    Next time you paint get a package of the screw on filters that screw right on the gun. They catch anything that might be in the hose. Love the booth by the way

      Yeah, you can get those at harbor freight all day long; used plenty of them during my time in collision repair school.

    • @1982MCI
      @1982MCI 6 років тому

      Joeys Cleaning Lady a shame you let others run all over you like that and do things the way they want you to do em. I don’t have to worry about any of that crap over here, been painting like that for close to 40 years and I will do it the way I want to , not hoe govt officials say I have to do it just so they can get their hand in my wallet but have everybody in California believing that they are looking out for our safety or that they are doing a tremendous job protecting the environment and it’s all bullshit, it’s legalized theft is all and you can keep em all wrapped up in between your borders

    Tip 4 u, when you lay down metallic flake paint on broad flat areas like that rear canopy, hood, trunk etc, don’t go down then back in the opposite direction with the spray gun.
    The direction of gun travel makes the flakes lay down in one direction, then the return makes the flakes lay down in the other direction. After you clear coat it and stand back in straight blue sky sunlight, the alternate directions you laid down the flakes can look like “stripes”, of lighter & darker shade of paint as the flakes reflect sunlight in opposite directions. It’s less important with fine flake, more important with medium flake & critical with course flake.
    On big flat areas, get in the habit of laying down your paint all in the one direction.
    So, commence with 1/2 trigger air off the part to be sprayed, and as you approach the edge full trigger to lay down paint, follow thru to end & 1/2 trigger air as you pass the edge, keep half trigger air, and pull back to the commencing edge, move to half lap previous pass still holding half trigger air and as you approach edge go full trigger paint and lay down the next layer in the same direction as the first layer of paint. Rinse & repeat. When you start on big flat areas feather out just past halfway & start at full stretch and work your way back toward yourself. It’s easier to reach while your shoulder muscles are fresh and as your finishing your arms closer to your body as your muscles tire.
    Was doing this before either of you were a shag in your dads bag or a twinkle in your mums eye! 😜
    Keep up the good work.
    In cold weather you also have to worry that the flash off even of thinners doesn’t drop paint temp below freezing and bloom ( freeze/go milky) your paint & or clear top coats!

    I don't know how the bottom of your compressor is setup, But I like putting a 90 elbow on the bottom and running a straight copper pipe off of that to extend out from underneath the compressor and put a ball valve on it. Easy access and lets you drain the compressor daily with ease. It will save you headaches and make the compressor last years longer.

    looks awesome I have most of the tools to do this type of work, except the space.... I have been working as a painter since 16 and I am now about to turn 21 . I am so jealous I wish I had the space to work on my projects like you do! Maybe in a couple of more years I might get a house with enough space to work on my truck and future projects... Cannot wait til then. I recently made a custom rat pack tool box for under $600 it's welded together and i painted with bed liner since it's in the back of my truck and I build a giant drawer with dividers for my tools. I often make a lot of custom work I wish I had a buddy to help out the way you do.... Either way I love the content I will sub to keep updated with your progress and videos!

    600 grit works great, i just meant wipe the area that was mapping as theres a bumpy texture, i hate sandin' godammit!! 😃 I usually wipe the paint from the affected (bumpy) area with reducer and feather-sand out the edges of the areas that still have paint, which is what you guys did. Also get a small black rubber squedge (from autobody supply) to put behind the sandpaper when you're wet-sandin, its like 3" x 4" x 1/4" thick or so and has a 3M stamp on it. If you press too hard in one spot for too long with your fingertips, they will leave divits in the paint and it will show up in the final finish. we used to call it finger-fcukin the car, hahaaaaaa. - Still get the orange ball filter for all the guns, condensation forms in the lines when they are a decent length, its $5-7each filter, which is wayyy better than spendin hours fixin paint, if some sh*t comes thru in the clear-coat, trust me your gonna cry, i did, lol - Love that feelin of lookin at the paint and peellin the tape after its all sprayed - and if you dont have one, get a painters respirator from 3M, the kind that you cant smell the paint at all, you might have one already, think i remebr seein one, the icocyantes in the paint are really dangerous, good luck bruthas! guys did an great job, looks awesome..
