@@markb8468 That's incredibly surprising! Wow :o For your peace of mind, each rememberance day in Weymouth,Dorset and all over we have a separate service alongside ours to commererate American serviceman who past away during WW2 as many departed from the shores of Dorset to liberate France and Europe
Outstanding vision of World War I in the trenches. Short stories many of them and they’re all outstanding truly this is a work of art. Great author and a great narrator. I love the series
Ronnie G. I had a book about 60 years ago, written by Sapper, it was WW2 North Africa, fighting Italians. Several stories, 2 I recall were 'Blood on the Tracks, about British tanks attacking Italian infantry, the other story was about a Vickers HMG setting up for indirect fire to knock out an out of sight enemy lookout post.
Another good one is "A German Deserter's War Experience". I listened to that one 3 times. It's a great 1st hand account of WW1, but a little different than any other.
@@nickmckeehan6428 You're welcome. I can't get enough of these 1st hand accounts of the war. They are absolutely fascinating, and I'm always looking for more. Two other great (free) WW1 audios are "4 weeks in the trenches" (a short one, but a good one), and "In the Line of Battle".
My Grandfather, Pte Herbert George Walker (born 1898-1977) was a sapper! He earned a British War Medal and a Victory Medal. My Dad served 13 years in The RCN and myself I served 10 years as a SigO. It's a family thing, I suspect. Rest in Peace Grandpa. Rest in Peace Dad. You've both earned it.😁 Velox Versutus Vigilans
Ah I remember him! Didn't he also have a one-legged wife name Ilene? Can't remember but I think she was maybe Chinese, was it Ilene or Irene? Been a long time.
@Heywood Jablowme he did get his leg shot off. It wasn't in the trenches. It was taking a town, and it all got a bit hand to hand combat. Him and a German got pretty messed up. So they just sat and had a cig. Like it was half time, except arms and legs missing. True.
One of the best ww1 or any other war-books I've ever read. Maybe the best narrative I've heard of any book. And I devour audio books! Very well done!
May all never face such circumstances again, If only we all remember more than once a year. Lest we forget.
You're fortunate to have a remembrance annually. In the states I don't think anyone EVER remembers the great war.

There’s been hundreds of wars since WW1 humans simply won’t learn
Lest We Forget 🙏🇬🇧

Ahh, a very good narrator.
Let's take a moment to recognise the beauty of a well spoken British accent ❤

The game over the water so realistic
War is hell
What is it good for?
…Absolutely nothing…
Say it again, ooh ah, absolutely nothing!
War is a racket
Good times 😃
What a strange dialect. Wonder where its from?
Are we going to gloss over the guy that tweaked out and saw situation from the past that actually happened
Sounds like a priest taking confession
Nice voice, however the narrative is bland and without feeling.
read tseliot wasteland....
My grandad got his leg shot off in the trenches. Serves him right for doing hand stands.
