Man , your videos are top notch!! It's really a shame they don't get more views! I really want to express my appreciation for your amazing work and i want to let you know that your videos have been extremely helpful for me !
hello, amazing lesson!!! One question, this technique use only when animation is allmost ready? Because if you use Space Switching, after bake on locator animation, after make offset. And for example show to lead animator and he will ask to do some changes in pose or in timing, this will mean go back, before you use this technique? This technique makes the body movements more alive. But better use in end of animation, like final polish?
Amazing video! How would space switching apply if I'm not using the world controller to move my characters? I usually use the cog and feet to move the character in world space.
It would depend on the animation you have to deliver, in that case. I can think that may be one could space switch an IK hand to COG space and then to head space, for instance, if the hand was travelling between the two places. Also, some times one has controllers that orient themselves automatically based on other controllers, and at time they glitch or their rotation becomes erratic. One could space switch their rotation to world space, and easily clean the glitches there (at that point you would use a world space controller), rather than counter animating. I've recently encountered this issue while recording a quadruped walk course, in which the rig would have some auto scapula rotations that glitched at times. That meant counter animating on the glitches. I am too old for that, so I that space switched the thing, and showed how to do so in the course.
