I was thinking that you could just have a spring-loaded sliding grip be attached to the center gear bar, so when you push the blade in up to the guard, you can just keep pushing to extend the teeth. This is very close to a fantasy concept that actually works, kind of. Okay, after seeing all the videos, this is the only one that I can vote for. There were some very pretty knives, but most weren't very fantastic or replicating an existing design. It came down to the whip sword and this, and this beats the whip sword in originality and execution. Congratulations.
Wowers that's definitely unreal and very unique design there Rob. Wow that's awesome. Can't wait to see more videos soon my friend. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Making. God bless.
Subbed. You and the German whip sword are the clear winners 🏆in this challenge... Unless someone can remember how to do alchemy and make real Damascus Edit: I thought this was going to be a chainsaw but it's still really cool and functional. Whip sword wins imho
Very cool design! I love how smooth, and firm the mechanism seems! I can see why you kept clicking it in and out in the video - it looks really satisfying to play with! World's most dangerous fidget toy? 😜
Awesome build! It reminds me of the weapons they used to make from the rostrums of Sawfish. The guard makes me think it would not only look better, but function better too as a push dagger.
Hmm... definitely in the top 3 for me in voting... But I do have a concern about the user experience. One would have to use their other hand in order to deploy and retract the ribs. I would have liked to have seen a single hand action or trigger for that.

Actually this might be practical too, the teeth would allow you to use it like a swordbreaker and disable the opponent's weapon, not to mention the could be used as sort of parrying hooks
Ohh wow, that is cool as heck!!! From a practical stand point I was wondering if the guard facing the handle, does it get in the way of your hand at all?
I think you should make a colab with Sven at @njord Artisan! You would make amazing things together! Very cool knife! This was a challenge for you as a bladesmith and engineer! Love it!
Fantastic job Rob! This is a great unique knife. That retraction action is incredible. It looks so simple but we all know you had to really put some thought and effort into making this knife what it is. Look forward to seeing the more in depth build processes. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.
You essentially made a blade version of a Hawaiian War Club that was traditionally made out of hard wood and the blades were Sharks Teeth or sometimes Obsidian. Also the Aztec had a similar multi bladed war club. Nice take on making it not a club and futuristic with the retractable blades though
New subscriber. I enjoyed the "engineer/machinist approach" from the concept sketch, to use of 3D printing for "proof of concept" of the mechanism, to the final assembly. While I'm not sure I could consider this a "final, usable knife" without sharpened edges and "teeth", this build is certainly "epic" ... and has all of the traits of first-class movie weapons production. Thanks.
Just thinking up the design is impressive as hell to me, and the final product is awesome. Obviously the detailed work needed to make this is just amazing. I am gobstruck.

Mind-blowing! So many moving parts. Huge congrats brother! A real showpiece.
Thanks brother
Jesus, so many finicky little parts. Good job! 🔥🤘
INSANE dude, I had no idea from first glance in the pics and thumb that all of that was going on, really impressive. Also I want your table
Great build, Rob! The teeth retracting is awesome!
Thanks Denis for making me part of the challenge
Man... that's one of the coolest knives I've ever seen. Very slick!
love ur channel too my guy!!
Never mind out of the box, that’s out of this universe!
That definitely ticks all the Fantasy boxes. Absolutely epic!
This is certainly the most unique knife I've ever seen.

Oh wow! that is such a cool design!! Fantasy build, through and through. Love it!
Dang that’s very cool 🔥🔥
very cool. maybe you could upgrade. have the handle twist to extend the little blades. then its a stab, twist, more carnage sort of thing.....ha!
Wowers that's definitely unreal and very unique design there Rob. Wow that's awesome. Can't wait to see more videos soon my friend. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Making. God bless.
I NEED YOUR TABLE, I have a turbo cold side(compressor housing) tattooed on my forearm. Also, anyway we could get the 3d print files?
Really cool sword. Like a movie prop. Unique design. :)
Greetings,
Jeff

Congrats. You're very dry and boring but also highly intelligent and creative, an odd combination. You've earned a subscriber today. Thank you.

Mate you're absolutely crazy. Crazy like DaVinci. I still have a few to watch yet but you're my top pick so far.
I really can't decide if I think this is effing amazing, or if I hate it 🤣🤣. Either way, awesome job.

When holding the knife in use how are you going to activate the spikes? The trigger will be directly under your palm! But still looks mint 👌
Amazing work could have maybe done it so the blades pop out as you stab something kinda like a mechanical broadhead for hunting.

Great looking fantasy knife and a wonderful job making it as well!!!
Enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
The pop out blades make a very satisfying sound . Nice
What an absolutely Amazing Build!!! The sound of those spikes going in and out is so satisfying! Definitely subscribing :D
My first thought when you described the design would be to have the blades open and close attached by a rigid rod around a pivot point
Love it!
crazy build. you really know your machines! that knife would fit well in a scify movie!
Very nice work! And awesome machining work!
Damn!! That is insane!! True Fantasy Build!
This definently is winner of all knives in this fantasy challenge
This is definitely the best fantasy weapon! Plus, your table is really cool.

Now that’s intuitive!! Great build man!🔥👌🏻

Thanks brother
Wow. I am glad that you got in on this challenge, so I could find your channel. That thing is absolutely wicked.
That the singular most awesome breach of the Geneva convention I have ever seen
Fantastic build! Looking forward to the next videos too 😁
