I’m glad I did compound only lifts, first while natural as I dirtybulked. I realized years later however that all my lagging parts needed so to speak “touch up” work with isolation, and it’s now so easy to make further mini gains
We need more of this maybe in a podcast series, I would like to know your favorite exercise selection per muscle group and your whole approach to training
Injuries forced me to get back into it slowly, and I built a more shredded, detailed physique with the fluffy stuff, however, I've put on serious size by doing the true hard shit, compound IS king. The body only grows when put under more duress than what it is used to, and compound is the best way to get size, 💯 Beyond failure, forced reps, get a partner
Unless you’re extremely lucky, your joints will slowly lose durability regardless of if you lift heavy or not. I feel like it’s important that you do the heavy lifts while your joints still feel indestructible. There are workarounds but as Tom Platz once said “why do an inferior movement compared to squats.” That’s the thing I miss most about lifting when I was younger. Heavy squats without having to worry about my knees.
Light weights high reps and intensity. Full range of motion and focusing on healthy eating. Most people do get joint problems, but a lot of people don’t.
This is probably a stupid question: but, does it matter what the weight is when going to failure? Example: does 30 reps of 10kg give the same stimulus as 15 reps of 20kg? Providing both of those sets go to absolute failure?
Yes. You get more out of the heavy sets, force = mass x acceleration. That being said your muscles requires more and more mass to accelerate heavier and heavier weights (force) during a movement. You need big muscles to move big weight it’s essential if you’re trying to get like he says “big big”, but the best is a combination of the two. Provided that were wondering what’s going to get you the most gains.
I making way more strength gains doing mostly compound movements like bench squats and deadlifts and free weight excercises but the machines seem to be not as effective
I train alone as well and I can go to failure on pretty much everything. For bench, you just go till you can barely get the weight up and I mean barely, like one more rep and you’d be stuck.. that’s all you need. A smith would definitely assist with that for sure though!
Well, I don't train alone but even at my gym I never take support or spotter or ask the trainers. So the exercise variations I choose are the ones safer for training alone. Like I do Dumbbell Incline Presses, with Smith Machine it is even more safer but in my gym it is usually busy even if I arrive there the first. Also, You must do Squats on Smith or if not smith, then do it on Squats rack with safety build, where you can rest the bar in the stretched position if you wanna go to true failure. Also, Instead of doing Chest Flies with Dumbbells or even Cables, do it on Pec Deck only. Same for rear delts too. Also, Completely withdraw from Dumbbell Pullover, that exercise is bs as it doesn't provide any resistance even for 3/4 range of motion, let alone in contracted position so there is no way to go to failure in there, it is only systemic fatigue that may stop you from doing reps, not the failure. Do Cable Pullovers only, you'll get the best lats of your life. I don't there's any other exercise that really stimulates growth you might be doing that may be causing you to not go to failure bcz of Fear of crashing down.
Go to failure. If on bench just ask for a spot. If squat, use safety bars. Everything else you can go to failure with little danger. Just keep ur ego in check.
To seperate the fluff from proper exercise for maximum stimulation and growth is to pick one exercise for each body part .. theres no way a cable fly for chest would grow muscle like an incline bench press compound movement..
Theres plenty of reason to train to failure and even beyond, you dont have to do it all the time nor should you especially while cutting, but its another tool in the box, just like training a rep or two away from failure.
@@Bivol_ yes you can. Its called puting the weight down and resting 5 seconds then going again. Or getting assisted reps once you cant do anymore. Do you even lift?
@@Ojthemighty what kind of question is this? If i lift or not. I should rather ask you if you even lift. You cant train beyond failure. Dropset is just another set with no rest use your brain. You did the same thing if you do dropset you did two sets with no rest
Kai Greene says compound exercises don't build muscle? That's weird considering he incorporates them into every workout. He's known for squatting massive weight so 🤷🏽♂️
@@amadabdellatif1First off- Kai has never said that compound movements aren't the main driver of building muscle... Second- Fouad can squat 5 plates which is not a "warm up" for anyone, my man...
Bench , squats , and deadlifts . Free weights . The meat and potatoes of weight training and bodybuilding.
Press too
Nah deadlifts don't build jack shit.
Pullups, rows, overhead press. Cant forget these as well.
yupp. most guys who have higher numbers in these movements have a great start on their physique
Dips, OHP, front squats, RDLS, pull-ups and rows.
Compounds for chest, back, legs and isolation for arms and shoulders
Not necessarily
If you are not supposed to be on stage show then only compounds are enough
Straight bar standing barbell curl are not Isolated, all of your body is involved!
Power Cleans

I agree that would be awesome!
@@hosstilesuppsI agree, I do mainly compound movements, will the long head of the triceps get worked great with heavy pressing alone?
Respect. I am learning this now. But not enough people discuss it

Even for a little bit of muscle, compound movements are king regardless! 💪🏽

Periodizing training between high intensity and high volume will help can't lift heavy for months on end.

Not me...when i wanna get big i go to mikes short cut channel 😂
Switched to doing this a couple years into lifting and the change was dramatic
I agree with out them results ill be under development of the body. Very important message

Would you give same advice to women as well ?
Is there any videos where we cam see compound work outs

Can you burn fat with compound?
Nope weight lifting doesn’t burn much fat but if you put on more muscle and you eat the same it is easier burning calories.
Yes
Never been a fan of the fluff in the gym. Most of it looks silly. The fluff usually comes with poor form too
