Maxine Brown, wherever you are, I just want to thank you for this wonderful gift. I can’t calculate the hours I’ve spent listening to this song. Sometimes I’ll play the CD while I’m driving, and I just hit repeat over and over. Sometimes I’ll be up late at night and decide to listen to it over and over. It mesmerizes me. I love it so much. ❤
I rememeber sitting at the Apollo all day watching each show (in those days they did not put you out. They showed a movie, a comedian then the musical event several time a day.) Maxine Brown changed her gown for each performance. I thought she was so glamorous.
I was 10 when she performed this song. I remember the song when I was a kid. What a talented lady. This is how you sing and performed. She deserves all the accolades .
I first heard Maxine Brown on some compilation of music from the sixties. I was instantly hooked, That voice, the voicing, so expressive. To see her perform now, I feel privileged. Thank you for those who held on and shared these tapes.
Anybody else besides me noticed a young Bernie Worrell playing the piano? I forgot that he was in her band right before he joined Funkadelic. What a historic clip! Good stuff!!!
Darryl Jackson HOW CAN YOU NOT NOTICE THE GREAT MR. BERNIE WORRELL I REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME I SAW HIM PLAY WAS BEHIND HER AT THE APOLLO AND AGAIN AT THE APOLLO WITH CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD BERNIE WORRELL WAS AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE GREATEST KEYBOARDIST OF OUR TIME🎹🎼
Thank you, very much! Who would have known, at this time, how much he & George, were going to revolutionize music? Makes me want to take out, one of my copies of, "Flashlight," Right Now! Bernie was responsible for jus' about, 100% of this! Get Down! {There are, what? A bout a dozen, `different versions:' Original single, 4 + minute version, up to about 10 minutes, plus live - may very well never end! Hope not!}
I was brought up listening to my eldest brothers records and this was one 8n them. Stayed in my psyche for 55 years and THIS is my 1st time I hear her LIVERPOOL! !!! Maxine and her band were all tight and no one skipped a beat. Utter synchronicity AND STILL SHE LIVERPOOL. Bless you iconic woman. 💜💜
Awesome performance, no dubbed vocals, no lip syncing, no auto tune; she didn't have any background vocalists to hide her voice behind, just real singing with live musicians
Hey TENEKA WYATT, sorry young lady, but I hate to tell you, that was Definitely not a look of love, it's a look of another four letter word that begins with an L😛🤪😜🙃 and ends with a T
This is super. Maxine Brown. She is quite a performer. This really brings back the memories. She's one of the all-time greats I appreciate your sharing this treasure with the world.
I HAVEN'T HEARD THIS SONG IN YEAR'S, I WAS 12 YRS OLD WHEN THIS CAME OUT. YES I WAS YOUNG BUT I LOVED MUSIC, DIDN'T HAVE A GIRL FRIEND OR ANYTHING, I JUST LOVED THE SONG HEARING IT ON THE RADIO 💖💃🎤
January covid-19 2022 A young Maxine Browns Innocents of Faith, belief, uplift, and encouragement tells us what's possible. Though there is no guarantee.
You do know she's wearing a wig don't you? The Ronettes were probably the only Black American female singers in the early through mid 1960's who didn't wear wigs or hair pieces on stage.
IT'S FUNNY THAT SHE MENTIONED THAT A LOT OF THE ENTERTAINERS ARE DOING ROCK AND OTHER THINGS THEN HER MUSICAL DIRECTOR MR.BERNIE WORRELL WOUND UP IN "FUNKADELIC" SHE KNEW AHEAD OF TIME.
Holy Sh*t this is wonderful, I love her always, , stumbled on this, she sounds great and looks fantastic, that band are great, they' have a Young/Holt Unlimted vibe about them. Just a great piece of film, the guitarist sounds like the same who plays on Maxine's "Seems you foresaken our love" the jazz /soul licks..........peace and love out to you Maxine XXX
So i suppose this is what you get when truly great songwriters come up with a great song and get a truly great singer to sing it with great musicians to back her.
Thank you for this treasure! Great sound and film quality. I was in 3rd or 4th grade when this came out and I remember singing along when this was played on the radio.
I was so blessed to be able to attend a Maxine Brown show at Mr. Kelly's in Chicago Ill. in 1968-1969, while going to college , and she was the best then and still can sing so sweetly, last seen at a Jerry Blavat concert at the Kimmel Center here in Philly a few years ago. I loved see Val Shively of R.& B. Records in Upper Darbyat the show as I know they are friends.
wow, just wow....and filmed the same year as her Out Of Sight Epic album with her wonderful crossover side 'Just Give Me One Good Reason'. Many thanks Venus

The late great bere
She's fantastic! This is what you call natural talent and her band backs her nicely.
The songwriters, Gerry Goffin & Carole King, is not so bad either.
Vastly underrated --- the woman's glamorous, and a natural entertainer who thinks fast on her feet. Sounds great too!
Maxine has a beautiful voice. Awesome performance 👑🎶🧡
She is awesome, used to see her at The Apollo around !968, she was superb!

I had no idea she was the one to do this song first, I always thought it was Aretha Franklin
Classic soul from a class lady.
Oh man, she has an amazing voice!!!
This has me in tears to see her perform this "live".

*I hear her LIVE, not Liverpool ffs! !)
Performances like this show us what we are missing now. Great song, great performer. Just a delight.
Absolutely love when she belts out "FAITH in you!" Gives me goosebumps.
Awesome performance, no dubbed vocals, no lip syncing, no auto tune; she didn't have any background vocalists to hide her voice behind, just real singing with live musicians

LOOK! the thigh high boots were in way back in 1968 .... HA! HA! HA!
Her hair is so fabulous. The 1960’s gave birth to some great hair.
You do know she's wearing a wig don't you? The Ronettes were probably the only Black American female singers in the early through mid 1960's who didn't wear wigs or hair pieces on stage.
