Lots of great info, thanks! Love the Kislev additions in particular, aside from the Hag Witch. Really fleshes out possible playstyles for them. Mutalith looks great ingame too, better than the trailer ironically.
Yuan Bo is going to be the next one man doomstack. Human/Dragon form with Net of Amontok & Comet of Cassandora which is possibly the most powerful bombardment spell outside of Ikits nuke. The kills that guy will get will be insane
Not much fire damage in Cathay army? Lore of Yang has 3 fire spell (2 attack spell and a buff) and alchemist can have a fire buff ability available. Then there is also the fire rocket, been single entity jade lion can actually hang out in the firing zone without getting completely destroyed, good luck to any infantry been tied down by a jade lion getting ground targeted, also work really well with yang caster, as can cast jade shield on the lion to limit friendly fire damage.
The Cockatrice is an amazing anti Cav for ranged units. Cav running up at you but in range of troops? Poison slow +passive slow. 1 big model, so it will take less from friendly fire.

And all of them got a dick move from CA too ! Cathay with their swap color Jet/Jade lions, Kislev are still seeking for Hags as lord choice and Tzeentch who fucked up his Tzaangors making them low tier unit. Everyone wins and loose at the same time. (Chaos Dwarfs still want Magma Cannons and Deathshriek Rocket their Skullcracker/Demon Engine choo choo)

Now though, because I won't be buying this dlc (to vote with my wallet regarding the price) it makes me feel that if I did play these factions I am now missing out. So instead of encouraging me to play them, the effect it has had is to make me want to hold off playing them. Until a time when the DLC can be purchased for a reasonable price. Way to do it backwards CA. Feel sorry for the devs and artists that get all their hard work sidelined by greedy suits.
i get that in theory this is a lot of content, but kislev and cathay really are the ones who really needed variety in the frontlines not just more niece pics. i love the asthetic of the kislev units esp. but they just dont fit well with the theme of the rest of the army. if this dlc had added more to just those two factions i would be much happier than an average dlc for three
The Tzaangors and Elemental of Beasts is also available for the Beastmen roster. Which made me very happy (although the beastmen are not lacking in single entity monsters, the Elemental beast is a powerhouse who is always welcome!)
Something to note, the Jet Lion is Yin rather than Yang, so if you want to send your Jade Longma into the enemy backline, just send a Jet Lion alongside them and they'll maintain the yin yang bonuses.
It's nice they added a new tier to the three unit tiers, making it four. Even as an experienced player there are some races I'm not familiar with, and it helps to gauge how threatening an unknown unit is at a glance.
I loved the part where Mother Ostankya said "It's Stankin' time" and raised the price of the DLC while simultaneously deleting content. Truly one of the lords of all time.
Brawling infantry wouldn't fit Cathay's strict and regimented formation fighting. Maybe if we ever get Yin Yin the Sea Dragon she could "borrow" some VCoast-flavored units for a change in playstyle, but it's certainly not something the Cathay roster needs when they have so many holes to fill yet.
Does the changeling when he changes into other lords, get mounts or anything? For example if he became Count Noctilus, can he get Roth's Moondial and the Necrofex Colossus mount? Or Franz with Deathclaw?
In the tabletop game, Tzaangors are hardly just Tzeentch beastmen. They're actually bird people with unique equipment. CA got lazy, they simply slapped Tzaangor horns onto regular beastmen and called it a day.
I am not surprised if some units will be buffed (such as the Tomb Kings' Carrion), while others might be altered or even nerfed (such as the Changeling). But seriously, I like Total War, because it has "totally changed" Warhammer into an epic world.
Kinda disappointed with Aekold, his whole thing was that he uncontrollably heals EVERYTHING around him, friends and foes, but since he and the rest of woc are so good in melee they got most use of it unless you screwed up. I really wanted him to have the same in this so that he could both be an incredible healer but one you need to be carefull with to not heal the enemy too much

Sortof surprised the crowmen don't have stalk. They hyped up this unit as a sneaky spy unit only to give it the ability to detect other stalking units better. I think a hero version would have been better.
They're informants and information gatherers, not strictly infiltrators. So having detection abilities is arguably more thematic.
@@tau-5794 the ability to detect stalking units is way less valuable as unit ability than stalk. There's no reason why they couldn't do both. My point is the unit is just meh. Basically just chaos furies or harpies with a slightly different visual appearance and a very niche ability with not very much actual utility.
making heroes require work unlike making harpy 2.0
They fly. Kinda hard for a flying unit to have stalk, what are they gonna do, hide behind clouds? 😅
@@raindrain1 You do realize that there are already flying units in the game that can get stalk?
Anyone notice the tier icon color is swapped between 2 and 3?
I am sad to see that we didn't get more Snow cat units
Really liking the new tier icons for units
Yeah I was caught off guard that tier IV's and tier V's now exist. I wonder if that's going to have any effect on battles.
Jet Lion actually looks really good for triggering harmony.
1200 is cheap for a decent monster too.
Lots of great info, thanks! Love the Kislev additions in particular, aside from the Hag Witch. Really fleshes out possible playstyles for them. Mutalith looks great ingame too, better than the trailer ironically.
Does the War Drum change its song in game when you switch abilities? Would be a cool touch imo.
Yes, not much. Quite accurate description given that utilising this feature requires you to build around it
I am watching this in the middle of the night and I am quite sure I must have dreamed a huge flying black starry bear rocket.
The Cockatrice is an amazing anti Cav for ranged units. Cav running up at you but in range of troops? Poison slow +passive slow. 1 big model, so it will take less from friendly fire.
What i like about the recent dlcs is the fact there is no clear winner, all 3 have really cool stuff compared to some of the one sided dlcs of the past.
@@Cyiel568 the games always had color swap units? do you actually not know what ROR are?
They are all losers
@@Cyiel568bro never played total warhammer
Zerk, it's worth noting that looks like they added tier 4 units. Previously we had only 3 tiers.
lez be real. a dlc is supposed to make me want to play the included factions. I've not yet played any of these three factions and was considering doing Cathay or Kislev next.
Cool units! Playing Tzeentch and Cathay again is gonna be good
yay a cathey leader that uses a weapon
I really wanted Tzaangor to be a magical Bestigor
i get that in theory this is a lot of content, but kislev and cathay really are the ones who really needed variety in the frontlines not just more niece pics. i love the asthetic of the kislev units esp. but they just dont fit well with the theme of the rest of the army. if this dlc had added more to just those two factions i would be much happier than an average dlc for three
The Tzaangors and Elemental of Beasts is also available for the Beastmen roster.
Which made me very happy (although the beastmen are not lacking in single entity monsters, the Elemental beast is a powerhouse who is always welcome!)
Maybe when they update all monochaos factions they'll let beastmen upgrade into the different types of gor
Oh shit really? Now that's a rare Beastman W right there.
Considering the silver shueld that us that big the tzaangors should have much more melee defense
Spirit bear looks like a good spell to use if you want to do damage to an empty piece of land.
Lmao there is always some nasty piece of lands who needs to pay against their crimes for being... there

wait the unit type description for the things in the woods is things in the wood? how very informative
Something to note, the Jet Lion is Yin rather than Yang, so if you want to send your Jade Longma into the enemy backline, just send a Jet Lion alongside them and they'll maintain the yin yang bonuses.
Should make the Crowmen Yin too if Yin melee units are going to be a thing. They're literally made from Yin magic.
Thanks for the video!
I recall some promo blurbs about another Ostankaya’s cauldron sprouting spider legs and crawling around. Did that not make it in?
That might’ve been too difficult to animate
i haven't heard about that before but it could be a campaign ability that isn't available in custom
Even with the drama around this DLC, I'm glad we get a new Zerk unit list as a result.
What drama
@@mosesborras3221Price increase
@@mosesborras3221 New DLC cost 25 bucks.
@@mosesborras3221High price, relatively little content for the price. The ratio is disappointing.
Alot of SEMs this DLC. I hope to see Cathay get some brawler infantry in the future but the general is a nice step forward.
Seems legit....Just gotta target units that are locked down in melee.
What is SEM?

@@Mishomish0 Single Entity Monster.
Does anyone else notice the Celestial General's giant hammer starts to jiggle when he touches it in his idle animation @ 1:10 🤨
The things in the woods look so fucking good, unbelievable.
Seeing a cosmic bear fly towards you might just be how some Chaos cults get started......just as planned.
Kislev's new units:
Babayaga her pets and furrys with crossbows
Interesting how a lot of units are now getting active abilities (basically their own spells).
Kinda disappointed with Aekold, his whole thing was that he uncontrollably heals EVERYTHING around him, friends and foes, but since he and the rest of woc are so good in melee they got most use of it unless you screwed up. I really wanted him to have the same in this so that he could both be an incredible healer but one you need to be carefull with to not heal the enemy too much
Seeing as he's a melee unit that would make it literally impossible for him to duel anything if it healed indiscriminantly.
The Things in the Wood are so adorable, I want one
Nice! Looking forward to play it
CA/GW: Now, we need to come up with a name for these bad boys, any suggestions?
Random Intern: You mean those things in the woods?
CA/GW: Wow, what an outstanding name, let’s use that yeahh!
They were models from Mordheim and that’s actually their names.

Huh the Incarnate Elemental of Beasts is labelled as Tier 4 and the Mutalith Vortex Beast is labelled as Tier 5. Are they changing the way thjey're labelling units moving forward, or do these 2 have special unlock conditions?
tiers have always been a thing its based on what level the settlements needs to be to get that unit the aspect of war need a tier 4 building to be recruitee there just making it more obvious
@@darkomihajlovski3135 Tier labelling on unit cards was introduced in Warhammer 3 and only ever went up to tier 3 (you can check out the unit browser and see that Phoenix guard for example have tier 3 on their unit card even though they're recruited at settlement tier 5). Tier 4 and 5 labelling has never existed before, but these 2 units have those labels.
These are great for catching up on the dlc while doing the dishes
With that christmassy colour scheme, the balewolves should be known as Stankya’s Little Helpers
Still no Jade warriors with spears... Welp, hope Radious will update quickly
I wish they made that hammer a bit smaller. I mean I know this is fantasy but to lift that thing you'd either have to make it out of cardboard or make it hollow. Hammers are all about getting dense material into a small area.
Unless the celestial general has significantly better stats on the flying longma it still won’t be even be worth taking over a shugengan. The shugengan brings a unique magic, buffs spell mastery, and has almost as decent melee stats as that general with 70 armour compared to 80, 55 MA 40MD. Yeah celestial general would have an extra buff to give but it will probably only be 35-55 metres so affect 2-3 units at most. And no other mount option is a bummer. Really disappointing that you are stuck with generals on a reskinned Pegasus.
