That part everybody was amazing, neighbors helped neighbors, the community helped each other. The National Guard was incredible. What has been traumatic and just beyond anything I can even explain is how awful the last year has been. It's been the battle of the insurance companies, and the adjusters, and the city and the state, and FEMA and the federal government and nothing is in line with anything else.”

"In a lot of ways Montpelier is still, still showing the scars, it’s showing the damage from the flood. It’s not over for some people who are here. On the other hand, we also have come back a lot. If you go downtown you’ll notice most of our buildings and businesses are reopened and most of the people are back in their houses and we are moving forward but it’s still going to take more time.”
