Hey Kenny, watched all the build videos and when I saw the American flag painting on the deck I liked the idea and never once thought it showed any disrespect to your flag or country, I actually thought it showed a lot of patriotism (like you said) (This coming from a Canadian) I just think people look for things to complain about. Good job on the boat!
I agree 100 percent. And any veteran would appreciate the pride of living in the best country in the world, my cousin is a Marine and he would not find that disrespectful at all, I will tell him about this channel and boat and flag because it is awesome. This is one of the coolest things I have ever saw able to be done by being recourse full and smart. Kenny you're videos bring me joy. 🇺🇸🇺🇸 happy early 4th Of July
hey ralfdcat I agree with you: walking all over a flag would be disrespectful, but in this case it's a panting of a flag and he put it on his boat to be Patriotic not disrespectful.
I agree with Maritimer, not once did I think that the flag being painted on the deck was a show of disrespect, just the opposite,a show of pride in country and patriotism.Don't let the haters get ya down.
I am happily amazed and glad to see what the younger generation is making these days. Great job! As a former U.S. Army Combat Engineer, you did like we always do. You took what you had available and did a great job. As someone who has a blown out back, PLEASE do me a favor. Do NOT muscle that trailer like you did. It's an easy way to destroy one's back. You're too talented to have to stop building like this. Great job!
My last row boat I painted red, white and blue. It was admired every time I took it out. The boat should be fun for you, family and friends. I'm glad you took the chance on making a budget boat and look forward to updates. Rustolem makes a oil based in red, white and blue in pint cans that holds up really well on boats you can find it at big box stores. Maybe it will be worth it when the boat needs another coat. Thanks for the videos I want to see it in action.
GREAT JOB! It's awesome to see a you man who is not spending his like in front of a computer or video game and is doing something both constructive and fun with his free time.
I think the build so far is great! Glad to see someone your age ring smart budget wise and using some creativity to get the job done. I am a vet and I never once saw a problem with flag painting. Sorry that some people gave you crap. Ready for your next project!
I plan to build one of these boats for next year. I appreciate you providing helpful measurements and tips to make the project better. Thanks for sharing!
No question of disrespect to the flag. Merely a man showing love for his country. Good job. Welsh flag would be a bit harder to produce but hey ho. Coming from an old soldier here in the UK, loved watching what you did here, good explanations all the way & the results speak for themselves. Hope you're still enjoying the pontoon 3 years later...
If you haven't offended at least one person by each day's end, then you aren't worth talking about! I have been procrastinating over a project like this, and I totally dig your vids. I thought the flag was a go from the start. You seem like a decent fellow, and I can't see how anyone could take offense at your obvious sign of respect. From a vet; keep doing what you do, mate.
A little "L" shaped bracket installed around the perimeter to keep things from rolling off the deck into the water would be nice. Some cup holders. Even a few magnets glued various places to hold down metallic objects. Then, the most powerful trolling motor you can find. Awesome build, Kenny!
I watched your build and i'm a vet and I think it shows patriotism but what i really wanted you to know is i love this build and plan on doing one myself.
Wow! Great job. Love it and love the patriotism on putting the USA flag on your ship. No disrespect at all. Im with you Kenny! God bless the USA and people like you who honor our nation by proudly displaying our flag. Others who dont see it that way, its just their opinion and they are entitled to it which I dont agree with them either.
Hey man, great little rig you built there. I want to be one of those that comments on the hardware, though. The people who think you should have used deck screw instead of the ring shanked nails just don't know. Anything that will be moving is going to flex and you wouldn't have been on the water long before your boat started to fall apart if you had used the screws. The actual diameter of a deck type screw, once you get past the threads is nearly nothing and the screws are made from a harder alloy than nails, therefore, more brittle. As soon as you started moving and your frame began to flex, the screws would have started snapping. I'm no expert on fasteners. I'm just speaking from experience so I know. I have had it happen. I guess all of that was just to say that you did a great job and I'm hoping that the "Grand Finale" you spoke of will actually show it on the water.
I wouldn't even acknowledge the people with negative comments. Look at the likes vs. The dislikes...that should give you all the feedback you need. Keep up the good work buddy, can't wait to see this bad boy hit the water!
Looks great Kenny. Don't forget to mount a fire extinguisher. Most states require them. Ya know, I bet a 3 man tent would fit perfect in the middle of the deck. How cool it would be to anchor out and spend the night.
A craft like that could provide shelter for somebody that is outdoors. I would live on that as long as I had a weather radio handy. Bad weather coming in shelter someplace solid but most days it would be ideal around here.
At some point when you have a little extra cash to purchase a couple more barrels you should take those two extra barrels cut then down and shape them into V caps for the front of the pontoons so they will cut through the water like butter instead of act like a break. You can heat weld them together that's exactly what they did at the seams on the barrels. You'll have to cut them to the desired shape but you can do that heat weld them into the shape you choose then heat weld them on to the existing barrels. This will save a lot of energy in pushing that boat through the water.
There's nothing wrong with your painted flag! I don't know you, and I'm proud of you standing up for yourself! Not once did you get nasty. Keep up the good work! I'm 63 I learned something
Great job. In years to come I'm sure you will continue to excell. Our society and country needs more young people to actually see things they start through. It builds character. Again, great job.
i am living in australia looking at your pontoon build good job mate i have just finished a teardrop van build and thinking of putting it on pontoons as we live next to a big river i will have a van and a boat thanks tony from aust
Wow! I loved this video. You are a great young man and very creative. I loved watching this video...likely had great parents who are very proud of you too! Thank you for sharing this and I hope you catch plenty of fish!
Looks fantastic!!!! Can't wait to see it in the water. I'm assuming it is going to sit very high in the water, have great buoyancy and be able to hold a lot of weight do to 8 barrels.
Great job!!! I was one of those people who did bring up the fact about not using deck screws. But I am not a carpenter. I make way to many mistakes to use nails. Let alone ring shank nails. Screw let me correct my mistakes!!! Besides doing with what you have, has all ways been the American way! (At lease it was.) I still think your color chose is outstanding! So next video will be the christening??? Sorry had to ask! Glade you got the video fixed! As always great job! Thanks for taking us along!!!
Kenny did you have to carry the boat with you when you registered it or did they give you the number, just asking because I am not sure because I am building one 9 x 25 with 26 barrels under it because it is going to be a house boat. That will hold up around 9,600 pounds. Could you please let me know if I have to carry the boat and where. I live in Clayton.
looks great ...the only thing I would do is make the rail posts 8 ft so you can put a bimini top or some kind of shade but awesome job what did it cost you total just curious
BraveTheWilds , Kenny, if you really wanted to stir 'em up, should have painted a Confederate Battle Flag on the boat. :D Seriously, man. Looks great. I wish most young men from our country were as talented and as willing to work to build what they want, at your age.
what was your total budget for material registration trailer and motor? I am trying to get something similar going soon, but need a realistic idea of price... great project man!!!
I realize from a later video you explained that you sold it before you ever put an engine on it, but if you had to buy an engine for it, what would your ideal horsepower be for it?
Im in the process of building one of these pontoons have u any problems with your barrells swelling from the sun making them hot then the sun goes down n the barrells getting loose from the cooler air
Greyman Zink Right now the transom is still being figured out since my original transom will not be low enough for the prop to sit in the water. I'll show that once I get it all figured out
As soon as we put one in the water the barrels contracted so we opened the hole to let air in. We just banded 2X4 s to the barrels then screwed the platform to it. Was all done in a couple hours. Then we floated about 65 miles on Tanana river in Alaska
Looking good. I wanna see how it does in the water. I agree with you on the flag issue. Looks better than me and my friends "Huck Finn" raft. lol ;-) Never let someone elses negativity hold you back young Sir.
Make sure that transom mount for the motor is EXTREMELY well supported and thick. I've heard way too many horror stories of diy boats losing their motors because of a poorly built transom mount
Great job brother. Boat looks great. I just happen to be running through some youtube videos, and yours popped up. I'll give it to ya, you've got some thought and man hours in that thing. What engine size did you wind up putting on there? Anyhow, great job again, you've got some pretty impressive knowhow for a fellow your age. 👍
I agree with Maritimer, not once did I think that the flag being painted on the deck was a show of disrespect, just the opposite,a show of pride in country and patriotism.Don't let the haters get ya down.
This is a great build. Ignore the knockers. You have made very effective pontoon boat on a limited budget. My hat goes off to you!
I am happily amazed and glad to see what the younger generation is making these days. Great job! As a former U.S. Army Combat Engineer, you did like we always do. You took what you had available and did a great job.

very nice. "making due with what you have"...I could not agree more! I only had a $200 budget, when I built my pontoon boat, yours came out great
I plan to build one of these boats for next year. I appreciate you providing helpful measurements and tips to make the project better. Thanks for sharing!

OUTSTANDING JOB.AND THE FLAG SETS IT OFF PERFECTLY.I WOULD NOT CHANGE A THING.
I will say it again , nice job Kenny, Show us you and the guys fishing some time. enjoy the fruits of your labour

Grandpa the Grey I did mount a fire extinguisher last night. If only the lakes I used let me go boating after dark.
Great job Kenny. Can't wait to see it on the water.
Boat looks amazing Kenny. Gotta love the red white and blue.
Zachary Lyon Thank you!

Great job don't worry about the peoples comments. I wish I could live in a place where I be near a lake I would make my own pontoon to go fishing to.
nice to see a young Man doing something constructive ..power to ya ..GOD BLESS..
Great job. In years to come I'm sure you will continue to excell.

I love these videos. I really hope that you do another video showing you launching the boat in the lake so we can see the finished product working.
This is a lot better then that guy spouting out the longest list on how to build a pontoon boat. This is simple an straight you have done great.
Looks fantastic!!!! Can't wait to see it in the water. I'm assuming it is going to sit very high in the water, have great buoyancy and be able to hold a lot of weight do to 8 barrels.
Kenny Da Red You are correct, only about 4 inches of draft.
I think you've done a great job of your red/white/blue pontoon boat.
Nice build bud. Shout out from Canada.
Great job!!! I was one of those people who did bring up the fact about not using deck screws. But I am not a carpenter. I make way to many mistakes to use nails. Let alone ring shank nails. Screw let me correct my mistakes!!!
Besides doing with what you have, has all ways been the American way! (At lease it was.)
I still think your color chose is outstanding!
So next video will be the christening??? Sorry had to ask!
Glade you got the video fixed! As always great job! Thanks for taking us along!!!
At least you care enough to paint a flag on her good job buddy!
This is great, you've done a nice job Sir, thank you for sharing your work with us. pierre from New Mexico
You are totally legit kid! Keep going!! God's light and love shine on you as He's given you great talent 😊
I live in Clayton.
don't worry what ppl say. u did good. suggestion use clear marine grade sealant it will extend the life of the wood. happy fishing
Very nice u should do box type benches all along the railing with a hinged seat for storage and table in the center I really like it well done
looks great ...the only thing I would do is make the rail posts 8 ft so you can put a bimini top or some kind of shade but awesome job what did it cost you total just curious
Hey Kenny, newer subscriber to your channel here. Just want to say I've enjoyed your Pontoon boat series and think it turned out great!
Luke M Thank you for subscribing buddy glad you like it.
BraveTheWilds , Kenny, if you really wanted to stir 'em up, should have painted a Confederate Battle Flag on the boat. :D Seriously, man. Looks great. I wish most young men from our country were as talented and as willing to work to build what they want, at your age.
He should put a confederate flag on the floor because they were bad people and should be step on you loser!
Steped
+Mitchellman Now, you are just showing your ignorance - as well as the result of your outcome based education.
Then right don’t tread on me on the bottom
Kenny this is the way I would have to make one. Out of used materials Great job The Flag looks great Keep videos coming Thanks
Great billed man and I love the red white and blue theme
what was your total budget for material registration trailer and motor? I am trying to get something similar going soon, but need a realistic idea of price... great project man!!!
You could always add deck screws later as they come...
Flag is awesome. You're explanation is good enough.
Ignore the ignorance
Hey young man I command your effort all the way, we need more young men like you to take a more forward attitude and do something and be proud of it.
Have you thought of building a small cabin on the boat or creating a spot to hang a hammock?
I realize from a later video you explained that you sold it before you ever put an engine on it, but if you had to buy an engine for it, what would your ideal horsepower be for it?
I love your boat, I think its awesome, way to go man!!
Great job, on the flag issue, why didn't you just mount a real flag on one of the railings?
Im in the process of building one of these pontoons have u any problems with your barrells swelling from the sun making them hot then the sun goes down n the barrells getting loose from the cooler air
Kenny, You said you had an outboard to use on this, how did you set up your transom? Great watching you do your build.
Greyman Zink Right now the transom is still being figured out since my original transom will not be low enough for the prop to sit in the water. I'll show that once I get it all figured out
Dude your awesome, and the boat is awesome.
Good kid. Great project. There is hope.
Great Job do you plan on putting it in the Neuse or just lakes and Ponds?
jwarrick3 I've got a couple big lakes around me that I plan to use it on. Probably no rivers.
Cool I thought about building one to live on for a float from falls dam to newbern big enough just to put a dome tent on
Looks Great, You did a fine job.
Your doing a great job and the flag is a great symbol
Love your project. Do you happen to know how much weight those pontoons can handle ?
Looks great Kenny nice paint job
Gary Cottreau Thank you.
As soon as we put one in the water the barrels contracted so we opened the hole to let air in. We just banded 2X4 s to the barrels then screwed the platform to it. Was all done in a couple hours. Then we floated about 65 miles on Tanana river in Alaska
How does it float? It looks sturdy.
Great job, gave me an idea for sure, gotta build one of these!! Really like your videos, class act!
Excellent job. I can't wait to see how it floats.
cool and you don't have to apologize to know one bout American flag . Good job young man and have fun on the water !
Nice work! I'm gonna do a boat like this for my family. Thanks for the video brother!
great job on it can't wait to see it on the water you need to get some lights to put on it and some red white blue lights to put around the sides also
Nice build!
Did you have to register this beast?
looks great man
love the boat
Not too bad for what you had to work with. A couple more supports and a nice little 120 Yamaha , be good to go
Great job! Now you need lights.
Its your boat who cares what they think, awesome job.
Did you ever get done and in the water?
Let's go cat fishing! I'll bring the grill and a coffee pot. You bring the music and some ice cold soda,
How could any person give a thumbs down. You are awesome Brother!!!!!!! Great Boat
And the best part of the build is, IT"S BUILT IN THE U.S.A........ :) I would be proud to take it out fishing.... Good Job.
Awesome boat. How well does it float
Good Video Kenny. Looking forward to the launch..
olenick 7734 Thank you, took it out today and had a great time. I'll get a video out soon of it on the water.
Awesome build.
Looking good. I wanna see how it does in the water. I agree with you on the flag issue. Looks better than me and my friends "Huck Finn" raft. lol ;-) Never let someone elses negativity hold you back young Sir.
nice job Kenny enjoy your time on the water and the flag colors are cool very Patriot. put a flag on a stick for all the haters lol .a Huge flag
Very nice, I think it looks great.
Hey Kenny. How did you do the caps for the front of the barrels and motor mount
The flag is given another Veterans approval 110% !
Looks cool. Did you make a video of it in a lake? I wanna see that. 👀
I agree...and you are correct, about the flag. It's no different than a sticker.
hey do you think the pontoons have enough strencht to hold that trailer it the water and that boat ?
Make sure that transom mount for the motor is EXTREMELY well supported and thick. I've heard way too many horror stories of diy boats losing their motors because of a poorly built transom mount
Great job brother. Boat looks great. I just happen to be running through some youtube videos, and yours popped up. I'll give it to ya, you've got some thought and man hours in that thing. great innovation please share some more innovative ideas like these
Were the end caps shaped like home plate intended or is that just how they turned out?
SIXPACK110 Just how they turned out.
You are very crafty my man! Great video, learned a lot! I'm shocked you only did i for $200!
Eyup Kenny, I'm about to start building a pontoon similar to yours, thanks for the tips and well done, wishing you well from the uk( Yorkshire)
good job Ken, catch me a huge bass out there on the water.
