I’m not really into grimey hip-hop, so I didn’t immediately vibe with “Boom.” But. BUT. It just kept evolving and layering, and by the end, I think it wonderfully encapsulates the richness, complexity, and spirit of NMIXX in a single song.

It's hilarious that this is your guys' first exposure to the hardcore NMIXX changeup. When you finally get around to O.O, I think you'll see the ways that Dash pays homage to it. Anyway, this entire comeback has been amazing. The whole Fe3O4 album is fantastic, we get 30 minutes of Bae on Lee Mujin Service, killer performances and stage practices, you two found NMIXX at a great time.

Anyways, regarding the MV meaning, if you want an explanation about it is (this is my own personal perspective based on what i know about their lore since debut)
Uhm? First the MV has 3 sections:
1. An abandoned building or like a prison
2. City
3. Mixtopia
1. The abandoned building or prison symbolizes their fear or like the one contaminating them to be free or to dream and explore mixxtopia (that’s why there is a scene where lily throwing bombs everywhere in order to escape, haewon using sharp object for counting or calculating the days they’re been inside or remaining time, jiwoo using a hammer destroying the walls, sullyoon surrounded by her escape plan/blueprint, kyujin stock on a maze and bae is like looking everywhere planning on how to escape from it)
2. The city symbolizes as reality of music nowadays like trendy music, mainstream or sounds thats too plain (no experimentation musicly or new type of sound) thats why there is a scene were haewon is DASHing around and who ever she pass through changes (in explanation, its like who ever listen to their music will either get confused to it or love it) and that is why there is alao a scene where they like standing in the middle of the road and alot of stuff like peacock a zibra and a lot of colorful things (in explanation to that is they were trying to build their own mixxtopia in that reality world)
- also ZEBRA symbolizes individuality and uniqueness. Zebras' black and white stripes make them easily recognisable and stand out from other animals(unique music). As a symbol, zebras represent embracing one's individuality(each members talent) and celebrating what makes you unique.
3. MIXXTOPIA is the part were the change up happen (the explanation is already at #2) but to be exact thats what they want their world to be, a MIXXTOPIA a world were every one will recognize and love them. So if you compared what they were doing in the reality world to their dream world i think they still have a long way to go and that’s the part of their lore….. The Journey towards their dream world MIXXTOPIA.

I do think this title track and album are “peak so far.” More than before, the production and arrangement are really putting the vocal interplay at the forefront. While previous songs had plenty of individual flourishes, this album amps up the layering and harmonies.
I dunno about you, but one of my pet peeves with most group production these days is that the vocal arrangements are “let’s take turns” one-at-a-time, maybe with a couple ad lib accents in the back. But in Fe3O4, we’re seeing so much interplay of harmonies and contrasting tones. Y’know, the difference of having a group doing things together-but-separately versus together-in-dialogue. I’m sorry, I can’t place them at the same level ad hoc jazzy vocal playfulness of Mamamoo just yet, but they undoubtedly have the right tools, and it seems the A&R team is now taking them further in that direction. Very, very welcome development.

There’s no one comparable in the new gen yet, a couple of groups might be capable but definitely not even close to their level of doing live, only mamamoo from 3rd gen can do it I think but again their dancing not on par so can never really know.
