The stiffness is properly scale. The real Willys was notoriously stiff and bouncy, to the point that the driver could very easily eject the back seat passengers on rough terrain! I kinda wanna get one of these, the Toyan see-through 4-cycle, a bit of aluminum to make a non-see-thru heat-resistant head, and combined the three.
Great truck, filming and narrating as good as ever. A great truck for those interested in 1.6 for gentle crawling. Steven Spielberg is driving mine.....great fun, alot of truck for the money.
Awesome to hear you finally got yours. It performs pretty decent for factory. I'm actually working on upgrading mine while watching this video. I made custom links to length the wheelbase a bit and installing 1.9 rc4wd baja claw tires now. They work well and don't rub, even with the stock shocks.
@@stpbasss3773 I really like the rig. The jeep works well stock out of the box but could be improved but what rc doesn't,lol. But surprisingly the stock tires do grip well. I upgraded the electronics, wheels and tires and links. I'll do the shocks soon but unsure on size I want to run. But its definitely worth the price as the detail is great. My only complaint on it is that it's not a leaf spring rig like the real jeeps were. But watch a few videos on it and see for yourself what your thoughts on it. The best thing is to just have fun with it 👍.
Fantastic........the details and front wheel position I corrected on the smaller jeep already corrected; and added things like an engine under the bonnet. One VERY minor gripe, the apertures in the front grill for the headlamps are not round on the real thing, they are more egg shaped, like Ray Ban Aviator lenses shaped. But then I am an old nerd/anorak........
Man they got those over seas a year ago. I tried when I first saw videos and couldn’t find it . It’s weird it took them so long to get it to other parts of the world but happy finally did.
I have not seen a full break down! Every piece that has any relevance and the build back up. It looks awesome but people need to see the trans, axles, transfer case, gears, drive sharers, and quality of the metals used. The good! The bad! And what can be done to make it bulletproof and reliable for the years after the company disappears. Love the channel. It’s a lot but you can do it! Thanks in advance! Cheers!
Well done Phil , been waiting for the review and a moment to sit down and enjoy it , quite the nail biter there on them rocks . Would liked it to be leaf sprung for that " anatomically correct" look , the performance was on par for the 1:1 unit . Thanks for another great video 👍👍💪💪
Well, as you probably know my first car was a 42 Ford GPW and it is pretty much identical to the Willys MB. In fact GPW stands for general purpose Willys. That one is pretty much identical to the one I had and the axe and shovel are even in the right spot and all the rivets and things are where they're supposed to be. However the only maker of Jeeps in late is 1941 was Willys and by some time in 42 they realized they needed more Jeeps than Willys could build so they gave Ford the plans and had them start building them too. Ford added the stamped grill everyone recognizes to this day. Early Willys machines had a slat grill with special cage opening for the headlights and was much harder to make. Shortly after Ford came in Willys adopted the stamped grill to speed up production and make them as fast as possible. Anyway technically it isn't a 41 Jeep but they did get finalized and released in late 41 and for a short time the military was using even prototype early jeeps from Bantam, Willys, and Ford. The original Bantam prototype was delivered in early 1940 and everyone else jumped in with similar versions hoping to win a huge military contract. They eventually chose the Willys MA version and grafted on the best ideas from the other two versions and that became the MB we all know. That thing is a beautiful scale version you can play with and drive.
Wow that was super interesting I'm not being sarcastic. I always love learning something new about a vehicle, I do vehicle wraps for a living so I'm always around cool vehicles. Hi phil was so impressed with driving it at Bercc club i've ordered one great scale detail very smooth drive train and drives perfectly scale on 2s , did you notice there are two bonnet toggles to hold the hood down cant wait to get the paint out and get weathering see ya soon buddy
The rock quarry looks like Italy when we were having major losses and some bad decisions were made by Churchill but overall he is the reason it was won. Anyways the Jeep looks like it has more wheel than tire
Same here Adrian. I transformed the suspension on mine by removing the oil and two translucent lower washers from each shock. The weight of the body stops most roll/bounce but leaves fluffy suspension on all four corners. The weight of the driver figure on the left tilted the vehicle somewhat so a 1/4" preload on that side's shocks corrected that. I removed the translucent washers as the shock shafts got hung up on them if left to settle for an hour or so...👍
@@davidmartin1093 so it's a factory problem the fact that after not being used for a while gets hanged up, tough it's a problem only with mine, since my comment, I end up by replacing all shocks with a cheap set at 24£ by amazon and works well

Hi there, nice rc, i think it’s awesome, looking forward to getting my one. If you remove the drivers seat 💺 base, the driver figure should look 👀 spot on. Hi Yes removing the driver base seat works, mount plugs too, easy to create new plugs if seat is ever replaced. My jeep had a dud steering wheel servo, may replace with metal gear alternative servo.
Your rear shocks were articulating well but the front were stiff. Did you do anything to change that since this video? Mine arrives Friday so I am interested in your thoughts.
I'm trying to decide between this or a gmade sawback. I know the sawback will be more durable and capable but this this is so damn cool. Plastic is better for a rc anyways, I dont think I've ever seen someone put real glass on a rc crawler because 1. It's super heavy in the area you dont want weight 2. It will break guaranteed lol

Nobody who drove and owned those later on ran the stock wheels and tires on those by the 60s. Mine had probably either cj5 wheels or maybe Bronco or whatever typically size they were from some car and had 8.25x15 aggressive snow tires on it. I really wanted a set of the original ww2 combat rims and managed to find a set with decent tires and put them on 6.00x16. They were noisy, drove horribly on the street, and one was slightly bent. I switched back to the much wider steel rims with 15 inch snow tires and it drove much nicer and was better off road. Most of the early military trucks ran very narrow tires, but the power wagon was heavy enough they, after the early 1/2 ton version, realized they needed much wider tires to work well and went with 9.00x16 which was very wide back then. The early version ran 7.50x16.
