PPG Waveterm Monitor Demo

- This is an unscripted quick demo of some of the basic functions of the PPG Waveterm as given by tech Ed Miller. It's not meant to be instructional or entertaining, rather just a demo that it works as it is for sale.
I've owned a couple of PPG Wave 2.2's in the past. That 2.3 has the typical Pratt and Reed "kicked-in picket fence" look as the keys are uneven. I don't think I've ever seen a PPG Wave that didn't have a key bed that looked like that. LOL. I'd love a Wave 2.3 with Waveterm A or B but the prices are now absolutely ridiculous.
And to know that this was state of the art back then!
I had a similar display issue with my Waveterm-A (5.25"), except mine didn't get any better no matter how long I left the Waveterm running. I made a video on my channel of the video display. The problem ended up being a faulty chip in the video display circuitry. When I looked at the garbled screen, I figured it was a video generator issue.
Yours looks like some capacitors on the Waveterm main board, or in the CRT display driver that need replacing.
Yeah, finding those old chips can take awhile, we've had to have Ed do some more troubleshooting with this since we've sold it.
Is that a waveterm A or B? I'm trying to figure out if the PPG wave 2.3 also works with the waveterm A
It is Waveterm A. The unique aspect of this unit is that it was somehow configured to run Waveterm B software. So while the unit itself is a Waveterm A with the 8 inch floppy drives, it has Wavterm B software loaded on it. Ed doesn't recall specifically but figures this was a custom configuration done for Michael Boddicker at some point.
I feel bad for the guys who spent years designing and building this only to have it be obsolete a few short years later. It actually has some decent sounds tho. Very warm and full. Just a clunky design.
To load a disc hit “Help” lol
wow a old 8 inch diskette.
...read the funking maunals ! Thanks... -.-

8 bit?
Yes, that's correct!
+Techno Empire thanks.
you can try to change the diskette with a SD card reader
We'll let the new owner do that if possible. We are selling it just as we received it.
+Techno Empire ah ok.
