I was at this event for its entire duration. For the tv finals there were literally less than 60 audience people in the main seating area above the lanes. If I had to guess at most maybe 30 people up there. For the tv finals they moved some people from the main seating to the lane side bench seating which was very uncomfortable aluminum benches. I sat there. I actually bought my tickets in advance of the tournament like many others did , but the PBA was literally giving away tickets for seating and still no one came. In talking with a clerk at the Silver Legacy, she said as a local, she would not have known about the World Series Tournament had she not been working at the Hotel which was a sponsor for the PBA. My questions are: Where is audience? What happened that no one wanted to come or were unaware of such a fine event in a large City?
All of these comments are 90% negative. What these people do is incredible and i see like, "hey you got yellow teeth", "Hey your bad on TV". Well at least there on TV and they'll do way more than you ever will.
Quintero looked like a wannabe drug cartel leader with those glasses on. His dumb look and stupid attack on America makes him a perfect poster child for everything that is wrong with Mexico and why the USA wants to build a real tall wall fast. Additionally he is a dishonor to the sport of Bowling which was once a noble sport where the athletes were some of the most respected and highest paid professional competitors in the world. It is because of this lack of class in the modern game that bowling has been reduced to nothing more than a weekend distraction on a secondary ESPN channel, or an obscure CBS sports channel, or God forbid, the horrible quality Extra Frame. All the sponsorship is gone as well as the once classy fans that would throng the bowling stadium in their best suits and dresses to watch the masters perform. The giants of bowling announcing, Chris Schenkel, Billy Welu and Nelson Burton, who brought respect to the sport, have been replaced with a ring announcer shouting on the lanes like this is some boxing match. Sad. No wonder the modern professional bowler must keep their day job. Thanks a ton Quintero for putting one more nail in the coffin of professional bowling...
I was there for all events from qualifiers through the finals. I didn't care for how the pattern playoffs were done as well. The best I can figure is that the format was setup for tv run time. ESPN had a travel crew of about 25 people, and then they hire additional local help at each location, so their expenses are pretty high. Pressler, Pederson and and other would have to be paid also, I do not know if the PBA paid them or the ESPN.

There were only a total of about 170 entrants including the international players. Norm Duke was a no show. Parker Bohn, Liz Johnson and the like, were there, but they were gone fast as they did not make any of the cuts. Rhino Page, and Chris Barnes hung out all week, this was unusual. Most players left town once they were eliminated. O'Grady, EJ,and BJ Moore actually had really good ball carry for all 4 of the tournaments.
I was there and my guess is Dom was selected because his is a veteran player used to pressure. Dom had a pretty good look during the tournament. Cooley was hot and cold, and man when he lost his look he tried really drastic moves, imo. Lofting the ball from the left gutter towards the 3 pin, literally!
Judging from the comments when I hadn't seen it yet I thought the guy went on a full on rant about Trump instead of that one comment he made. Calm down y'all.

Coaches or the selected manager such as Tommy Jones? Most the coaches (ie Ball Reps) were sent there by the ball manufacturers. Storm had the largest number by far, so I imagine is cost Storm huge dollars for Hotel and food costs. My guess is Tommy Jones as manager was selected on the fly. He bowled well enough to make one of the cuts and take a win. The PBA may well have paid Tommy some nominal fee, but I do not know for sure.
