most countries, but they have some neat stuff!
Hey Tim and Jen I watch You guys everyday and you inspire me to be funn and kind and I just wanted to say I’m a Disney fanfic to thank you for all you do
Tim, I'm really loving these videos. I apparently have not spent enough time in any of the pavilions because I keep seeing things on your videos that I've never seen in person. Adding so many things to my To-Do list. Thank you!
Hey Tim. Regarding the Toffifee. These are caramel cups containing nougat, caramel, and a hazelnut, topped with a chocolate button. They are absolutely lovely but once you started eating them, you can't stop anymore.
There WAS going to be a ride in the German pavilion but it ended up being scraped. The wall next to the restaurant where the mural is, would have have been the entrance.
We have Toffifay here in Canada as well except it is packaged in a box similar to a box of chocolates. It's a whole hazelnut surrounded by caramel, chocolate hazelnut filling and a drop of chocolate on top. They are VERY good!
Thank you Tim for making these videos. I have been to Epcot park several times and we always run out of time when it comes to the world showcase. I have yet to see it in its entirety. We just left in June and we only saw three pavilions. We are going back next year in March so I was hoping to be able to finish reviewing the pavilions then. But in the event we run out of time yet again at least I know I have watched your videos.
Ding dang! We missed you by one day. It started pouring on us as we headed to the Germany Pavilion on Monday afternoon as well. Loving the Epcot World Showcase series!
11:28 the sausage on the right is called "liver sausage" (Leberwurst in German). Its not actually made out of liver apparently but very popular in Germany
Thanks for yet another great video that always makes me smile. As for the candy here in Canada we always have Toffifee at Christmas time. You have to try them. They are delicious and chances are you can not eat just one, lol.
We really like these Adventures Around the World Showcase videos! Those better be some special nutcrackers for $210! Very impressive that Tim can still take video while it is pouring rain.
Toffifay and Knoppers are so good!!! Toffifay are candies, a hazelnut coated in chocolate then caramel. Knoppers are like chocolate hazelnut wafer cookies. :D been eating them both my whole life!
Nice Video Tim, I like TheTimTracker. Brings me back every time. I´m from Vienna, Austria. It´s funny how you pronounce the german words :) Thanks for the good work! Servus und Baba aus Wien!
A whole Werther's Original store sounds incredible. In the UK they're kind of stereotyped as an old people's sweet. But at 23 I proudly always have a couple at the bottom of my bag.
Ah I LOVE the nutcrackers and lasercut items! I have a lasercut miniature grandfather clock from Busch Gardens I got in July. Its so beautiful. Wow, Im surprised to see the Hummels there because my mom loves them and I thought they were not being made anymore. Idk. The food looks SO GOOD! Oh my gosh!! StOP! (No dont please lol). You make GREAT videos!
tim, that large mural in the archway when you go into the summerfest was actually supposed to be an entrance to a ride that was supposed to be included when epcot opened in 1982. the sponser backed out and it was never finished, but behind that is a large area that was to be the load. its used for storage now but it can easily be opened if they decided to put a ride back in.
i could be mistaken, but i think it was to be a boat ride down the rhine river depicting all of germanys areas, from mountains to the cities. picture a circlevision movie found at other pavillions but in a boat
Thank you for this! We have a lot of German in our ancestry and it is nice to be able to go to this pavilion and sample some of the goods from Germany. We have eaten at the Biergarten restaurant and would skip on future visits as we too have been spoiled with really good traditional German food. We also do the pickle ornament too!
They had the chance to finally make a ride when Tangled was released and turned out to be a big hit, but they didn't. :( Instead they only put Rapunzel's miniature tower near the miniature train ride.
Love your videos! It's not surprising there's a Christmas ornament store in the German pavilion. For YRS the best ornaments came from German towns. May I suggest "The Glassblower" triology for anyone wanting to know more.
The "stuff" in the salad section is most likely liverwurst. My in-laws are German (my parents-in-law came over in the 60's to work in the U.S.), and that's a pretty typical type of cold salad/appetizer spread. My sister-in-laws _love_ liverwurst. I find it icky. :) i actually really enjoy the Biergarten- nice break from the heat and all the walking and really quite good for a buffet and nice selection of traditional foods. And of course the beer is really awesome! I've tried to buy lederhosen and dirndls (the traditional female dress) for my kids and they're crazy-expensive, even in Germany. Most of the pieces are handmade and time consuming to work, and the dirndl usually has extensive embroidery on it. Thank you for the tour, Tim!
I was there in 2005. Wow Germany has changed. There was a chocolate store when I was there and you could get a little box sample of Ghirardelli chocolates and Toblerone that you don’t see in stores.
Yum Werther's Original! FYI Toffifay is amazing. It's like nutella and caramel had a baby. It's so good, my little old lady loving candy heart is beating hard! 😁😁😁
Said to another person who kind of argued the same thing: Yea, I think they're trying to represent highlights and the most representative aspects of countries. Even the American pavilion is basically just based on Washington D.C./originating America, and nothing else. It goes for all of the pavilions, but I don't think they were trying to be non-inclusive. They have to pick and choose or else the pavilions would be either very scattered with small sections or giant in size. It's a fair thing to say. Kind of annoys me personally, despite being American, that the America pavilion has the huge building and main show but almost all of the other countries don't really have anything but shops. I think it was well-made for what it is and what they had.
Hey Tim, I hope the German Restaurant you're referencing is the Willow Tree Cafe in Sanford!! Their big Oktoberfest is this weekend, you should come check it out!
I literally just discovered your amazing videos a couple of months ago and I love them! Visiting in November and they are amazing to help planning! Thank you!
I said it before and I’ll say it again THANK YOU for doing this series!!!
We love the Germany Pavilion at Epcot, the architecture of the buildings is beautiful and the miniature trains are definitely a highlight!
Yeah Germany is beautiful. Neben dem Europa Park und dem Phantasialand haben wir halt auch Kultur zu bieten :D
And Holiday Park, Hansa Park, Erlebnispark Tripsdrill, Heide Park, Frezeitpark Plohn, and so many others
@@CrazyWharf625 You can skip the Heide Park :D nothing works there XD but yeah we have so many good theme parks and the Halloween Event at Movie Park isn't that bad either

Why eat there when you can go to the houfbrau house in munich
So it's a lot like Oktoberfest or fruhlingsfest would be! But probably a little toned down, haha

lol
Tofifay is a single hazelnut, within a bit of praline creme within a tiny caramel bowl with a lil bit of chocolate on top!!
*Toffifee
I’m sold.
... and once you start eating them, you won't stop anymore.
*tofifay is the spelling on the package tim found!
It is probably due to trademark rights? its funny as Storck and Werthers are the same company.

Busch Garden Williamsburg has a German Rhine River tour like you are describing

Julie Dailey The Fam Frankenmuth is the best!
3:07 they're good. It's a little caramel bowl with a hazelnut and a filling, then has a bit of chocolate on top. I recommend them
Reminds me a lot of Frankenmuth in Michigan but in MI its a whole entire town.
I loved the food and beer!! The band was super fun and we met the coolest people there!! Definitely the highlight of my trip to epcot!!😋😍

OpTic StArScReAm me too! That’s why I watch every time they post haha
My husband gets an etched glass with a character on it every time we go on vacation to Epcot. He does that while I get caramel snacks and beer. Love the Germany pavillion.
I'm always grateful when you do these. When I go I may not have time to see everything. You fill in the blanks very nicely. Thank you.

@11:18 you are looking at Leberwurst (liver pate) and Fleischwurst (sausage which mostly is sliced up and used as meat in bread rolls / sandwiches)
I have worked there as a cultural representative from summer 2013 to summer 2014, so thank you so much for this throwback 😊 I miss it every day
That bathroom is the quietest bathroom and nicely decorated in showcase I think
As a person who has actually been to Germany, they are pretty spot on with the designs of older buildings.
It's true! I'm German and when I visited I was like 'good job Disney, pretty much every old town center or market place in Germany looks like that' 😂👌
How can anyone dislike Tim and Jenn videos. They are the best you tubers. Thanks for all you do.
Toffifay is awesome. It is like a hazelnut, wrapped in Werthers, then topped with chocolate.

Stupid Eisner. He also canceled the Africa pavilion as well.
Oooh love the wood carved frames. I had no clue they were in Germany. Awesome vlog series guys.
Thanks for the comprehensive look at the pavilions. I really like this series of videos.
We have Toffifay here in Canada as well except it is packaged in a box similar to a box of chocolates. It's a whole hazelnut surrounded by caramel, chocolate hazelnut filling and a drop of chocolate on top. They are VERY good!
Danka Schoen Tim!
I anxiously await every edition of this World Showcase Exploration.
PROST!!
The Toffifay candy is a must try if you've never had it....they are so good.

That family at the end was from Maryville! That’s where I’m from!
My guess is the train area is based off of an attraction place in Germany called Miniatur Wunderland.
Nice Video Tim, I like TheTimTracker. Brings me back every time. I´m from Vienna, Austria. It´s funny how you pronounce the german words :) Thanks for the good work! Servus und Baba aus Wien!

Really enjoying this series! We didnt get to visit Epcot on our trip in August and this gives us a little taste of what to expect next time!
Nice work under the umbrella! Your work is the best

I Iove Karmel Kuche - it is a must do every trip to get one of the milk chocolate covered sea salt caramels!!
Cool :) I have dad the German Buffet and a Flight , 5 different Beer's at the Beir Garden with family about 8 year's ago, fun :)
had
Thank you for this! We have a lot of German in our ancestry and it is nice to be able to go to this pavilion and sample some of the goods from Germany. We have eaten at the Biergarten restaurant and would skip on future visits as we too have been spoiled with really good traditional German food. We also do the pickle ornament too!
I'm loving this pavillion series! Will you do another for Christmas, showing the different traditions from each country please?
My favorite pavilion. I love the pretzels. But my favorite thing to do is watch the trains!
Germany almost had a ride! Maybe one day they'll build it.
Just as soon as they make a german movie
The ride was a boat and the launch area is still hidden behind that wall in the Summerhaus. Maybe one day but for now it is a storage area.
@thetimtracker Was good to meet you in Old Port Royale today
They had the chance to finally make a ride when Tangled was released and turned out to be a big hit, but they didn't. :( Instead they only put Rapunzel's miniature tower near the miniature train ride.
Like Snow White or Tangled
Can’t wait to check out every single thing you’ve shown in these videos when I’m in WDW in December! Thanks for taking us with you ❤️
When my wife and I were in WDW in February 2017 the beer garden was my wife's and my favorite restaurant.
Amy Brockway-Jackl we call it braunschweiger. It could be either.
Toffifay are delicious. Chewy and soft. We have them in Canada too. Try them if you like hazelnuts

I live in Virginia where bush gardens Williamsburg is, we have a big dining hall just like that place! Funny
I'm not a beer drinker, but I did try the grapefruit beer in the Germany pavilion - not bad! :D
I really enjoy this serie where you show pavilions! :)
Every time we go to the Germany pavilion, we have to get the Carmel Popcorn there. It is amazing, it tastes so good
I was there in 2005. Wow Germany has changed. There was a chocolate store when I was there and you could get a little box sample of Ghirardelli chocolates and Toblerone that you don’t see in stores.
Okay I gotta know where this German restaurant is now. The best German food I’ve had was a place in st Pete, but have yet to find one in Orlando.
Ah Tim I love your videos! I love the Germany pavilion so much! I live in Kitchener, Ontario - home to the world’s 2nd largest Oktoberfest!
I love Disney video plz do more they are so awesome
Great tour Tim. Thank you.
Yum Werther's Original! FYI Toffifay is amazing. It's like nutella and caramel had a baby. It's so good, my little old lady loving candy heart is beating hard! 😁😁😁

Toffifay has been sold in the states since the Mid/late 70's.
they should call it the bavaria pavillion lol
Said to another person who kind of argued the same thing:
Yea, I think they're trying to represent highlights and the most representative aspects of countries.
Bavaria is the best part of Germany and Disney knows that.
