Dear Davud, hope you are well and enjoying your stay in Bangladesh. The people you met are known as Chakma. They look more like Chinese people, as they migrated from Cambodia and the surrounding areas to escape religious persecutions in their original homeland couple of centuries ago, settled down all over the Northeastern and Eastern part India including the hill tracts, which is in the Southeastern part of Bangladesh. However living in these parts of Bangladesh for centuries, although they are a distinct ethnic minority group, they have become fully integrated into mainstream Bangladeshi society.
Hi my dad and relatives come from Dhaka and Chittagong and have these features. We are Buddhist with the surname Barua that originate from these areas. Baruas have these slight oriental features. So basically Bengali Buddhists. We are a minority in terms of being non Muslim but no we are not tribal lol. Chakmas are also Buddhist and have these features. I'm born and brought up in London so ppl get so confused with my ethnic background as I'm fairly light skinned too. And to those comments saying we are not Bengali...yes we are 💯 although I can't comment on Chakmas as I believe they might have Burmese roots and are tribal
Chakma Tribe Is The Native Tribe Of Our Hill Tracts, Along With Many Other Ethnicities In Those Area’s Such As Chakma, Marma, Tanchangya, Muang, Tripura Etc. Although, Part Of Marma Tribe Came From Burma More Than Six Centuries Ago. And The Barua’s Such As Yourself And Mine Originally From Chittagong Division And Been Living Here For Five Thousand Years. And The Name Chattogram Used To Be Chaityagrama Which Means Town Of Buddhist Shrines.
We have different ethnicities people living in Bangladesh 🇧🇩 Chakma people, Monipuri people,Khashiya people,Bangali and some others. Chinese look peoples mostly living in mountains
Chākmā oral history holds that the tribe migrated from Champaknagar to Arakan, the western hill region of Burma, where they lived for about 100 years. Around the 16th century, they moved northwards into Bangladesh and were granted permission by the ruling Nawab of Bengal to settle in the hill region of Chittagong.
Short & sweet video Davud. You landed in an area where the people don't look very Bangladeshi...possibly their ancestors came from neighbouring countries. I see You didn't have basic knowledge about Bangladesh. Bengalis are the third-largest ethnic group in the world, after the Han Chinese and Arabs. Thus, they are the largest ethnic group among Indo-Europeans and the largest ethnic group in South Asia. Apart from Bangladesh and the Indian states of West Bengal, Tripura, Manipur, and Assam's Barak Valley, Bengali-majority populations also reside in India's union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, with significant populations in the Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh, Delhi, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Uttarakhand as well as Nepal's Province No. 1 The global Bengali diaspora (Bangladeshi Bengalis and Indian Bengalis) has well-established communities in the Middle East, Pakistan, Myanmar, the United Kingdom, the United States, Malaysia, Italy, Singapore, Maldives, Canada, Australia, Japan, and South Korea. Bengalis are a diverse group in terms of religious affiliations and practices. Today, approximately 67% are adherents of Islam with a large Hindu minority and sizable communities of Christians and Buddhists. Bengali Muslims, who live mainly in Bangladesh, primarily belong to the Sunni denomination. Bengali Hindus, who live primarily in West Bengal, Tripura, Assam's Barak Valley, Jharkhand, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, generally follow Shaktism or Vaishnavism, in addition to worshipping regional deities. There also exist small numbers of Bengali Christians, a large number of whom are descendants of Portuguese voyagers, as well as Bengali Buddhists, the bulk of whom belong to the Bengali-speaking Baruas in Chittagong and Rakhine (who should not be confused with other Buddhists of Bangladesh that belong to different ethnic groups). Like every large cultural group in history, Bengalis have greatly influenced and contributed to diverse fields, notably the arts and architecture, language, folklore, literature, politics, military, business, science, and technology.
Thanks for the 101 lesson on people's ethnicity. I think the beauty of the video is in the natural encounter between Davud and the environment. During the shooting, questions arise about the topics that "pop up" between photos. Davud always tries to share the knowledge of the subscribers with questions that intrigue him. We were lucky to have one subscriber ( like you) whose opinions are "more" than simple basic information. I thank you for that.
You are a great photographer! You should take out more pictures as you capture the true people of the country. You captured some beautiful images of women for Women's International Day. You could publish a book of all the pictures of the people you incounted in your journey, because you capture the images of the real people of the land. You could also have an exhibition in a gallery of your work when you take a break from traveling. Sometimes people will pay you for your images, and it is another way to earn an income. A 100 years from now people will view those pictures to see how people lived during our time, just like we like to look at pictures of people from the 1900s. Keep up the good work!
Nice response. I think exactly like you. The reason for this, Davud's camera becomes "human" the emotion and logic of the images are transferred to us by an artist.

They are Chakma people from South Eastern Bangladesh near the hills of Chittagong. They are Buddhist and Hindu and also live in North East India.
They are not related to Bengali people but more related to NE Indians or Burmese.
Thank you very much for coming to Bangladesh. Invitation to come to Sylhet. You have many beautiful places in Sylhet. You can visit. Hope you like it. Inshallah.
Davud has learnt the art of giving away free stuff 💞
There are 50+ non-Bengali small ethnic group's people in Bangladesh, but they are also Bangladeshi. Bengali, non Bengali, we all are Bangladeshi. ❤️
They are not bengalis.have some formal education.but they're Bangladeshi from citizenship point of view.
@@ferdousiakhtarsheema7683 Did I tell they are Bengalis?May be you have lack of formal education.
In the hilly areas of the South East Bangladesh, there are borders with India (Mizoram, Nagaland, Monipur) & Myanmar. In these areas Tribal people lives. Actually they are the people with different eyes, bose and complexion. Seems they derived from Thai-Chinese-Laos mix. They speak different native lamguages: like Chakma, Marma, Murong etc. They are very different from the Bulk of the population:Bangalee. In Cox Bazar areas many of these ethnic people came and settled from Myanmar. There are million Rohinga living in camps around Coxsbajar.
8:25 the dish you are eating I think it's pelve..... It's also made by Maharashtrian community in India..... Basically the soft roti is made up of all purpose flour and egg mix with watery consistency pour in non stick pan and make soft rotis... And in stuffing we add coconut, ghee, and sugar we cooked it until sugar melt and grated coconut become transparent.... At the end fill coconut stuffing in roti and make a roll and served it.... It's very delicious dish
They aren’t Bengali
They are Tribal. Chakma,Marma,Tripura,Khasi, Etc
East Asian Tibeto-burman Ethnicity.
Like bangladesh for many reason , dacca is diversty city , colourful culture , many choose option/varian dillicius culinery food too in bngldsh , greetings from jkrta
However living in these parts of Bangladesh for centuries, although they are a distinct ethnic minority group, they have become fully integrated into mainstream Bangladeshi society.
thanks brother .coming to Bangladesh

David, there are tribal minorities with mongoloid features in BD. They maybe ethnic Arakanese.
Amazing video.
Davud you are really very good man💙
Come visit Myanmar bro.Just now the situation is not so good.(Fan from Myanmar)
Short & sweet video Davud. You landed in an area where the people don't look very Bangladeshi...possibly their ancestors came from neighbouring countries. Seems that everywhere you go you there will be a lot of men watching you. You are a live magnet with your warm personality and physique 😆. Btw, I'd like to know why many of the elderly men's hair and beard are orange in colour...is it from henna & they do it to cover their grey hair & beard? Just asking...no offence 😆😆. But they look great & outstanding. Thanks & see you again Davud. 👍👍❤️❤️❤️
Yes its to color their grey hair with henna
@@dramatic0 Thanjs 👍

Davud brother super nice 👍
This is Bangladesh brother so many culture's in one country and lives together happily... We are developing our country together... I hope in 10-15 years you will get to see the developed Bangladesh... And you are always Welcome ❤
@@hanalevy3577 Very well said. As a kid I used to love to see the pictures of the different people around the world in the National Geographic.

Thank you Dan, appreciate your comment. In addition to authentic photos from different books, I go to the different markets to see the human texture and especially to talk to them if I can. I met charming and hospitable people. True, not everything is rosy, but it can be.
People from Burmese mayanmar descent live peacefully in Bangladesh with respect. Unfortunately, people of Bengali descent Rohingya are facing persecution in Burma Myanmar today.
Because burmese people are the most barbaric people on earth.
Difference between Muslim and non Muslim
No this is not true. I'm from Myanmar. You didn't get compare two different situations. Rohingya do not include as never one of our races and we don't do none of persecution on these people.

They are Ethnic people. That's why they looks different from Bangladeshi.
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩😍😍
David, you have no idea about the geography of Bangladesh. Cox's Bazar is south eastern part where mongoloid feature people live in all the way Myanmar, Thailand etc.
Thanks for the "compliment" to Davud. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about Bangladesh either. I rushed to Atlas to fill the gap.

Hi Davud, you literally Walked right past my Home. 🤣 Liked that you are exploring less popular places in Cox's Bazar. The people You gave chocolate's to are From an ethnic group Called Rakhine. I also belong to that ethnic Group. And we are not chinese or any mix of chinese-bangladeshi.
Please visit to Bandarban . You will see different culture there.
they have the look of East Asians. in North East India most of the people look like this. North East India is the most diverse part of India full of tribes. they are simple hard working people. although lot of their culture has been changed because half of North East Indian population has been converted by missionaries from USA and UK. still it is great place to visit. you will be surprised to see e how clean and green it is and how simple the people are. it is a paradise which is undiscovered by foreign tourists.

They are Bangladeshi but ethnic people. The more you visit hill tracks area you will find more people. Bangladesh is small country but a diverse people live in here side by side. we are not developed country, have lots of problems but after then we all are happy and proud of it as a Bangladeshi. You know you are in Coxsbazar, which is near to Myanmar, Singapore, Malaysia. It is Asia man.!!!!
No we arent diverse
Actually these people are Bangladeshis, they look different because cox bazar is close to Myanmar. North part is close to india so most looks Indian. If u go to chittagong hill tracks you find many ethnic people and they all are Bangladeshi origins
There are many ethnicities in Bangladesh. Also not all Bengalis in Bangladesh look the same. Bengalis are a mixed race. But they were not Bengalis, probably of Chakma or Tripura race. People of this race are more in Chittagong division especially in Bandarban, Khagrachari, Rangamati districts.
Experience of exploring culture history meet People makes journey more interesting Davud keep it up 🧿🪄💚🦋 lovely 🐬
