I literally split step correctly for 10mins, then after that I'm huffing and puffing against the fence. LOL

really appreciate the other cues for timing the split-step, especially jump "when your own ball is bouncing."
    several questions:
    (1) where is your paypal, cashapp, patreon, etc. for those who wish to contribute?
    (2) how do we time the split step when hitting against a wall?
    (3) could you make a video on how to properly control your groundstrokes' net clearance? i can only hit with height over the net by opening my racket face and reducing my swing speed.
    thanks for all you do!

      1) I have to set that up. I'm working on a Patreon this winter!
      2) That's a tough one. Basically as the ball touches the wall because that would mimic the contact for the other player.
      3) That is a great suggestion! I will put it on my to film list!

Split-stepping is very important in tennis ( especially at the higher levels). This is something that requires a good deal of practice. I use split-stepping on my return of see serve and it helps a lot. I'm trying to do it more consistently in baseline rallies. However, in the pressure of a match, I sometimes forget to do it.

Yes, a lot of my clients split step on the first and maybe second shot and then forget.

Thanks a lot for your content! Is it ok to initiate the split step when the opponent racket touches the ball ? Or is it too late ?

I noticed pros often split step twice in between shots. Am I right?

Yes, that can absolutely happen to regain balance and then change direction for example.

How can something so fundamental in athletic movement be so foreign to so many sports

  • @rds4629
    @rds4629 Рік тому

uh Coach, it's fundamental/easy for juniors or people who took up sports early. Sadly when I was young, studies was really emphasized and now as an adult, I like to split step but once the point gets started, I get lost in what's going to happen and then a few points or games later, i realize I'm not splitting :( Cognitively I understand the benefits and how to splitstep, but it is like dancing, not in my nature.

Working with HS kids... I would say 95% of them are not trained properly (if at all) about split-steps, so thanks!

      Yes I would say that’s accurate. It’s a detail that’s often forgotten
