They talk about prejudices, important to be yourself and avoid drugs, keep your reputation clean. They say that they are too poor to buy drugs, clothes are from second hand and they only have pack of Lay's on the table ( "green bag" ). They couldn't differentiate between vitamin and amphetamine. They only know about lemonade and cider. The instrument is Talharpa, it has history with Sweden as well.

@@Janaofficialmusic this translation is totally wrong. The facts are right, but everything is presented with a very thick layer of irony. Like: "We definitely don't do drugs, cops could come anytime and check, we would be clean and anyway wouldn't even have money for it".

@@juliuskull Which translation is wrong? I believe if people get the general point then it's good. Tricky to translate the songs because of rhymes and examples. You need to find good wording for what they say. But i think it will pretty direct translation for Eurovision anyway. Well let me try... Some wordings little bit different but general meaning should stay.
      1)
We're not drug addicts, haven't touched a thing,
Dresses we wear, once discarded, now bring.
Cops on patrol, raiding our scene,
Green Lay's bag, the only thing seen.
We're not drug addicts, haven't touched a thing,
Dresses we wear, once discarded, now bring.
Cops on patrol, raiding our scene
Uniformed men visiting, I'm feeling serene.
      2)
      [refrain]
      (Uuu, yeah)
Listen to this, it's gonna ignite,
You'll hear us tonight, but take away that plight.
I don't mess with drugs, just soda and cider,
Can't tell the difference, vitamin or amphetamine's slider.
Listen to this, it's gonna ignite,
You'll hear us tonight, but take away that plight.
Magic mushrooms and champignons - where are your threads?
You're running my body like kitchen stove spreads.
      3)
Little ducklings, but poppies so tall,
Avoiding drugs, let the wealthy take the fall.
Here at dawn, as colorful as poppies so high,
Took away my candies, those girls with a sigh.
We avoid drugs simply cause we're not rich,
In the backroom, just IPAs to pitch.
Glasses on for pupils, just for the sake of fun,
Seeing through it all, those in the front, everyone.
      4)
Hush now, I've done no harm, no foul,
Yet this dance surrounds me, a continuous prowl, yeah.
      Silence now, I've not observed,
Yet this dance envelops, never subserved, yeah.
      5)
      [refrain]

I am really happy. Ramo is a friend of mine, been Puuluup fan since 2016, there was a concert in Viljandi Lennukitehas which is like a weird rusty hangar in Viljandi. It was like being in a surrealist play. first it was like a freak fandom then their popularity kept growing they won all the awards, also best band in Estonian Music Awards, and had so many foreign concerts. and 5 miinust guys, never mind what they sing about, are really decent blokes. This song is such a vibe, like we have been a snoozefest so many times and fan favorites have missed out like 11 times (Meisterjaan 2x) Winny Puhh Redel etc finally we are happy

The legendary dance is from there.
It is a part of the heritage culture of Vorms. The dance of the wood lube looks like the dance of a hunter or warrior before going on a hunt or war.
Vormsi is a 93 km² island in the Baltic Sea, in the territory of Lääne County. It is the fourth largest island in Estonia. According to legend, the island was named after the Icelandic Viking Orm, another version is the pirate Orm described in the legend of St. Olaf, and the third is the 13th century bishop Orm.

Interesting, I have always thought that the island was named after the Swedish word for snake - "orm" ("orm"+"ö" - snake island). Which would make a lot of sense since there actually are so many snakes there.

It’s not an usual song for Puuluup to use these instruments, but live they are actually magnificent. They use loopers and build up all the sounds in their songs. They are masters of using such an archaic instrument in very unique ways. Also they are master trollers of public in live concerts =D

The most important thing is to understand that 5 Miinust (Five Minuses) has been very popular hip-hop band in Estonia last I don’t no how many years. They always cross boundaries because their songs very often talk about heavy partying. Lyrics is very important part of the songs and usually its impossible to translate the real meanings of words without knowing cultural backround and slang of estonian youngsters.

    • @Janaofficialmusic
      @Janaofficialmusic  9 місяців тому +2

@@Janaofficialmusic Yes, Latvian and Estonian share quite some similarities in the pronunciations - both are phonetic languages and maybe even more importantly (due to the influence of Livonian (a Finnic language closely related to Estonian)) Latvian, like Estonian and other Finnic languages, always has stress on a word's first syllable.

Its a song and how you interpretant it, but I think for the older guys, it is we do not really know anything about drugs and for the younger guys, its we do not know anything about these drugs (you found). That is why you methaphorically see a fight between younger and older generation on the stage. Like it is currently in society in a lot of times. Police chroncile thing is a meme from early 2000ishs, where the not so glamorous life of Estonia was showed in tv, this is something we cant really explain to eurovision folks but Estonians know what they are talking about, but mainly its just here probably, is it fits to the rhythm and lyrics. Anyway, very brave and touchy subject and it is very easy in a way to villainize them about singing of that topic. Though all my assumptions, this is just my opinion.

@@Janaofficialmusic as I look at it, nobody really knows, and it is a debate, like on stage. It does not really offer any solutions either, it is like a display of the current situation on the younger generation and older generation. "kuula mind ära" - "hear me out ("before judging please")". As for people, they like that's in Estonian, they do like the sound of it, they like the dance, they like the rhythm, etc but most people are not going to analyze it like this. But who do, they ask the same question too, thus its very ballsy theme to sing about. Hiding your head under the sand on that issue is not better either, like you mentioned, its recent years theme of younger generation doing way more drugs than we did, older generation drug is alcohol. As I look at it, its a start of debate without a solution and why do you need any of this at all?
