As an owner of the U7G 65inch (UK) tv for the last 8 months, I can tell you that it has been exceptional value for money. 👍I was like many rather sceptical, obvious I suspect for many of you; reasons why I might be. HOWEVER from the first time I turned it on it has been reliable, has great functionality, works well with my eARC devices, loving the ability to turn off the screen whilst listening to streamed music, shows, et Plenty of inputs and outputs that do what you want from them. Overall 10/10

I purchased a u7g 65 yesterday. It's on sale right now and was well worth the price. I have a Series X and I was gaming on a 4 series TCL that was just not cutting it at all. The native 120hrz was a huge selling point for me. I tested the TV out with Assassins Creed Valhalla and I am blown away so far.

@@fastcarfootball8710 So, it does support VRR with series X. I am wondering if it will for the PS5 as well that finally added that. I am coming from probably a worse TV than you had which was a Sharp Roku TV. It has such few customization options and the colors aren't even close to what you would think they should be. Would you say this is good for streaming in a darker room watching the usual Netflix, Hulu, Prime, etc? It's on sale (clearance) for $600 and I didn't think I could do much better, but how is it good just for your basic home living room TV. Is the sound really to the point that I need a sound bar? Thanks.

My main concern is the 55” model is reported to have moderate-severe ghosting and smearing.
The 65” uses a different panel manufacturer and has a T-con, but the 55” is integrated according to Hisense.
The 65” was able to get a firmware update to fix motion issues as well as a t-con update that eliminated ghosting and VRR issues.
    And U7G does in fact support VRR/Freesync with a range of 20hz (fps)- 120hz(fps) @ 1080p/1440p/4k.

I bought a Hisense H8C about five or six years ago, and it had one of the best pictures that I'd seen on a mid tier television. It performed flawlessly for the entire time I owned it, and other than lacking a few apps I would have preferred, it was an unbelievable purchase. It also came with the longest warranty I'd seen on any tv back then, like four or five years.

I have the same TV. I've noticed some local dimming problems, however what I didn't see coming was the lack of storage the TV has. I wasn't able to download the latest firmware unless I deleted some apps to create some space. I'm pretty sure the TV only supports 5gb and 1 gb is reserved for the android tv, ect. Also ours has become considerably slower over time. Restarting the TV helps but this shouldn't be an issue. Would have spent up to get more storage and a better processor looking back.

Thanks for touching briefly on what for me is a major issue when you mentioned the Hisence model number is completely different in Australia. I'm an American expat, living in Thailand. I'm laying groundwork for replacing my 55" with a 75" but mining useful information about new models is made difficult by the industries practice of totally different model numbers and features for units sold in Asia. Obviously, they have to be somewhat different to take into account various nations electrical requirements and broadcast bandwidths. However, no effort seems to be made to indicate any kind of similarity between various lines so like a TCL "6" series in the USA bears no resemblance to a TCL P615 series sold here in Asia.
Though your videos are clearly aimed at the North American market, it is truly appreciated when you make the effort to clarify a particular model's status as to international markets.

Just wanted to add that I bought a 65" R8 in 2019 and have had no problems with it whatsoever. 🤞 Excellent picture, features and value for money👍however as the Aussie U8G is probably based on the European U8GQ ie APS panel, less dimming zones and lower peak brightness, ( curiously Hisense Australia refuses to release these basic specifications, ) hence I won't be buying Hisense the next time. 😠👎
      Stay safe. 🍻 🇭🇲

The input lag was noticeable enough I haven’t done much gaming on it (though my recent Switch purchase has been perfectly acceptable for Animal Crossing and Zelda so far). So hopefully if anything Hisense’s QC should be even better now. I was a bit hesitant of the brand, but bought a 65U7G about three weeks ago and am very glad I did. Was planning on a Sony X90J but hated the fact it doesn't have variable width feet, and it was about 50% higher in price at the time of purchase. It's a BEAUTY!!! Highly recommended. The color is very good. Rtings has calibration settings for Theater Night mode which I have utilized, but out of the box setting looks basically the same. Blacks are outstanding as noted. You are right on watching The Night on Netflix (in Dolby Vision). Blooming is non existent! Motion is good and should be set in the "custom" setting. Judder 3, Blur reduction 5 or just go Standard setting which works well. Silver strip? There is none. It's gunmetal, looks really good and the build quality is terrific. Best bang for buck going IMHO.

Hi Caleb, can you explain how the U7G outperforms the U8G in terms of lack of blooming and deeper blacks with much fewer local dimming zones? I'm considering the 55" size only. Does it really have that much better real world contrast than the U8G at the expense of peak brightness?

    • @jimbob3030
      @jimbob3030 2 роки тому

People in the know on the u8g recommend the 65 not the 55 because of more dimming zones, if you are comparing 55 to 55 you're not comparing the best u8g and from what he said here the u7g is his preference in 65 for the better value to performance ratio, not that the u7g is better overall just better value at what these originally retailed for.
I just picked up a refurb u8g 65 for $750 on amazon and that changes the entire value calculation.

I had this TV (75”) for a year and a half before I noticed that it had a huge defect on the screen. There was a 6 inch wide rectangle of dark screen on the right side of the screen. I didn’t notice it because it’s not visible in 70% of the scenes in movies/tv shows you will watch. But when the colors are lighter and more solid you can see it. And when you notice it you can’t unnotice it. No setting got rid of it. The backlight in that area is defective. I was very unhappy when Hisense never responded to my emails or calls for support. You can’t even get a human on the phone. And there is no support option even if you want to pay for it. Lesson learned: Buy a TV from a higher end company that will actually give you support and always pixel check your TV with great detail during the return window!

The fewer local dimming zones were noticeable on the U6G vs the U7G but both weren't impressive. I think the 75in Versions of these tvs use IPS panels vs the 65 and smaller use VA panels. Ended up returning both to get a TCL 6 series with Roku. The TCL looks so much better in my dark condo. Only complaint is that the panel isn't as clean as the Hisense models and Roku is inferior to Adnroid\Google TV. There is significantly more dirty screen effect with the TCL vs the two Hisense TVs i returned. Stick with a 65in for Hisense TVs and save a buck.
