When you realize that all of the bad things not white people were doing in *ToD* was _against_ the cultural norm, it's not really "culturally insensitive", is it?
Not it wasn’t. Tarantino spent way to much time enjoying scenes where Jews were killed and murdered. The star of the movie was a nazi Jew hunter who lives. That movie is an abomination.
I left this comment on the original vid, but I LOVE this fact! We Jews get told growing up to "not look into the Ark" (where they keep the torahs) during services, and the Nazis end up dying because of this distinct lack of care for Jewish culture! It's not just "haha Nazis dying" but it's also poetic justice! Judaism killed the Nazis at the end of the movie!
Yeah, the concept of the Holy of Holies killing anyone who is sinful or unclean is in the bible, as well as the story of Uzzah who died when touching the Ark of the Covenant.
One of my favourite shots in the film is when the ark burns the Swastika off the box it's being stored in, as if the symbol literally cannot exist within it's presence.
My favorite shot was when Stephen Spielberg did something to Heather O'Rourke that we can't talk about on UA-cam. Now that's a piece of filmmaking history.
@@argylemanni280 Wow, apparently you can't talk about it anywhere, because no one's reported anything on it! It's also kinda funny how Steven Spielberg directed both Raiders Of The Lost Arc: A movie where the Nazis are portrayed as pretty watered down, cartoonishly evil grunts. And they are killed in a awesome horror scene. And he also directed Schindler's List: where the nazis are portrayed as... Well real humans. Which is so much more scary and disgusting. It's easy to forget that nazis were real people. Goes to show just how depraved and evil we can be
Secret lore is that Belloq is a French Jew of Cohen ancestry. That's why he was so interested in opening the Ark using the ritual, and why he thought he could get away with it. His mistake was not realizing that God is not merely a Jew, but He is also a Frenchman and He would not tolerate Belloq's disloyalty to France.
The comment section has more anti-Spielberg and "lulz Jewz" comments than I expected. Not many, but I'd have more quarters than in the "but it is funny that it happened twice" meme.
It's funny but I never thought Indy was an overtly Nazi hating series of film. People go on like its some defining feature of his films but it was always subtle in many ways in the original films.
i've heard it across many different areas of the internet and the consensus is: Spielberg is racist against germans and never believed in the success of ze autobahn
In hindsight yea, but most americans watching it just thought it was WWII film but without dealing with annoying bits like chain of command. That's why it was popular. If someone says they don't like Temple of Doom, I think that's the major reason why. If he was slapping 'japs' instead of cultists, I think people would of enjoyed it more.
I've recently rewatched the entirety of the trilogy for the first time after sometime between 20 to 30 years and I have to say the movies aren't political or even cerebral (part 3 comes close, regarding the latter).
@@kinnikuboneman it was based on the old adventure serials of the 30s and 40s. an adventurer hunting for a lost treasure and fighting nazis is a classic setting. nothing to do with judaism.
