Sometimes it’s chaotic but it tuned out nicely in the end. A pothos is always the one that I can separate, propagate, and she will do well. A simple soil mix that I use is indoor potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite. I had these beautiful pothos that I wanted to do more with so I was able to separate and make more to have throughout the house. I’m loving it so much more now.
I always heard from all the bloggers not to hurt the roots of the plant n all those blah blah.. but I always see u break the roots, wash them clean and again put it in fresh soil. I need your help with this "monster" of a plant that I have in my office. I inherited him from a previous employee and it was just a small sad plant. The stem broke in half one day and I planted the broken half in the same soil and it grew two new stems. This plant is now over 10 feet high and keep growing. I don't even know what kind of plant it is, but it looks tropical. I had a pothos growing next to it and during the pandemic when we were out of the office for 2 years they somehow joined together and now their connected at the roots. Help!!!
I take care of my gym’s plants (they have a LOT) and I recently spent like 5 hours repotting a bunch of their pothos, and the whole time I was puttering around and muttering to myself “shimmy that shoil” and “drown that hoe”. 😂 I might’ve sounded weird but I swear it helps me feel like I’m doing it right! 😅🪴 🙌
I had a huge golden pothos named “la pelua” that was propped on a moss pole and had vines running down to the floor. She nearly died in December due to a cold front a few days before I got back from travel. >90% of the plant was a goner and I was not positive it would survive. I spent over an hour removing all of the dead smelly leaves. Fast forward to August, she is thriving and has a gorgeous variegation! These are truly resilient plants that are a joy.
My leaves on one I f the vines turned yellow and died. I pulled those off and put the stem in a bulb jar to root. It rooted and I replanted it. The vine has grown new leaves and looks so much healthier. I never thought about adding Orchid bark, and that might be just what it needs. I do have them in self watering pots. Would that make a difference?
Krystal you and your plants are so much fun to watch. I know you had this one. Pathos are such strong and loving plants, they can take repotting like a breeze. I have 2. Love the finished product.
I did the exact same thing today with my own pothos!!! He was too crammed on his pot, and was thinking "what would Crystal do?". Tore some roots, heard her voice "don't worry, there's plenty more", and in watering time of course it was "drown that *oe"!😅
I have 6 pothos pots in my house all from the same plant cutting. My friend gave me 2 pots with her cuttings in it and now they have taken over my house. And I love it.
This is how I felt yesterday repotting my Xanadu philodendron. It was so root bound and I decided to put it in leca. I was too lazy to put a hose to it but I was giving it the people's elbow and all.
Omgosh my husband says we should get together, he rolled his eyes, says I'm JUST like you! Plant 🪴 🌱 🌿 🌾 🌵 crazy and talking to my babies! Doing a dance when I'm in the Garden area!😂
I'm a new plant parent. This morning I will be undertaking the same project with my pathos that I bought from Home Depot. So I'm rewatching multiple times. And I will be "shimmering that shoil".
I use to like going to the "discount area" at Lowe's and Home Depot to get plants for cheaper, especially if I was experimenting with them. The last time I went, I bought $150 in regular full priced plants and another $65 in the discounted area. Their discounted area wasn't much of a discount because the prices were 3 to 4 times what I paid for them in the past 3 years. 9 times out of 10, the problem with the plants is not enough water. BUT, pay close attention that the plant isn't infested with aphids, spider mites, or a fungus. You definitely don't want to take those home to your established plants. I lost everything when I didn't pay attention once.
Thank goodness!! I have been so affraid to transplant my monster golden philadendron. It is intimidating. Thanks to you I will conquer that bad boy!! Thank you Krystal!
You gotta get a cutting growing up a moss pole by itself. Trust me you'll be impressed by the transformation the leaves start going through as it climbs! (D-shaped plastic back is my suggestion)
Only got a dozen or so of UK starter plants, but now I have a shopping list of bit n bobs including soil stuff, all cribbed from what you use. My house may be in trouble. Loving the "shimmy that soil, drown that hoe along with people elbow"
I finally propagated my pothos today. I now have 2 containers of snow queens propagating, 2 containers of neon, and one golden pothos. My window in my kitchen is filled with plants now and they temporarily helped my itch to buy a new plant lol.
I love pothos. I got a cutting from a plant my parents had who they in turn had gotten a cutting from a family member. Mine was going so well and then I moved into a place with cats and they would not leave it alone and unfortunately my room which it was kept in the door didn’t stay shut very well. So after losing over 2/3 of its leaves I decided to cut it into a bunch of pieces and have been growing propagating them in water. Even decided to just put a few pieces of stems without leaves and those have even started to develop a new stem and some roots I’m extremely impressed that they didn’t just die. I do think that I am about to give one of the cuttings back to my parents had their pothos has died due to neglect due to live circumstances. So the plant continues.
I don’t mean this to sound creepy in any way but I recognize that it could come off that way. What state do you live in? From the background of your picture it looks gorgeous! For reference, I live in AZ in the very hot desert and so living somewhere with green and hills is my dream.
Not creepy at all. I’m in Indiana. Although it looks like we have beautiful rolling hills, this is probably the only hill in a 20 mile radius 😂 we are pretty flat here. I do love that I can pretend I’m somewhere else with the hill in the back.
Did you loosen the roots before you repotted it? That is a very healthy house plant😍😍😍 can you write down the name of the plant so i can try to find one on line please.
Is the plant getting enough sunlight? I had my plant for over 3 years and rarely fertilized it. I made sure it was close by a window with good sunlight & watered it when it needed it.
@@js8741 I think I need to give it a bit of more sunlight… thankyou… what kind of fertiliser do we use for pothos? It cannot be the flowering plant fertiliser I assume..

Love these plants so much, they're my favorite besides succulents/cacti in general but MAN they are a pain to repot just because there's so much of them. I'm glad that I haven't needed to repot my neon as she grew into and effortlessly filled out the large hanging basket I have her in but I just bought a Brazil pothos yesterday (like I don"t already have 12 other plants 😂) and he's a tad too small for the massive baskets that my Home Depot sells so I'm going to have to gradually move him up and let him fill out because I don't want to shock him like I did with my monstera peru. Thanks as always for your vids, Krystal! You inspire me and many others to keep on adopting and nurturing plant babies to expand our families. 😁
Wow you're ripping them apart, I carefully tickled them apart in water, and 4 of the palms I've found dumped in garbage died😢 I hope it's because it was freezing out, and not because I fucked them up. I was trying to save then😢
Did the Palms have aphids or spider mites in the tight spots of the leaves? If the leaves were yellow when you picked them up, that may have been the reason the previous owners may have thrown them out.
You should NEVER EVER water your plants the same day after messing with the roots!! Wait three days to even a week after repotting. The reason being is you give the roots time to heal from any damage you caused ESPECIALLY ripping them into two. If you water log damaged roots you have opened up a world of fungus to settle from the bacteria in the soil on those damaged/broken roots. All roots are semi calloused over and when your ripping them and pulling , you have damaged some of those outer layers. The plant doesn't need water immediately, let the plant settle and the roots settle and get acclimated. I promise you your plant can wait for water and she will thank you for it as well!! ❤❤

How do you prevent the dirt/soil getting out of the pot throught the drain holes?
Take a piece of window screen and place it over the hole in the bottom of the pot before you add the soil to the pot. That prevents the draining of the soil.
How do you keep a pathos so full? Mine usually gets long tendrils and weak unfurl base
