Great timing on sharing these tags. My job for later today. I carry on the Christmas pudding tradition for my family and my brothers. Nobody wants the Christmas cake, so I have let the tradition of wrapping a decorative skirt around it. The marzipan and icing were always decorated withe tiny figurines, which I can't ever part with. I miss baking with my Mum. Unfortunately no daughter to share it with. Daughters in law not bakers. I love hearing of your traditions. Keep the art and stories going, please.
Hi Cookie mum! Thanks for your lovely message. I’m sorry you don’t have anyone to share the tradition with. my daughter loves Christmas cake and Christmas pudding and mince pies… I have to do everything gluten-free for both of us is a special time when we treat ourselves. Isn’t it a shame that people have let all the traditions die.
@DianeAntoneStudio Oh Diane, It is a shame that traditions are being lost. Mincemeat tarts are another favourite from my past. Hats off to you making gluten-free.
@@CookieMumwhen I was growing up my grandma would make mincemeat pies and sadly she never taught me to make them. Only my grandpa and myself liked them but it was such a beautiful smell and experienced have those. All of the other traditions in our family though I have carried on and taught my own daughters and my son. My grandson will be 10 years old the day after Christmas and the other two grandsons are only two and three so we'll see about them but they nearly 10-year-old loves cooking and baking and making art with Grandmom LOL. I'm so sorry that you haven't done anyone to share your traditions with I believe that they are just so important.
What's not to love! They are charming and unique. As you say much better than the tiring ordeal of searching shops. No fun these days. Look forward to doing some tomorrow. Thank you Diane 😊
I love your personality and relaxed approach to painting in watercolors. We could be great friends if you weren’t so far away. Have a great holiday season! Thank you for all of your hard work you share with us.
Blocks are great and I've received the green thingie do and never knew what it was for...just figured it was for scratching in veins on leaves, but now I know what it's really for! Thanks Diane! Hope your Holidays are Happy ones!🎄🎀😊 Love the cute tags!
Cute. I don't have that much ambition. I don't shop either; send the young ones or online. Not my thing. Glad you showed where the hole is on the block!! You give very helpful info .
When I ordered my first pad of paper from them they sent me one of those leaf things. I had no idea never having seen paper on a pad like that how to separate it off but that little green leaf was a great thing and worked like a charm.
I just got my Meeden paper & love that little green gizmo. I use to use a wooden gizmo for sewing but I thought this was such a great idea. Now I’m all set I’ve got all the same supplies as you. I love the simplicity of your tutorial, no fuss & the end result is beautiful. Thank you Diane.
Wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing and I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and are happy with the supplies ❤️ happy holidays to you and your family ❤️
I love your gift tags , going to try them , not worked with a watercolor block but definitely going to get one and give it a try it's always a joy to watch you paint ❤
We moved to Seattle from London, Ontario, in August, and now I cannot find my usual Christmas treats here such as Stolen bread and chocolate pretzels. I am sure there are here somewhere... I love mince pies!!! And Christmas pudding and Trifle! Yumm!!
There’s a place called Kaffeeklatsch Seattle which is supposed to do all types of German bakery. You could try them? 12513 Lake City Way NE #H Seattle, WA 98125 206.462.1059 Tuesday - Sunday 8 am - 4 pm
Thank you Diane for giving the beginner tips and information. I most definitely need that. That card you painted at about the 12 min mark you could have put some cling wrap over it and let it dry and pull it off.. I've seen some fantastic effects from that.. then you could draw on it..
I just ordered several Meeden watercolor products so that I can create a gift basket for a local charity auction. I think it will be super attractive to kids and teens and baskets like that always do well. In a separate donation, I am also giving a certificate for a watercolor class for adults taught by me. That's a little scary but I am willing to give it a go!
For your Member's group, have you ever thought about doing an art exchange? It could be postcards, note cards or mini paintings. Members could submit their address and agree to randomly send and receive cards to others in the group. It could be fun. Just a thought. As if you do not have enough to do.
I think that’s a great idea Deb. I’ll look into it. I have participated in something like that but never organised one - would need some tips on how to do it!
I am so sorry that I didn't know about you before now. You came across in my Google feed thankfully. I just got in my second ever full watercolor palette and I am so excited to do some tests painting with it and you just decided what I could do and not be worried about the result. I am a photorealistic animal portraiture artist but my medium is colored pencil and solvent to turn them into paintings. Watercolor is rather new to me and I think it would just make for a beautiful backgrounds for my pencil work. I like you and old enough to remember joyful shopping experiences rather than what it is now. I'm a grandmother who very much cannot stand to go shopping on top of the fact that I'm disabled so it makes it much worse dealing with people.
I’m so glad you did find us eventually - better late than never I suppose ! I am sure you’ll find watercolor easy after having mastered the art of photorealistic pencil painting, it’s so much easier! The shopping thing isn’t just because we’re getting older I don’t think. The shops here are just not worth visiting and many have closed down completely. I can just about tolerate a Lidl supermarket for half an hour before feeling claustrophobic! And I’m the only one wearing a mask, goodness knows why so many people are willing to get sick - the virus is everywhere here in France - short memories… Anyway, happy painting and let’s not worry about shopping!
I love these tags. Thank you so much for all you do for us who love to paint with you. I was curious so i looked up poinsettia plants. The red parts are actually leaves that have morphed into red to attract pollinators. There are a few layers of these red leaves and i counted maybe 10 or so red leaves in about three layers. Kind of like a double or triple chrysanthemum. Too tedious.. Gosh. I like the simplified watercolor versions. Lol
Thanks Cynthia! I’m so pleased with the way those tags turned out and I’m really enjoying putting them on Tamsin’s gifts - they add such a nice touch of vintage, and she’s a real old-fashioned gal! Simplifying is the great advantage of the type of watercolor that’s popular now, as we are in need of less detail and less photographic realism aren’t we! Sending you love this holiday season!
My 151 th. 😂 in your pre painting part of this video I think you had too much sugar consumed😅. What an explosion of energie. I agree that all made by oneself is more appreciated by the receiver. Thanks for the ideas. 😊wim
Bises mon amie bonnes fetes
I personally love painting on blocks, makes the process so much easier! I didn't know baohong was basically the same as meeden? that's really interesting, are there any other brands you know of like that?? ❤❤
Hi Diane thanks for the video. I bought a little bottle of Schmincke gold powder but it’s not good. Maybe I’m doing something wrong but it just won’t mix with the water😅. Dee
That’s interesting. I had heard that it was very good. I haven’t tried it myself yet. Maybe there is a knack to how to mix it. Maybe try contacting Schmincke and ask if there is a better way to mix it?
I just bought Meeden's gouache tubes. I have only tried a couple of dabs. I seem to be falling behind at life. I would be interested to see what skilled hands can do with them.
I’d suggest you swatch them all out on to a big sheet of paper, to see what they look like and then follow one of my semi-abstract paintings with doodles and things. You can do it xxx
Love this idea Diane. Such cute, original and personal gift tags that no one else will have! Thank you!
You are so welcome! They were fun!
😍 I love them! So fresh and simple.
I enjoy seeing products you discover. The 33 well palette looks very useful. I am praying for a better 2024 for us all!
I hope so too! And glad you like the look of the palette. It’s good to have a folding one big enough to take plenty of colours.
Oh Diane, I love your sense of humor! “Where are you paper knife? I have disappeared. I have vanished.” You made me laugh out loud!
Do you use the gold in your Kuretaki 48 set? The Kuretaki Starry colors are my favorites especially the yellow gold ✨🤩

Милая Диана! Просто Арт- терапия, а не канал! Радость сплошная! Спасибо❤
That’s so kind, I’m so glad that it helps. Happy holidays!❤️
These tags are precious and I totally agree with your comment about not wanting to be a machine OR controlled but them! ABSOLUTELY NOT! 👍🏼
Right?!
I love making hand painted gift tags, and your demonstration is lovely! Thank you Diane.
Wonderful! They look so nice on the parcels! And plenty of room on the back for a message!
Hot chocolate sounds great! Fun idea for a gift tag along with a special mug. ❤

Diane has autumn leaves tutorial where she uses the cling wrap. I love how she shares all the different embellishment techniques!
Ooooo I'll have to find that and check it out!
You really do have a great sense of humor 😂 “disobedient paper” 😅❤”Bob’s your uncle, my uncle Robert” 😂❤
I try!!!
