This is a great video. You've motivated me to go and purchase the Mega V Router bundle. I am a beginner with CNC machines, so could you tell me what homing switches, 3 or 4 axis, and bed types are? What options would you suggest when ordering?
Thank you! Let them know I sent ya lol. Homing switches are like limit switches. They stop the machine from going too far in a direction so things don’t bind up. 3axis is your standard machine with x,y, and z directions. 4th axis rotates so you can carve things out on a round object. For instance, if you wanted to carve out a name on a baseball bat. Bed types and the working surface area. Mdf is usually standard but they have the aluminum bed as an upgrade. The Tplate bed is rows of t-tracks which make it easier to clamp things to the table. I own a mega v now and it’s a great machine. The homing switches are a must. The 4th axis is just something you’ll want to read up on and consider for yourself. I personally don’t have one and don’t have enough need for it with the things I make. Bed type is also up to you. Most people end up using a sacrificial bed on top of the existing bed. Reason being is when you make cuts that go all the way through your material, you’ll end up cutting a little into the bed. So even if you get the aluminum bed, you’ll probably throw an mdf bed on top of that. Personally I have the mdf with an mdf sacrificial bed on top of that. Hope this helps! Good luck and happy making :)
I was about to give up this idea of a CNC machine thinking I was not as smart as I should be to operate one of these but I just came across your video and I'm primed up now to work on getting one. Thank You.

My local library has a "maker room" with a variety of machines connected to computers. I guess that makes them CNC? Anyway, thanks to you and this video I'm going to try my hand a some crafty things.

Your WVU cap was what got my attention brother. Lol. I live in San Angelo Texas but I was born in a coal pile down near McDowell County, West By-God Virginia. Go Eers. Oh yeah cnc. Does easel work with the maslow cnc 4x8 machine. Ur instructions made it seem so easy. I just bought a maslow and still putting it on the frame and watching videos and it don't seen as easy as I'd was thinking it would be. Lol
Hell yea! Honestly I have zero experience with the Maslow so I cannot say if easel would work or not. You may try finding Maslow groups on Facebook and see what other owners use.
Great video on a great little machine. I, too, own a M3 and I love it. You've probably already thought of this but in case you haven't, I'd consider just exporting the G code out of Easel and then running something like UGS Platform to feed the G code to your M3. That way if the internet goes down mid carve, you don't care! Plus UGS Platform has many features that Easel doesn't like letting you adjust feed speeds on-the-fly and ability to use a Z probe if you want.
This was awesome, thank you! I'm trying to figure out what kind of machine to get because for certain projects the cricut is driving me up a wall and your video was the best I've seen yet!

You’ll want to go to millright’s website for all the specs on this machine. I think the working area is 10.25” x10.25”. But with the front and back opened up, you can do larger carves by “tiling” it. Which is just doing it in workable sections at a time.

That easel program looks great. I use fusion 360 for my designs and or download files. Noticed you mentioned gcode. That's what my 3d printer uses also! Thanks for the great info. Love your work!
How did you do the urns with the paw print. Because the urns seem big but looking at your machine it seems like there's only 2 inches of space between the drill bit and the work bench??
Couple questions... what is your max bed space? You mentioned you need internet for the program. Do you need constant internet to work with, or is it just something that needs updating once in awhile on your computer? Is this still working great for you? Tha ks for the video, great tutorial.
As far as the bed space goes, I can’t remember off the top of my head. I’m thinking if the work piece was 12” wide it would fit. Length doesn’t matter so much since it’s open in the front and back. Easel requires constant internet connection to work unfortunately. But you could design and set tool paths with easel and transfer the gcodes to universal g code sender. From there you wouldn’t need internet anymore. I still use easel all the time for my cnc work. I have subbed to the easel pro though which has more features than the free version. Thanks!
I've jus started 3D cut outs with a scroll saw but I'm interested in this machine. I enjoyed this tutorial and it has convinced me to get one. Where can I purchase this machine from?
Dumb question please forgive me, can it cut through 2” pieces of wood? I want to make wood letters for wood signs. Would this be a good machine for that? Love your videos!
A question from a newby in cnc. I watch some videos that show multiple bits being used in cnc, for example raised lettering when a bigger bit is used for heavy removal and a smaller v bit might be used to do the finer finish detail. But how the software know to only cut to a certain point with the larger bit and then do the finer detail work with the smaller bit? Or do I have to figure that out and configure the software somehow?
Some softwares are set up for bit changes. Usually hog out the bulk material first then clean it up with a smaller bit like you are saying. I’m not sure if easel will do that or not. I personally have never used this method
Was your X-axis railing an extruded aluminum? and that instead of lead screw, you used belt to drive it. Am i correct. I am not familiar with the M3. thank you.

Hi Obi. Thank for your video. It was most helpful. I am wondering if you got any of the options shown on the web site? I noticed they have an option to make the frame more rigid. Do you think this is necessary? I also read that you have upgraded to a different model. Did you find the M3 to limiting? Thank you for your time. Best Regards.
Thanks! I had the rigid option on the M3 as well as the limit/homing switches. IMO they are not totally necessary but better safe than sorry I guess. The M3 is a great starter machine or if you’re only doing things that are within the working area size. I wanted to expand on the size of projects I could make with the cnc so I only upgraded for the sake of size capacity.
Thanks for a great video friend!! Forgive me if this is a stupid question but does the unit you showed on the video come with it’s own software or do you purchase the software separately? I know very little about cnc routers but have always been told the main things to look for when purchasing is strong motors to pull your router and good software. The software being more expensive than the machine itself. I was told to get really good software you can expect to spend $2000.oo or more. Is any of my information correct?? Thank You!!... :))...............
The machine doesn’t come with software, but the program I show in the video is free to use. Links to everything are in the video description. There are however other programs you can use. Some free and others you have to pay for. You will just need to do a little research and see what program will meet your needs best.
The m3 is capable of 3d carving. Easel is not a program to create 3d files. Some people create their 3d filewith another program and use easel to send the gcodes to the cnc.

What dimensions of wood can you fit in the work area? I make cutting boards and they vary from about 10” wide up to. 12” wide and 14” to 20” long. Would they fit?
The cutting area is 10.25x10.25 if I remember right. So you have a few more inches of actual width there. As far as length goes, weight and space is your only limitation. The spoil board is the moving part for your back and forth motion so as long as it’s not too heavy for that to move, and you’re not going to hit the wall behind your machine, you should be good!
When I say cutting area, you can cut a square 10.25” and the actual platform is a few inches bigger than that. I will get an actual measurement later today for ya
Neat explanation...but I want know is it necessary ....? we need to make coding for evry individual drawing I'm like want to cut a human portrait but I don't know how to build a accurate coding..! Is coading necessary or we can go with any other alternative..pls let me know
I had to buy a spindle for my machine. But I can't stand noises annoying me. Some cockamamy machine off in the corner going at it for an indeterminate length of time has a way of setting me off. May not bother you though? It's something that you're going to have to experience for yourself to understand it. I'm not saying a spindle is absolutely quiet but they sure can make a difference.
Hey! So I’ve never owned a cnc machine but I am needing one. I make a ton of square earrings about a cm in total. Could it cut that small? Also, if I bought the kit do I just plug it into the computer and go?

Dumb question please forgive me, can it cut through 2” pieces of wood? I want to make wood letters for wood signs. Would this be a good machine for that? Love your videos!
Thank you! It’s working area is about 10.25”x10.25”x2”. It would be tight, but as long as your bit will cut that deep I think you’d be good.
Their next model up, “the carve king,” has 4” on the z and might be better for your thicker material

@@zackoblinger7596 Thank you friend!!
Great video, easy to understand!
Thanks!
Are you able to cut copper sheets on this? 16mil?
Does the Cnc come with a router or did you have one already
Will Easel do 3d carvings on this M3 machine? Or do I look at other models from Millright? Thank you.
The m3 is capable of 3d carving. Easel is not a program to create 3d files. Some people create their 3d filewith another program and use easel to send the gcodes to the cnc.

What kit is yours and where to find it? Do they supply everything but the wood? Thanks, nice video
Hey I have links in the videos description that should lead you in the right direction. Thanks for watching!
great vid, can this machine cut paper size projects, 8 inch by 11.5 inch ?
Thanks! The work area of this is 10.25x10.25
@@zackoblinger7596 great ty, its a shame the company is not taking any orders an i can not get one, i really want one.
Thank you! I think it would work
Glad to hear. It’s a great little machine. I have definitely got my money’s worth out of it.
just perfect for me. not so intimidated now.
Thanks, great video!
Thanks!

Neat explanation...but I want know is it necessary ....? we need to make coding for evry individual drawing
I'm like want to cut a human portrait but I don't know how to build a accurate coding..!
Is coading necessary or we can go with any other alternative..pls let me know
Sounds like you’re looking for 3d carving info which is beyond anything I’ve done. Sorry I can’t help you there
WV brother... is this cnc able to cut aluminum? Looking for one that cuts both wood and ar least aluminum type of material
Yes, it can mill aluminum but I have never tried it
Does the wood have to be one solid piece?
Did you have to buy a special router to go with your cnc machine, or did it come with a router?
I put a Bosch colt on mine. It did require a router mount which I bought from openbuilds.com
Can you cut ketters and shapes o UT, or can you just engrave?
Yep you can cut letters and shapes out as well!
what software are you using I like it
Hey! So I’ve never owned a cnc machine but I am needing one. I make a ton of square earrings about a cm in total. Could it cut that small? Also, if I bought the kit do I just plug it into the computer and go?
You might look into a laser engraver for things that small but this may work.
The kit comes unassembled so you’d have to put everything together.
