They shouldn’t straight out ban them. I know this is a very invasive predator but owners that care for them (most of the people who own these) would never let them go. The ban affects the people who love the frogs not people who abuse them. People who abuse or neglect these frogs will not be swayed by a ban. They’ll still let them go and hurt them. The genuine owners are the only ones that will listen and what they supposed to do if they already own them? These live 20 years like how do you expect them to feel when they simply already have this pet and love them and would never let it go.
I want to specify I understand banning sales in certain states that’s completely fine but if people already own these animals what in the world are we meant to do? Like simply owning this pet is now making us criminals?? It’s just odd.
@@TreadingtheBorderlands if it is,not native and is killing off Smolt salmon and trout..it should be illegal...I'm no prude so if you want to own a critter like that you should be regulated.
@@larryhutton8776 no op is right owning it should not be illegal but releasing it into a area we're it's not a native species is illegal as for regulation I'll agree with you in that part otherwise punishing people for the actions of stupid people will achieve nothing
I live in central wa and go frogging. I'm pretty sure that I ate some of these frogs last summer. Didn't know they were invasive. Could explain why I couldn't find any pictures of it in an old wa species book. I'm still alive, and haven't developed any brain damage or organ failure, well that I'm aware of. lol
Back in the 1940 and 60s they were imported heavily because they were used in labs as pregnancy tests some escaped and some were released by those labs as well as uninformed pet owners who didn't know how big they get. Unfortunately this is another attack on exotic pet owners they need to do better investigating before just saying its pet owners only. It wouldn't shock me if they have been there a long time it's just now with the change in weather patterns that they are thriving and multiplying.
oh, I want one as a pet.

This is a serious problem ,
If edible put it on the menu simple solution : I'm asd 🤪
You could be the first to try. There's no information on whether or not they are edible.
One good name for them are alien pancakes
All these humans talkin shit about my ACF homies
How do they even get here?
They became popular as pets because they're easy to take care of.
@@BlackTarH in that case, why aren't they banned?
Same way any invasive species gets in. Pets, hitchhiking in cargo, etc

Invasive people living on sidewalks. It's OK. Let's crack down on getting rid of frogs. 😆
Your ignorance is astounding.
Are they edible?
Anythings edible
You have to try and report back to everyone.
I am from South Africa. They're called platannas here. I wouldn't eat them, but they are perfect catfish bait.
You can eat frogs 🐸
