this one left me baffled i had to process it for some time, imagine what Xal can do with this Artifact when it gets even more Power.. thats horrifyng. Seing Kadghar getting dematerialized was hard too, reminded me of Varian being helpless and having to face this gruesome death.
I don't think he's dead, too much ambiguity. In four of the last major character deaths it was made apparently clear by Blizzard that they'd died, say Varian, Saurfang or Tirion Fordring. Nathanos, was of course off camera because they couldn't show him being beheaded, but sound was clear enough. With this we only saw his arm partially disintegrate, he could have been teleported elsewhere, being kept captive or as a puppet of Xal’atath. Since part of the power she mentioned no doubt also included Khadgar, when she said 'Goodbye Guardian' that could have implied she was switching him from that role to a puppet of her own use. Likewise Blizzard have also left details ambiguous to get people talking on social media platforms, is Khadgar dead? Is he alive? If you also watch the clip of the explosion, the swirling void sphere closes just before the main explosion goes off. Like it's collecting everything before disappearing and leaving the explosion in in its wake. Right now I'm 30% believing he's dead and 70% believing he's still alive. Plus for such a character, it was (IF permanent) a shit send off. Edit: HA, told you so.
No ppl back then also did not believe that Varian was dead untill the patch came where anduin found his ashes. Still there is a other cruel option, MILD SPOILER: there is a leviathan flying around the Crystal during the void cycle and the Name is "the Guardian". Who knows perhaps he got turned into such a creature or they just play with us, which is fine too. Im down with all options, i just hope blizz dont let the cat out of the bag early doors with that.
Just keep this in mind: Medivh is still out there. No way would Blizzard pass up bringing him back for real at some point during the saga, if not for the 20th anniversary of WoW. And considering his connection with Khadgar...
This wrote me off this scene I had read a spoiler right at the start of the announcement and have lived with this thought of it happening but to actually get to early access and see it first hand i was so upset :( cried for a hot minute and then the next day i was still mourning him! but for me he cant be dead... i wont accept it until we see him take his last breath
IMHO this is going to play out 3 directions. 1. He's dead 2. He's in the Void and in a later Patch "Guess who's back" 3. He's in the Shadowlands meets sylvanas tells her what's happening she returns and nukes everything in sight, Her Redemption arc is complete

I think some higher powers will finally bestow him Guardian powers and send him from the void back to Azeroth, similar to Gandalf the Grey being sent back as Gandalf the White.
Please don't despair, I have a theory that Khadgar is still alive, he's just trapped in some void prison and part of the next story will be his liberation.Only the creators came up with a ruse to think that he died . Mainly, it is not visible that he has died, in my opinion he is only imprisoned, so let's hope that everything will be explained
@MegaPanCakes24-wm9ms We actually don't know what Xal actually is, and we also don't know the limitations of the strength that consuming a dark naaru has upon a mortal, everything is up in the air ATM.
@MegaPanCakes24-wm9ms Chris mentioned that Xal is not gonna die in the war within in his interview so I'm pretty sure if anything is going to happen it may be a fight, but Xal is going to walk away. There's just so many questions around her like, could she be a Priestess of the black empire that became powerhungry and was imprisoned inside of the blade, or is she the rumored fifth old god, or is she just a void being, or lastly is she a void lord herself, I find theorizing the possibilities entertaining.
A lot of mages were taken prisoner no? Khadgar is probably kidnapped with the lot of them to be used as some kind of mana battery for the void. So we can go save him, yay.....
Khadgar "died" off panel. He's not dead, but we will probably have to fight a Void possessed version of him. Also, It might take a few expansions but the Kirin Tor will build another Dalaran.

They didnt show his full death for a specific reason, it wasnt like varian when he got disenchanted and you saw him pretty much turn to dust. Khadgar will be back.

Looked pretty dead to me. Same as Varian being hit by the Fel. Can't imagine 3 being realistic. Shame, Khadgar was one of my favourite characters.
