- I said I'd never use a phaser pedal on my harp again. Caroline Guitar Company Arigato helped me phase my fears of using phaser on my harp once again. Phaser on harp is actually pretty epic.
Thanks to Caroline Guitar Company for sending me the Arigato!

plug that t-shirt into a phaser pedal and see if it affects the text

@@emilyharpist Dare I ask how Clippy was born?
You can litterally do this, well like in audacity, it's called data mulching
Emily's commitment to a bit is unmatched the way she just squeezed that ketchup into her gullet.
hahahah✨go big or go home✨
Good lord, that was more ketchup than a human should ingest. I feel gross.
I mean great demo, but BRUH.
This is how we push the limits of human tolerance.
@@noyd4172 WE ARE BREAKING THE CONDITIONING
Yeah imidiately unsub!!
This woman just chugged ketchup straight out of the bottle to prove a point that she can make any effect sound great with the harp. You forever have my respect Madam Hopkins.
Hahaha THANK YOU SO MUCH, Ricardo!!! Dedication to the bit is very important to me👌❤️😂
That was both beautiful and disgusting. Emily is an online culture goddess!
I was not prepared for that moment...
If you set the phaser to stun, it has a much lower chance of hurting anyone
❤👏😂
"I like ketchup on its own" - and the commitment to the bit, oh man, I'm dying here.
lmaoooo I HAD TO ❤😂
From 4:10 to 5:20 it sounded like the background music to an 80’s era episode of Doctor Who. Brilliant!
hahah thank you so much!! 🎶🥰
Stay strong Emily, don't let yourself get phased
👏😂❤
TURN THAT PHASER...UP!!!
I love comedy hour with Emily! TURN THAT PHASER UP!
😂 thanks Brock! Turning it up next time for sure!
Your videos, to me, are the very definition of what it means to be a music nerd or band nerd. I mean that with all the dorky love of the music nerd community! Music, gear, fx, then amazing performances sandwiched between actual slapstick humor. I am VERY here for it!
hahaha THANK YOU SO MUCH, TRAVIS!!! ❤🍅😂
Chaos is the spice of life and Emily is the vessel from which it flows.
hahah thank you so much, Tornix!!! your comment just made my day ❤🍅😂
Definitely agree. Chaotic good all the way.
I'd really like a lengthier jam with the fx combo starting at 4:09, that stuff is hauntingly beautiful. Super alien but soothing as heck.
You got me... LOL right away with the shirt. Also that ketchup bit OMG...
TURN THAT PHASER ON.
You are seriously a textural wizard - keep up the great work!
hahah thank you so much, Jon!! ❤🍅😂
You guys have really been killing it of late. Seriously the quality and consistency with which you keep producing such high quality videos cannot be understated.
thank you so much for the kind words 🥺❤ that means so much to Russ and I!!! thanks for being here with us! 🎶🥰
Well said👍
Oh, it can definitely be understated.
The sound starting at 3:05 is just *chefs kiss* like the end credits of an epic 8 bit game
omg YES I CAN HEAR THAT 🥰❤️
I could listen to your pedal combo (and playing) from 4:10 - 5:15 forever. LOVE IT 👏
The actual sound of paradise, right there.
To me, it's a lot of fun hearing you use all the different pedals on your harp. So many unique sounds.
Now I need a shirt that says Ketchup Related Trauma
Nice Phaser tho ✨ I liked 5:30. Very subtle, but it's there
I threw up in my mouth a little seeing that
@@TedSchoenling HAHAH I'M SO SORRY
The phaser you used is clearly of superior quality. Your harp is an excellent instrument, and your musicianship is marvelous. You made some beautiful and interesting sounds and music.
You have nothing to fear.
As usual, your video is golden. Sounds so good. Thanks Emily!
You sound amazing. And Arigato straight on that harp sounds really cool! The low notes in particular get a Rhodes piano kind of vibe.
I was thinking wurli, but EP for sure.
Heckyeah🤘Its a phenomenal pedal
The setup at 4:10 has a gorgeous sound. I don't normally tell musicians how to make music, but please use that on a song it's so cinematic. 🖤☠🤍
thank you so much!!! :) ♡
I liked the sound you got starting around the 4:10 mark, which was very fantasy, science fiction or horror film soundtrack. Take care.
thank you so much!! I really appreciate that! 🥰❤️
Love that Dream pedal combo with Arigato! Awesome video, Emily!!
me too!! I feel like that Dream pedal sounds amazing when combined with most pedals, it's so good! :) thank you so much, Ambrose!! ❤🥰
Arigato + Hizumitas + Catverns is an extraorinary setup, I would love to hear more of that, especially with slower phaser
thank you for great performances all over, too bad there isn't more 😇
That phaser sounds fantastic with the harp. It almost takes on a weird, synth feel, especially with the Bit Crusher enabled. Loving it!!!
Sounds great omg!
Phase your fears. Words to live by.
That sounds really relaxing. Excellent job. Your playing puts me in a good place.
Nice music. Starting there, the subtle stuff works great!
Absolutely hilarious intro, I'm glad you phased your fears and did this. Truly beautiful sounds were made, thank you.
The Phaser sounds really beautiful on your harp. I think I have heard Alan Stivell using a phaser effect on his harp in the 70ies.
Your music is so incredible. Beautiful pedals in this epic display.
Emily, you are the first person I've ever seen give a shit about misophonia. Ever. Thank you! It's so easy to get blindsided by things that trigger it, so I can't properly express how much I appreciate the warning!
The Arigato and Ama Bitcrusher was my favorite part. It sounds so good! It made me want to play indie games lol. The Catverns and Hizumitas sounded scary but in a good way! And the sequence with the Dream was beautiful. I need to get a phaser for my guitar. 🤔 Keep up the great videos Emily!
That Arigato/Hizumitas/Catverns was amazing!
That one was so fun! Thank you!
Loved the sound from the three pedal set up :-)
The sound from your harp + these pedals is incredible!
Oh and
tURN oFF ThE PhASER!
I got a fever...and the only prescription is MORE PHASER!
👏😂
That was amazing!
Well, Emily, I'd say there's no reason to shy away from it. Just like it does for guitar, it adds a layer of depth and texture to your harp's voice. Now that may not be what you want for everything you play, but it's definitely a nice tool for your toolbox. I liked it!
What is it that people have against phasers? I grew up with 1970s electronic music, so the rich, otherworldly swirling of a string synth through a Small Stone phaser is an incredibly evocative sound for me. Phasers work best when they have plenty of harmonics to chew on, so I previously would’ve thought that the pure tone of a harp wouldn’t work that well through a phaser, but of course with a wide enough arpeggio or glissando you’ll cover a wide enough frequency spectrum to get some phasing action. It’s a very subtle effect, though: a lovely shimmering rather than a spacey whoosh.
This sounds so cool! Scratches the brain in just the right way ❤
Considerable range of possibilities with this configuration. Great post...♨️
Love your harp played solo..
Real time, no other instruments, drums, etc.
Effects are great !!
The only "bad" thing vith your vids is that no matter for how long you play, it allways seem to end to quickly... Thank you for your way of playing an old instrument in a new and awesome way with new tech!!!
thank you so much, Klas!!! 🥺❤️ I really appreciate the kind words, and thank you so much for being here with us!! 🥰
PHASER SET TO STUN(ning)! This entire video is brilliant.
haha thank you so much!! so glad you enjoyed it 🥰❤
Holy SHIT that sounds with the caverns and hizumitas is insane
thank you so much, Charlotte!!! 🥰❤️ glad you enjoyed it!!
That shirt is a whole modulated vibe! 🙏🏾
hahah RIGHT?!? 29 Pedals knows my style 👏😂
Absolute Magic happens at 4:09. Emily has done it again!!!! Bow to Her!!!!!!
thank you so much, Max!!! ❤️🍅😂
Beautiful
Entertaining as always, and not just the ketchup/retching! I actually like a good phaser, though I don't have one currently. That one sounds like fun. Ooh, and that graphic at the end... a little scary, but very cool! Conjures all kinds of weird thoughts.
I don't often feel compelled to like or comment. But these videos are so good.
Thank you Em and Russ.
Lovely!!!
Random disjointed chaos combined with beautiful music. Love it, Emily! (Ketchup spill on Aisle 9!!!)
I love that tone Em.
0:50 that's also the way to get nearly permanent PTD.
Fabulous sounds and made me laugh too :) That first section with the drums made the harp sound like a Fender Rhodes electric piano.
Sounds Great! Tune in, Turn on And Turn Up that Phaser!
god having a bass pickup is like a really awesome split fuction on a synth, what a wild spooky soundscape
I know right?! I love the multiple outputs! 🥰
@@emilyharpist i'm only planning to get a lap harp, so i need to get some moog taurus bass pedal knockoffs and write BARP(bass harp) on it in big white letters and hook it up to an old Touhou soundfont of something
As some who used play drums in a band, I always wondered what all the pedals did, your knowledge and explanations are awesome for a hitty hitty man like me! Plus you're playing is beautiful!
Those sounds staring at 3:44 are utterly amazing. I could listen to it all day :O
Hey Emily Hopkins and Russ! I'm a phaser praiser for I lived through rock guitar of the 1980s! Ride ride ride!
hey Eric!!! Ride ride ride!! I love the term "phaser praiser" 😂 we haven't been live-streaming these past two weeks so we've missed you (but hopefully we'll see you next week!!!) 🥰❤
this is so incredible. i never knew the harp could be so bad ass
Sounds beautiful.......!
Great video. Last piece at the end was excellent. Real thinking music there.
As a side note, my type-1 diabetic pancreas winced when I realized how many carbohydrates that ketchup was, lol
One of my favourite effects! On guitar, bass, and drum machine. Sounds great on harp too. Keep the phaser on!
I've mentioned it before, but I think you'd really get on with the Red Witch Moon Phaser which is a kind of more mellow/musical almost univibe like phaser(also has tremolo options). Mine broke years ago and I've never been able to repair it sadly and they're a little pricey for me to get a new one, never quite found a cheaper phaser that does the same thing though. Pedal that reminds me the most is actually the Maestro Comet Chorus, which I think would also be really nice on harp.
This! This sounds like a thing to try, Emily!
love phaser its my favorite effect, it sounds awesome
cool sounds
sounds freeking amazing :O
Just want you to know this video has made me look you up on Spotify and I now know what'll be my background music for the next little while 😄
The section with the Dream and Arigato together was reminiscent of the lavender town theme, very cool!
I can't force myself to tell you to TURN THAT PHASER OFF because it is just too beautiful. Perhaps me quoting "TURN THAT PHASER OFF" is sufficient
that is definitely sufficient ❤🍅😂
Thanks!
thank YOU, Aaron!!! 🥰✨❤️ I really appreciate the super thanks!! :) I hope you're having an amazing day and the ketchup didn't gross you out *too* much 😂 -- missing the past two Wednesday streams really has me missing everyone!!! 🥺 but we'll be back next week!!
Please release an album of phaser harp and I promise I'd buy it!
That phaser combined with the reverb was absolutely hauntingly ethereal
Pedal sounds ace, gagging/gulping retchup fx...even better!
😂😂😂
At first when you were playing through Arigato it sounded like a Rhodes! It sounded amazing!
Wow, just finishing a bit of a binge of your channel. Great music, humorous and wonderful examples of the pedals. Phasers? If they were good enough for Jimi, they’re good enough for me!
Haha thank you so much! I really appreciate you being here!
Pure gold
Haha thank you!
That's a real beautiful sound! 2:50
That ketchup part xD didn't see that one coming.
On a real note, I really enjoy your melodies and what it is you do with the pedals.
If a Phaser works on a Rhodes piano, there is a good chance it will work on a harp. Your harp sounds amazing. Cheers Em.
This is gonna get a "Hell Yeah!!" From me!!! (Also that hat is a VIBE)
♡♡♡
HE'LL YEAH 🤘GOBBLES
Hahaha! Phaser is rad on harp, I don't know what everyone is smoking. Maybe because it reminds me of many great phaser Rhodes/Wurly sounds. Great demo as usual!
HAHAH I KNOW RIGHT?!? It also sounds amazing on guitar!! I loved what you did with it 🥰❤️ thank you so much for watching!
NEVER EVER TURN THAT PHASER OFF!!!
Cheers!
♡
Hey Emily, just wanted to say cool hat and shirt! Also, great video by the way. Have an awesome day and thanks for the sleepy time vibes!
hey Jordan!! thanks so much for being here with us, and thanks for watching!! I hope you had a wonderful day today! 🥰❤
Ketchup bit was frigging awesome!
Personally, as long as it's not too intense, I really like the sound of a phaser. I use a Boss Phaser with my bass, it sounds really good when used properly.
The stuff you were playing early in the video before 2:00 sounded really nice. Sounds good with the Dream pedal too.
SET YOUR PHASERS TO HARP!
....I think I may have misunderstood the assignment...
😂😂😂
Very late 70’s-early 80’s sound. Art Garfunkel’s solo album comes to mind. I like it.
thanks so much, Terry!! ♡ :)
TURN THAT PHASER OFF needs to be a meme now. Absolutely lovely playing by the way.
mwahaha thank you so much!!! 🥰❤ I can totally see that being a meme lmao
*WARNING: THIS VIDEO IS AWESOME.* Also, that shirt is amazing. Also, also: 🤣
❤️Great work phellas™! (Joe killing it on drums💪) And those ✨*HARMONICS*✨😙🤌
hahaha THANK YOU SO MUCH CHRIS 🥰❤️😂 I got lucky on those harmonics!!! 😈
If I've had a rough day, all I have to do is check out Russ and Emily's channel. Always puts a smile on my face, most of the time I bust out laughing.
Thanks for the attitude adjustment (and the amazing music)!
Harp and phase really reminds me of that 70s Rhoads piano sound. It's nice.
By itself the arigato just sounded beautiful
thank you so much!! thanks for watching :) ♡
An idea that I'm so curious about. I wonder how this pedal would pair with the Chase Bliss Generation Loss one. You get these really cool type of artifacts with the phaser pedal that probably could be intensified with a pedal that further adds to the dying transformer sound. Love how cool that phaser pedal sounds imo
Not only did you overcome your fears but also share the same love of ketchup that I do! Hahahaha at the end 😆 poor Russ tho! I really loved the sound of it through the UA dream it sounded really lovely.
It was *Beautifuls* 😀
Hahaha Russ really was the one who suffered! The vibrato setting with Dream was amazing!
So basically, I now have a fear that Emily will start gulping Ketchup at every video intro... so, the only way to phase that fear is for you guys to do more videos.
LMAOOO ❤️🍅😂 I promise this will be the only time I drink ketchup
@@emilyharpist heheh wow, you know I would never let my faux phase fear forgo you from feverishly finishing-off pharyngeal ketchup in the future! Feel free !!
