Batocera is based on linux is an open-source and completely free retro-gaming distribution software. Please note that the current & latest version is still on the beta stages, so expect to face some issues with emulation performance. Alright I am getting this question a lot so it’s better that I pin this comment for your convenience. If the SHARE folder is not showing up after the installation of Batocera then do this:
On windows search bar type “Disk Management” you’ll see your sdcard. Right click on the one with the more space(right beside Batocera) & select “allocate a drive letter” it should be something like that. Click on next & finish. Your drive should show up. Just rename it to “Share”. Then insert your sdcard into your handheld for it to create the required folders as shown on the video.
Buddy let me tell you i have been through hell and back trying to solve this but this has finally solved this damn issue. been searching high and low to solve this lol. i've been working through parallels as im on a mac so been even more complicated.
“Fasten up the conversation” is one of my new favorite phrases. Great content
I really appreciate your honesty about the firmware. Great video! Subscribed!
Thank you for your comment & sub! Much appreciated!!
I tried this CFW out and I liked it because it supported a TON of systems right out of the box. I think I had like 120 systems at one point. And I loved having video previews with the little game synopsis scrolling on the side too. What I didn't like was the poor performance in some systems and the fact that this custom firmware hasn't been updated in over 6 months!
I am using stock now and it has been great. I miss the video previews but I do have box art for mostly all my games. Performance on Saturn, Dreamcast, and PSP is really amazing for how weak this chipset is.
Absolutely! Batocera is one beautiful looking CFW in all honesty. It’s just that it’s a bit too intensive when it comes to systems like this. But it does run games till PSOne with little to no issues.
The stock is an all rounder when it comes to performance. Hope Anbernic can bring in some changes to the Aesthetics on the Stock OS, that would be just about perfect!
@@DrBrute7 Yes, I agree. If we had access to themes and scraping it would be about as perfect as you could get. They allowed themeing on the RG353P so I don't know why the change.
Could do with a better/2 more minutes or so explanation of where to correctly place the bios files, mine are all in the bios folder but the device can't find them
I have two2SD cards, can i switch between OS with the original one?
sure
I'd like to swap firmware but I hate dealing with Rom folder setups
People sell them installed already
@@Estradachris23 nah like, I have my Roms on the second SD, but one firmware expects the Roma in this folder with that subfolder structure, another wants it in another.
And while muos doesn't care about how you set up your folders, save files are stored at different folders and you have 50 mostly empty folders with stupid names from batoceta and I hate it.
You can just have a new ssd for this. That way you can prepare it at your own pace without losing the existing os and roms and all that
@@XaldreTheOriginal i know i can swap the os sd card. but i want all the oses to load my roms from the same folders, find the save files in the same folders, find the bios in the same folders etc. so i can actually switch the firmwares freely. i'd like to be able to simply start a game on muos for example and if i ever feel like using the fancier interface of batocera, switch the first sd card and continue right with the same game and switch over to garlic should it get a cool update.
but thats not possible, because they all have different folder setups and batocera specifically does impose how they need to be set up for you.
MuOS lets you place your roms in any folder and uses a file browser; you then just press the SELECT button to choose the default emulator when in that folder.
I just stumbled to your video and I love how honest you are on the PSP emulatoon on batocera. I have a question tho, can you update the PPSSPP emulator or not?
No you manually can’t. The changes are made as a whole with each new version update.
@@DrBrute7 thank you so much for the reply. ❤️
Flycast VL works great for me for dreamcast. Some games may not load, but even if they load on flycast, they don't run particularly well.
Hello, are you also facing problem with Nintendo DS games? Retroarch does not seem to work correctly, plus save states are not being created for me.
I am... buttons seem messed up
maybe...cause this is not the koriki version
batocera / koriki = best cfw at the moment!
i recommend rufus instead of the two process in formatting
dope ty for the recommendation, i was having issues w/ the disk imager working, and rufus is an all in one, lite, and fast solution!
batocera really upgrades performance but remember this device is cheaper than a PSP.
how to change brightness? a ok, function+volume change
Part of the main reason I installed Batocera on my RG35XX Plus is to have KODI Media Center. There are folders for Kodi content that I have loaded movies and etc in. Though, there is no KODI app showing up at the menu screen. Anyone else having this issue?
For some reason my SD card shows SDHC(E:) BATOCERA (F:) SHARE(G:) and the share folder is empty, so now i dont know where to put the bios files or roms, some help wouldbbe greatly appreciated, thank you.
i have same issue too, not sure if its faulty sd card? did you find a solution?
@@bakajeff I think the issue for me was I had 2 SD cards installed and some of the files went to the first card and the roms and bios files went to the second card, not sure if that's the problem your having but I hope it helps 👍
@k9ine787 yup just found out too, all running smooth now! Cheers
@@k9ine787 THANK YOU!! I have been wrestling with the same problem on and off for DAYS and couldn't figure out why. Can't believe it was as simple as taking out the second card 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Hello again, I’ve managed to install batocera on mine but I’m having a bit of a problem on how to put the bios properly. Do I just put the bios in the bios folder? Or do I need to make specific folders for the bios depending on the console I’m gonna use it for.
You could try just one system bios file in there first then add another to see if you need a folder?
For me, I just moved all the bios files/folders from the stock SD card into the bios folder on my new SD card and everything works fine.
How do I increase brightness?
Press F-Button and press Volume up or down

Can you help me? My device (RG35XX Plus) when using Batocera, does not create any folders/directories after installation. I have tried reinstalling the firmware twice and get the same results.
Figured it out. I had to remove my second SD card, then start Batocera and direct it to external drives.
Do these newer Anbernics still have Portmaster?
Yes. Out of the box.
Is it also possible to have this Batocera Os in SD card1 and the roms and bios files on SD2?
Not the bios files. But you can store rom files on the sd2.
@@DrBrute7so if my Roms are on sd card 2 how do I access them? Can’t seem to see roms unless their on the 1st card

I have already tried flashing with rufus and Disk Manager anf formating via Windows and the formating tool. Tried 2 different SD cards with 64 GB on 2 different PCS. Always the same outcome: I end up with only the Batocera folder but no SHARE folder. Any ideas?

I'm waiting on my rg35xx h in the mail now. I'll probably have to use the OS it comes with. Me two stoopid to download a new OS 😔
Does the boottime still stretch up to 46 sec.?
If that's the case MuOS with with its 5 sec. boottime should be more practical
I have the SHARE drive on the SD card but I have no sub folders. I have tried reflashing the drive and using it in the console (which all loads up fine) but i get a blank SHARE drive. Is it meant to create the folders automatically?
Yes. It should create them automatically

whats the best CFW you could suggest to install on this console? Iv heard the pre installed software is not very aesthetic so I'm waiting for it, bought the console and this is my first time with this kind of handheld so I am very new on this matter
any help I would really appreciate it.
best regards
If you’re looking for aesthetics definitely this is a great choice but in terms of performance it’s okay but the psp emulation is not good at all.
Latest stock is the best FW for this device so far. Performance is better than any CFW and the everything functions i.e bluetooth, wifi, etc

I have seen people playing Saturn on Batocera, How do I get them running? They run on StockOS.
Well they didn’t run for me when I tried. So I can’t provide you a resolution.
I discovered that the saturn_bios.bin that comes in the StockOS is empty (0 bytes). So I replaced it with another one I found and they work!! Yes 🙌

Hello, I think I broke the psp emulator on mine😢. It started to show just a black screen when I changed the settings up a bit for the games to run a little smoother. I’m still on the stock os and hoping to find a way to factory reset the thing. Does anyone know how to fix it?
Try going into system config & try looking for the ppsspp folder(most probably inside the Retroarch folder). Just remove it. It’ll fix the issue.
Thank you so much for your suggestion! Will it permanently remove the psp on my system altogether? If so, how do I install it back? It’s one of the reasons I bought it.
That’s just the config file. Since you changed the settings, they get saved in that folder. It won’t affect ppsspp. Remove that folder & keep it in some location on your pc just in case. Then try it out, if it runs then you can delete it permanently. Either way you’re not able to run the emulator, that config file isn’t that important.
