I literally split step correctly for 10mins, then after that I'm huffing and puffing against the fence. LOL
Yes, I hear that a lot :)))
You’re an amazing coach Meike.
Thank you
J'adore...concis et précis...quel plaisir de voir enfin une femme coach faire des vidéos de cette qualité Meike...merci beaucoup
Merci beaucoup!
really appreciate the other cues for timing the split-step, especially jump "when your own ball is bouncing."
several questions:
(1) where is your paypal, cashapp, patreon, etc. for those who wish to contribute?
(2) how do we time the split step when hitting against a wall?
(3) could you make a video on how to properly control your groundstrokes' net clearance? i can only hit with height over the net by opening my racket face and reducing my swing speed.
thanks for all you do!
1) I have to set that up. I'm working on a Patreon this winter!
2) That's a tough one. Basically as the ball touches the wall because that would mimic the contact for the other player.
3) That is a great suggestion! I will put it on my to film list!
Love how easy you delivery info... Thank You
Thank you for watching my videos
Wow! I'm always amazed, haha I should be used to it by now, how great your teaching is!! excellent lesson 🙏 appreciate you! Thanks
Thank you! I really appreciate your support of my channel
Split-stepping is very important in tennis ( especially at the higher levels). This is something that requires a good deal of practice. I use split-stepping on my return of see serve and it helps a lot. I'm trying to do it more consistently in baseline rallies. However, in the pressure of a match, I sometimes forget to do it.
Yes, a lot of my clients split step on the first and maybe second shot and then forget.
Wow! You replied to my comment. I'm honored. Thank you for all your instructional videos. They have been a great help in improving my game.
Thanks a lot for your content! Is it ok to initiate the split step when the opponent racket touches the ball ? Or is it too late ?
0:21 Flow split step.
Is that snow on the ground?! That's hardcore! Tennis all the time!
Yes, it is but thankfully it actually gets pretty warm in denver when the sun is out.
Awesome video and drills. I see thats its always knee jerk reaction for tennis players to swear when missing a volley during a drill haha
Oh yeah absolutely
I noticed pros often split step twice in between shots. Am I right?
Yes, that can absolutely happen to regain balance and then change direction for example.
How can something so fundamental in athletic movement be so foreign to so many sports
uh Coach, it's fundamental/easy for juniors or people who took up sports early. Sadly when I was young, studies was really emphasized and now as an adult, I like to split step but once the point gets started, I get lost in what's going to happen and then a few points or games later, i realize I'm not splitting :( Cognitively I understand the benefits and how to splitstep, but it is like dancing, not in my nature.
I totally understand!
@@MeikeBabelTennis I keep working at it though so I like the video... one day...
Expo !
Yup
Working with HS kids... I would say 95% of them are not trained properly (if at all) about split-steps, so thanks!
Yes I would say that’s accurate. It’s a detail that’s often forgotten
