Personally outgrew this kind of thinking you're doing here. In my opinion, Drake has way more good songs than Kendrick. It is what it is. This Future album really satisfied everything than I wanted from him. For a Nut and Keep It Burnin, are my throw away tracks, and I’m On One was a lazy Drake feature in my opinion. He also coulda kept the deluxe. But it wasn’t overloaded with features and he got into all of his bags, like giving us Wait for You and Love You Better back to back then following it up with 3 bangers in a row with Massaging Me, Chickens, and We Just Wanna Get High. Honestly one his his craziest run of tracks ever in my option. I can genuinely say the majority of the album has not left my rotation since it dropped. Also great seeing him show The Wizrd some love, it was one that had to grow on me as well, Never Stop is S tier Pluto. Please do a Future album ranking video Shawn! This is another Shawn Cee banger video. And I hope he does more videos like this where he changed his mind on albums or music artists and I hope that he returns to the “IS PERFECT” series. The album that was biggest upgrade for me was The Life of Pablo where I thought was ok, but upon re listen, it’s now my fourth favorite Kanye West album (below MBDTF, Gradution and 808s & Heartbreak) and also upon relisten (speaking of Kanye) I appreciated The College Dropout and Yeezus more than I first thought.
You gotta live with music before just tryna critique things, that band wagon gets heavy until it stops moving. Sometimes you gotta just walk for yourself.
I'm not gonna lie...my tweet about wanting to punch my computer was very much an accurate depiction of how I felt about the album. I just wasn't expecting runway/H&M shopping music from Drake??? Like it just isn't done well. and I like house music. but goddamn that Drake album was bad.
Those sentements about Futures records are factual. I had the same thing happen to me. When I first listened to his stuff (like everyone else generally) I had some sort of preconceived notion about how his stuff would sound based on knowing he's famous and that tends to give everyone a certain expectation Verse reality situation and I think that's what happened for me with futures stuff. I was obsessed with his stuff when I first discovered him but I didn't like the wizard or any of his newer stuff or even ds2 until a bit later and now It's like almost a religious experience listening to his stuff. I was the same way with Drain gang except there stuff is a lot more acquired and open minded to enjoy but once you unlock that chain their stuff is the most beautiful music you will ever hear in your life.

huge respect to shawn for having the courage to admit he's grown from an initial reaction. most music reviewers are completely unable to do that, they feel like the one opinion they had on a project is the correct one and block themselves from letting grow on them even tho good music often does. a lot of albums need to be lived with and listened to in different context and the reviewing zeitgeist runs completely opposite to that reality. now all there is left to do for shawn is to get a legal buzz and go for a drive at night listening to honestly, nevermind

Am I the only one who likes this Drake album? It serves its purpose, it's a summer album. This album is straight summer night out vibes, whether it's a party/club/cookout etc. I don't think this album was meant to be taken as seriously as some of y'all are taking it. Chill out, drink some liquor, vibe with a group of friends/girls/whoever, stop taking life so seriously
More Life was meant to be that way aswell and that one was really good (my 2nd fav Drake project after Nothing Was The Same). This one is not my style of music, only liked Jimmy Cooks.
The thing about Don toliver is that tell true relatable stories in his music he’s just very good sound but that true story and relatable things matter in music now.

@@romaretaylor9953 noooo it’s not cuz it’s not hip hop. 😭 I KNOW the best artists and people in general listen to very diverse music. And if either of them made music from any of those genres I would listen and expect it to be GOOD! But you’ve GOT to admit there’s a reason that so many people find “Honestly, Nevermind” to just sound unpleasant to the ears. Although I loved that era of Drake I think he just needs to create something totally new but with that same energy and drive he had back then. He doesn't try anymore and thats my issue.
FACTS
@@SPYDERREADYTOCOOKUP I feel you my guy. I just wish there could be a day where I can finally stop lookin like a hater because his recent albums aren’t good. I want to like Drake but the lack of good music bro hurts his chances
@@SPYDERREADYTOCOOKUP trying is hard and why try when your fans will eat it up anyways. It doesn't matter, and Drake knows that. Why make an album on the level of Mr. Morale when you can fart out a Honestly, Nevermind and will still make millions? Like why try?
I have to imagine that Drake checked out long ago, and now he's just doing this to get paid.
Imma Drake fan and I knew from the first track that that shit was gonna be hot ass, also Take Care is Prime Drake
i hate the album, but "Sticky" is one of the greatest songs of recent memory...(especially from Drake) INSTANT CLASSIC.

I'm so glad your perspective on The Wzrd change such a good album
the wizrd is far and away the best future album of the last 5-8 years
I Never Liked You is definitely better but I can respect that
Nooo wayyy these are crazy opinions abt the wzrd. He has so many better projects
Hndrxx clears respectfully
2nd respectfully
The wzrd is crazy hard. U gotta really listen to it. Future spittin hard in the toxic feels
I feel about just as pleased as when High Off Life came out and I loved that album. Also great seeing him show The Wizrd some love, it was one that had to grow on me as well, Never Stop is S tier Pluto. Please do a Future album ranking video Shawn! (DS2 is his best album, I refuse to hear any other argument! 😂)
Crazy how future is damn near 40 talking about the same shit and y’all meat ride
Yet when Drake experiments and tries something new he gets hate💀💀
@@leultrainstinct406 drake experimented but still made straight ass futures shit hits harder than the last time everytime ^
Idk what happening but Honestly Nevermind is heat to me. It’s not a rap album so maybe I’m not comparing it to other drake tracks, but I like it.
So far every time I’ve been out and it plays at a party or club, the whole crowd loves it. Drake is still around bc he can switch it up. This is just one part of everything this man has done. I think it’s dope, ppl just need to let go of what they think it should be.
Tie that Binds and Liability are really experimental and solid Drake tracks. Incredible lyrics, the album has really grown on me since the first listen. This album is perfect for summer time
tie that binds is a great track
Finally someone that appreciates Liability
liability.. experimental? lmaooo no. He literally took the entire style from xxxtentacion... it sounds like one of those slowed and reverb songs
Liability is ass
@@Mxxx1x xxxtentacion wasnt the first to do chopped and screwed. thats what slowed and reverbed is. just say you dont know anything about houston’s impact on hip hop and how drake used inspiration from it
Yeah… whole lotta red is just such an iconic album. It was hated at first and now everyone has caught up to what Carti took a gamble on… I also was skeptical about the strained voice, but now I just think it’s so necessary and natural just like how cartis baby voice came to be z
WLR is Top 5 album all time
Easily top 1
People are really loving this album in Africa. Probably dur to the fact we used to the sound
My initial thought, I think because we love house music some people are taking it well. Can't say the same for the States.
Honestly Nevermind is a vibe
I like the house album but then again I come from a country where House music is BIG.
5:36 thanks, I have felt this way about don toliver's new album since its dropped. I think at first I really wanted to like it bc I saw a lot of potential in him after listening to his heaven or hell album, which was full of hits, but only after a new weeks of the project being out I just didn't like it anymore. Like I am not lying when I say I haven't listened to this album since November 2021.
Im glad you game around to the WZRD. F & N was my most played song of that year
The Wizard by future is super hard tbh
Man someday people will come back around on life of a Don… one of the best albums of last year to me, no album has ever so perfectly captured that late night vibe
Life of Pablo sounding better everyday.
Shawn is a clone. I can’t take someone who said future got AOTY seriously. He want to pander to those trap fans so bad. A clone .

“I listened to it when I wasn’t doing what the record was saying” pretty much sums it up.
Shawn didn't change, he millions.
Shawn you might be right, I listened to this album then listened to NWTS and it felt like I was listening to one of the greatest albums of all time.
,,Come with a classic they come around years later and say it‘s a sleeper“🤷🏾♂️
You gotta live with music before just tryna critique things, that band wagon gets heavy until it stops moving. Sometimes you gotta just walk for yourself.
don toliver is like candy, too much of him and the flavor gets lost
Judging by the thumbnail/title I was like “wait..Honestly Nevermind 👀”
I actually enjoy honestly, nevermind because I fall asleep to it almost every night

Honestly nevermind is definitely one of the albums of all time.
one of the best generic albums of all time

I came around to his new album and CLB too. It’s a vibe and great background music. Passionfruit was always a fire record to me though.
“It’s pretty good if you play it in the background and don’t actually listen to it” Cmon man…
@@jayy2423 I didn’t mean this is a shady way. Background music doesn’t mean you’re not listening to it. Study music, cleaning music, just chilling and relaxing etc etc.

Bro FACTS. Like he made me realize how good songs were like passionfruit, feel no ways type shit.
Timmy thick makes an appearance oh my
Damn. I’m still listening to it every day.
Try not to hold a first listen opinion over your own head bro. Music is a typa art that gets better the more you live with it.
Facts bro I thought this album was actually his best from the last 2, the vibe of this album was not meant to be taken seriously like those two and I enjoy it for that
I’m SO glad you changed your mind on The Wizrd. Never Stop is a TOP 5 Future song.
huge respect to shawn for having the courage to admit he's grown from an initial reaction. most music reviewers are completely unable to do that, they feel like the one opinion they had on a project is the correct one and block themselves from letting grow on them even tho good music often does. a lot of albums need to be lived with and listened to in different context and the reviewing zeitgeist runs completely opposite to that reality.
now all there is left to do for shawn is to get a legal buzz and go for a drive at night listening to honestly, nevermind

Nah man how bad an album gotta be for one to appreciate CLB😭, and it's great to hear your changed thoughts towards without warning, it was such an amazing album , still listen to songs from it
Bro CLB is a decent album. If you think Knife talk is the only good song on there you just don’t like dude

Future went off on the WZRD, he put his heart and soul into it with proper introspection. I never liked you seemed like he was just fulfilling a release obligation. It was cool, but nothing to rant or rave about, and very forgettable.

Love to see you appreciating The WIZRD, it's one of my favorite Future albums and imo his most underrated.
This one is not my style of music, only liked Jimmy Cooks.
people can enjoy it if they forget its a drake album
Haven’t read it all, yes you are
The thing about Don toliver is that tell true relatable stories in his music he’s just very good sound but that true story and relatable things matter in music now.
*This album is laced with bangers that are played at functions* like parties and when you need to calm down the rampaging Special Needs student who’s having a tantrum.. but it just makes him more angry.
I’ve listened to Honestly Nevermind & My appreciation for SCORPION is on another level 🙃
Scorpion was shit , this clears clb and scorpion , but I'm not gna fight your opinion🤝
nah Scorpion is still probably the worst. There's at least a few songs off Honestly Nevermind and CLB that I can listen to, but Scorpion is just dead; zero good songs.
Bro I’m screaminggggg I was also FULLY CONVINCED “Honestly, Nevermind” was gonna be exposed as a social experiment! Like maybe “How much money and attention can I get just for being Drake?” What sold it for me is when J Cole posted that the album was “phenomenal” ??? Like Jermaine… I know you better than that. You in on the joke too huh?
u hatin hard ash😂
Facts
Yeah imagine j Cole enjoying music that’s not hip hop or the idea that his European mother didn’t play dance music around the crib as a kid 🫢
@@romaretaylor9953 noooo it’s not cuz it’s not hip hop. 😭 I KNOW the best artists and people in general listen to very diverse music. I personally listen to and love music from many different genres, hip hip, r&b, soul, pop, rock, alternative, country, blues, singer/songwriter, symphonic, etc. And I expect that both J Cole and Drake listen to all that and more. And if either of them made music from any of those genres I would listen and expect it to be GOOD! But you’ve GOT to admit there’s a reason that so many people find “Honestly, Nevermind” to just sound unpleasant to the ears. Apparently many people do genuinely love it so I gotta take back what I said but I truly thought those people would be VERY few and far between.
@@romaretaylor9953 side note, Shawn Cee listens to aaaallll kinds like of music, including stuff I’m not personally too crazy about, and he still just didn’t like this. (Reference his video about his favorite albums of the year)
I think one of the reasons that Shawn may not be returning to Don Toliver’s project is because there are just far too many releases these days. Different music speaks to different moods and while you might be in the mood to hear a song, you may not be in the mood to hear the whole album. But that doesn’t make it less good. I might revisit Kendrick’s TPAB just to listen to ‘You Ain’t Gotta Lie’, ‘For Sale?’ and move on lol
