Awesome review!!! Thanks for doing a proper comparison between all 3 models, the 3” sounds like a portable speaker next to the 4” and 5” Thanks again!!
I physically listened to both the 4 and 5 before settling for the larger 5 for my studio (my budget doesn’t allow for top range speakers). The sound from the 5 (once they’re properly run in) is definitely a lot richer and not as boomy as this video suggests. I think the fact that the 5 was the only one to have forward facing bass ports might have affected what you hear through the microphones on this video where as in actual use the bass is nicely balanced. The extra wattage is useful too especially if you like to annoy the neighbours. Remember, everyone’s ears and tastes are different but for me the Alesis 5’s give a fantastic, clean, rich sound performance for the relatively little they cost. I would definitely recommend these over the other two and most others in this price range just make sure you sit these on a nice pair of isolating pads. (N.B. I have never heard the 3’s in person but from this video they certainly sound the worst with the miserly 10 watts proving insufficient for studio work)
Very good points raised here thanks. I was considering the 5s until I watched this video but in every sound test they did indeed sound very boomy and muddy. I nearly changed my mind on the strength of this presentation, but you have reassured me that this is actually just a poor demonstration of the 5's. I'd imagine mounted properly they will sound much cleaner. They must be producing a lot of reflections off of that wooden desk stretched out in front of them too, which must be adding somewhat to the muddy sound with the front ports.
In 2024: get $50 Edifier MR4 instead and save money. Those sound like iLoud Micro (with a more neutral bass!) and even can hold up pretty decent against Genelec 6010 / 8010 - on the DSPREVIEW channel you can hear what I mean.
All crap, as it was expected - always buy from a specialist. Means: neither Mackie, nor Presonus etc. are monitors companies. They have no expertise in it. The only halfway ok from what you mentioned, are Presonus 4.5. I would advise against buying any of them, this coming from an old Alesis (Monitor One series) user. But we aren't in 1994 anymore. I know that that sound test is just like licking icecream via the glass but still, great demo, I know now that 3" is like dog barking compare to 4", there is no sense to purchase 3". On 5" vocal sounds even better. So yeah, 5" or if you are really on budget and try to safe any 10$, then at least 4". Thank you !
@@stevied653 Ah glad to read this, quite a lot of mixed comments and not a lot of videos of the 4s, but what I can hear they are 100% the cleanest, am going to buy myself some next week
I've used both the 3s and the 5s. The biggest thing I noticed in my own use as well as in your demo is how much darker the 5s are then both the 3s and 4s. The 3s and 4s both have a decent brightness, but that disappears as soon as you switch to the 5s.
One of the best review and comparsion videos, thank you very much! I just bought my pair of Alesis Elevate 5 MKII speakers and can´t wait for delivery! I´m hot as hell to test my own one´s in my studio tomorrow! Great little speakers for low price... maybe the BEST in this price range! ;-)
i think you can just turn off the bass mode on the 5th and u'll see a much better result plus the sound quality io the video is not that good so we can't really judge , i just ordered the 5th and i hope it will reach my expectations . peace
Yeah, I agree regarding the 3, it has high frequency bump somewhere at 4 khz, making everything sound “ts ts, ts ts”, even vocals. One may only degrade their hearing if he works with them…
Excelent video, very usefull and reallly can hear the diferences between the speakers, very well done :). Thank you!
The 5 bass is too boomy. I think the 4 is the more balanced thus the best option. Nice review!
offcourse bro, becouse the 5 sub bigger than 4 and 5 air ventilation at the front of speakers
This is probably the best comparison video I've seen for a while

Always quality reviews! Best channel for speaker reviews!

Compared to other similar from M-Audio, PreSonus or Mackie etc, how do they stack up?

A Good thing you can carry them with you no need an amplifier I ve 4 jbl, 2 focal speakers ( entry level )
Can I use a source with 3.5mm jack as input to these?
One reason the 5 sounds boomier is for the fact the bass port is at the front and also a bigger woofer...
4 definitely sound the cleanest
@I am blue print of Rakht I had bought some after this review, I’m extremely happy with them, a nice clean sound

best demo of the 3 elevate models!
i did not hear you say that the Elevate 5 has the subwoofer output jack like the other smaller Elevate speakers?
Can really tell the highs from the smaller diameter speaker... Why not get both?

How are they as compared to this video?
I like the 4 best
Can I use the elevate4 for recording guitars(metal music)for regular basis
Very nice, thanks
I don't mind if they are boomy I do metal blast beats haha
4 is the most balanced speaker. The 3 is very thin and 5 is very dull. For studio use you need balance.

5 is really good
Is it just me or do the 3 and 5 both have overdone top end, and the 4 has not quite enough? Even tho it appears the 4 and 5 have the same tweeter

стоит ли покупать alesis 4 за 120 долларов ?
Alesis 5 bass is nice
the 5 is not 5". it's obvious visually, but a youtuber measured it at 4.3"
