Dude, it wasn't a new plan Thawn had, it was THE plan from the very first time that made Barry finally understand what was about to happen. Thawn had no idea that he was going to kill Barry's mother, his intentions were always to take out young Barry.
I think it was the og time from the first time because it was always his plan too kill barry as a child and he must knew what was coming because he doesn’t seem suprised by the fact that he was stuck again
6:18 Thawne’s plan was always to kill Barry. That’s what he told Cisco in Season 1 before Cisco “died” and in Season 8 during Armageddon, we hear Thawne restate that killing Barry as a child was always his goal. He killed Nora out of frustration that he failed to kill Barry. Great reaction! Excited for next week!
This was awesome! Everything came full circle. It's kind of weird how back in 2014 2023/2024 seemed so far away but now we are here and "future Barry" is now our "present Barry".
Eobard Thawne was actually always there to kill Barry as a child. That was his goal, simce he couldnt beat Barry in his time, he figured erasing Barry from the timeline altogether would do the trick. But Barry saved his younger self, and in his rage, Eobard killed Nora instead, hoping that it would traumatize kid Barry so much that he would never become the Flash. Of course, then Thawne became trapped, and had to create the Flash, leading into Season 1. Thats what Wellsobard says late in Season 1, i think 1x22
This episode was so beautifully done. I’m so happy Barry got to see his parents again and develop as a character. Connecting this episode to the one from 8 years ago is one of the coolest things I’ve seen on tv.
This episode was phenomenal I’m truly happy that they at least put their all into it to make this payoff as the culmination of Barrys character journey.

Joel I'd drop the bullshit*t graphic novel split that Eric Wallace introduced. Because let's be honest on a whole we have to judge a whole season not the weird split separate stories that most border on suck. Also Agents of Shield did this split from season 2 & the cast judge each season rather than the story split.
The final arc is going to be incredible, and a very satisfying end to the show!!! Maybe I’m just an optimistic person, but I just freaking loved this episode, and I’m really hopeful the last three of this show will satisfy and entertain me just like this and last week’s episode did!!!
Chainsaw, Thawne never changed his plans to kill his mom, his original plan always was to kill Barry, but adult Barry ran his younger self out of his house (as we see in this in season 1 and this episode.)
It makes that scene where Barry gets the moments with Nora before her death even more, not sure if it's heartwarming or tragic, because now we know Nora had spent that day with Barry and as she lay dying realized that fact even if the Barry of that moment didn't.
Hey if you go back and watch. There is a scene from season 1 where thawne tells Barry that his plan was to kill him as a child originally. However Barry took his younger self out so Thawne decided to kill his mom instead. So the plan to kill Barry as a child was the original plan all along.
It seems like it if you think about it in this continuity. It could also be barrys mom was the original target and since Thawne seems to know that plan doesn’t work, he has to go after barry instead. Who knows for sure, but it’s possible
This might be a hot take, but this ep is prolly like 100 times better than last episode (not saying 9x09 was bad, it was peak, but this Ep was peaker), and it might just be the single best episode of the entire series.
This episode was amazing & another reference I noticed was in episode 1 of the show first time Barry used his speed he ran into a laundry truck and that was a great reference they did here . & What earth or timeline is that Eddie from and he’s not a Thawne
It was intentional to not do it. We saw from Season 1 Barry’s perspective, so the other flash was blurred. Now we see his perspective. The flash fighting reverse flash was a mystery, now we know which version it was
I did hope they would keep Thawne for the remaining episodes and maybe not have that fateful night until the finale. But it seems that is all we get of Matt. Now it's about Cobalt Blue.
Literally love how everything comes back for circle Also,Nora believing that S1 Barry is her son from the future totally makes sense now (in Henry & Joe's case:it's kind of confusing but it was just a stranger they had met so they probably forgot)
So now Barry has to be transported 170 years into the future to instigate Thawne and get his origin story started and probably looses his powers/ or dies. I think thats why he never comes back .
These are the 2 separate timelines we saw of the night Nora Allen was murdered. I might have got 1 or2 things wrong but I think it's fairly accurate. March 18, 2000 - Original Timeline (pre-Flashpoint, pre-Crisis) In 2024, a fight between the original timeline Flash (the version of Barry that became the Flash in 2020 and has both living parents) and Reverse Flash occurs under Red Skies, Thawne learns Barry’s identity and plans to kill him as a child. The two speedsters fight and disappear in an “explosion of light” The “explosion of light” was actually a dimensional rift opening between 2024 and 2000. Thawne travels back to March 18, 2000, and Barry follows Reverse Flash and Flash tackle each other into the house and fight. An 11-year-old Barry wakes up to screaming and the sound of lightning. He exits his room and sees his mother, Nora Allen, surrounded by red and yellow lightning in the living room. 2013 Flash (S1 Barry) breaks the dimensional barrier and travels back to March 18, 2000, appearing in his childhood bedroom. 2013 Flash opens the door and sees his mother. As he is about to intervene, the original timeline Flash (2024 Barry) sees him and tells him not to. Thawne sees young Barry and makes a move on him. 2024 Barry sees this and grabs his younger self before Thawne can reach him, taking him out of the house. Thawne, angered that he failed. Grabs a Knife and stabs Nora Allen with the intention of creating a tragedy so life-altering that Barry never grows up to become the Flash. 2013 Flash listens to the original timeline Flash and closes the door, letting Thawne stab Nora Allen. After the death of his mother in the past, the original timeline Flash is wiped from existence (either disappearing or electing to sacrifice himself to stop the 2024 crisis before the timeline catches up to him) Thawne runs out of the house and tries to open a breach back to his time, roughly 2 decades from this point, to discover that he has lost his speed and connection to the speed force. S1 Barry enters the living room and speaks to his Mom one more time before she dies The murder of Barry’s mother creates a paradox for Thawne. Without the Flash, Thawne never becomes obsessed with speed. Without speed, Thawne never travels back in time to kill Barry’s mom, creating an endless paradoxical loop. Thawne, trapped in the past, assumes the identity of Harrison Wells to orchestrate the creation of the Flash so he can use his speed to return himself to the future and to allow 2013 Barry to return to the night his mother died and save her. March 18, 2000 - Original Timeline (post-Flashpoint, post-Crisis) S9 Flash (2023) is teleported to March 18, 2000, by a then-unknown force. S9 Flash encounters his parents in the past and is forced into interacting with them by a streak of lighting knocking him unconscious. After spending the day with his parents, S9 Flash runs to a secluded area, overcome with grief, where he encounters the Reverse Flash. The Reverse Flash tells Barry that he didn’t choose to come here but, by a stroke of fate, he was brought here to kill Barry as a child. Barry returns to Nora and Henry Allen one last time to speak to them and get closure. After a fight with a then-unknown force, Barry encounters Thawne on a neighborhood street. Barry attempts to give Thawne one final chance to change for the better, but Thawne laughs in Barry’s face and runs off to Barry’s childhood home to kill him as a child. Barry knows what he needs to do and takes off after him. Reverse Flash and Flash tackle each other into the house and fight. As he is about to intervene, S9 Flash sees him and tells him not to intervene. 2014 Flash (S2) runs back to March 18, 2000 after defeating Zoom, overcome with grief from losing his father. Thawne sees young Barry and makes a move on him. S9 Barry sees this and grabs his younger self before Thawne can reach him, taking him out of the house Thawne grabs a knife and lunges at Nora Allen, however S2 Flash intervenes and prevents Thawne from killing his mother 2013 (S1) Barry reopens the door, seeing his mother alive, and disappears from the timeline. After the events of 3x01, S3 Flash frees Thawne from his hidden prison cell and the two of them travel back to March 18, 2000 for Thawne to finish the job. After knocking out Thawne, S2 Barry looks up to see Thawne in front of him, he looks down and the Thawne he knocked out is gone. The S2 Barry disappears shortly after. Thawne grabs the knife and stabs Nora Allen Thawne runs out of the house and tries to open a breach back to his time, roughly 2 decades from this point, to discover that he has lost his speed and connection to the speed force. S9 Barry approaches Thawne and speaks to him S1 Barry reappears back into the timeline, enters the living room, and speaks to his mom one more time before she dies The murder of Barry’s mother creates a paradox for Thawne. Without the Flash, Thawne never becomes obsessed with speed. Without speed, Thawne never travels back in time to kill Barry’s mom, creating an endless paradoxical loop. After speaking with Thawne, S9 Barry disappears once more, unknown where (as of 9x10) Thawne, trapped in the past, assumes the identity of Harrison Wells to orchestrate the creation of the Flash so he can use his speed to return himself to the future and to allow 2013 Barry to return to the night his mother died and save her. So in total, The original timeline had 3 versions of Barry in the house that night (OG Timeline Flash, S1 Flash, Young Barry) and the New Timeline (post-Flashpoint, post-Crisis) had 5 versions of Barry (S9 Flash, S1 Flash, S2 Flash, S3 Flash, Young Barry) S9 Flash replaced 2024 Flash as the one to stop S1 Flash from saving Nora. the timeline we are on began after Nora died and 2024 Flash was erased. My interpretation was that the timeline was in flux up until Crisis. After the Crisis' date was changed, the timeline was altered so the Flash that stopped S1 Barry was S9 Barry. So, in Pre-Crisis S1, Barry saw the 2024 Flash. In Post-Crisis S1, Barry saw the S9 Flash. How's that for "convoluted"?
Thawnes plan was always to kill Barry as a child but original timeline barry(this seasons Barry) grabbed younger Barry and took off so then thawne just killed Nora instead
When you said he was going to be that flash that stop season one flash from saving his mom I was like dude that is so sick that’s what I was predicting.
As soon as I saw he time traveled back to 2000 I knew he was gonna be future Barry. Such a pleasure to have Matt letscher back as thawne. As much as I love Tom, it really should’ve been Matt this whole time.
Maybe the blue crystal works like the phylosophal stone which was connected to the speedforce and savitar could posses people. Perhaps this works similar but with a little part of the negative speed force contained in the crystal. And yes, finally we got the full circle of RF and future flash closed. One of the best episodes of the show along with the last week one
It was a great episode and I’m glad they gave us that fight, I’ve been wanting to see it for years! And I’m so glad they did just someone who looked like Eddie and not him (I think his name is Malcom like in the comics)
They really pulled out all the stops for this episode. Maybe because they were putting in the work for the final few episodes why the earlier episodes weren't great.
I cannot wait for part 2 which I hear is awesome, I can't wait for part 3 which I hear is even better than that, and I CAN'T WAIT for part 4 which I heard is almost as good as s9e6.
This episode had no right going that hard. Where was this production quality 3-4 episodes ago lmao. Regardless, amazing episode. Hope they stick the landing with the final episodes
i have known that cobalt blue was going to be the final big bad the whole season and im glad that it was rick cosnett playing him his name is malcolm thawn in the comics but he is the long lost brother of barry allen im glad they changed it up if it is still malcolm thawne it makes sense that they would have rick portayed him
@Chainsaw Reacts, with Barry falling into streets& almost getting hit by a car is sorta paying homage to Back to the Future scene with Marty almost getting by Lorraine's dad with Buik or Catallac,ha?.
Gonna be honest, the thing I'm looking foward the most is how people will rewrite this show after it's over. I myself have a few ideas, mainly cutting down the show to only 5 seasons, and throwing most of the supporting cast away. I'd love to see your take.
Could it be possible that that’s a much younger Eobard Thawne and not Eddie? I mean, they are very distant relatives lol. The only other thing it could be is Eddie born at a different time and with a different name in this post-Crisis timeline. I suppose it could also be season 1 Eddie with amnesia that was pulled into the singularity and thrown into the future, but that wouldn’t really explain how he’s some genius scientist lol.
If you take the time and look at the flash from season 1 the one that tell him to save his mother, if you look closely he had on the season 4 flash suit 😂
@Chainsaw Reacts,no one on the comment board& you might notice the Zarara's is DC Comic character easter-egg for this episode,It's the name of Zatana's dad?.
Am I the only one who thought episode 9 didn’t quite hit the mark, even with Oliver, Diggle, and Wally coming back? Like it was great seeing them, especially Wally but I didn’t LOVE the episode. However, I did LOVE this episode. THIS was a Flash episode
We have the Flash from S1, the one from S9 that says no, but isn’t there a 3rd Flash in that room? Also, I think the guy at the end said “ who is Eddie Thawne”, which means he’s not call Eddie? He could he be a “Flash/Barry” from another Universe that wants revenge fur what happ😢 to Eddie?
Thanks plan was to always kill barry but he thought Barry's mom was cause him to be to broken from being the flash if you watch the finally of season one u will hear him say he wanted to kill barry not nora
It was good one thing confused me. In the original paper Barry disappeared in Crisis. We got through Crisis and Barry lived. So now where’s Barry now? Lol
Why was the fight still continuing when season 9 Barry told season 1 barry not to save his Mother? Does that mean that OG barry was there? Maybe an error from the show?
Can someone please explain what happened to Eddie. Why does he have a lab coat, why did he stuck by lightning, why is he alive. Can someone please help me
But am I missing something though? barrys dad seen him in the past, right? So it's like a time loop, I just don't understand, holy crap some looked like my son back when he was 7 years old or he literally forgot about the guy he helped. I might be just over thinking it.
I don’t think that is Eddie… I think it’s Malcolm Thawn If you pause the screen on the name tag at the start his first name is Malcom, with a different last name. I think he may be Eddie’s son, brought up by his mother who never knew his dad.

S9 Flash (2023) is teleported to March 18, 2000, by a then-unknown force.
As he is about to intervene, S9 Flash sees him and tells him not to intervene.
2014 Flash (S2) runs back to March 18, 2000 after defeating Zoom, overcome with grief from losing his father.
Thawne sees young Barry and makes a move on him. S9 Barry sees this and grabs his younger self before Thawne can reach him, taking him out of the house
Thawne grabs a knife and lunges at Nora Allen, however S2 Flash intervenes and prevents Thawne from killing his mother
2013 (S1) Barry reopens the door, seeing his mother alive, and disappears from the timeline.
Thawne grabs the knife and stabs Nora Allen
Thawne runs out of the house and tries to open a breach back to his time, roughly 2 decades from this point, to discover that he has lost his speed and connection to the speed force.
S9 Barry approaches Thawne and speaks to him
S1 Barry reappears back into the timeline, enters the living room, and speaks to his mom one more time before she dies
The murder of Barry’s mother creates a paradox for Thawne. Without the Flash, Thawne never becomes obsessed with speed. Without speed, Thawne never travels back in time to kill Barry’s mom, creating an endless paradoxical loop.
After speaking with Thawne, S9 Barry disappears once more, unknown where (as of 9x10)
Thawne, trapped in the past, assumes the identity of Harrison Wells to orchestrate the creation of the Flash so he can use his speed to return himself to the future and to allow 2013 Barry to return to the night his mother died and save her.
So in total, The original timeline had 3 versions of Barry in the house that night (OG Timeline Flash, S1 Flash, Young Barry) and the New Timeline (post-Flashpoint, post-Crisis) had 5 versions of Barry (S9 Flash, S1 Flash, S2 Flash, S3 Flash, Young Barry)
S9 Flash replaced 2024 Flash as the one to stop S1 Flash from saving Nora. the timeline we are on began after Nora died and 2024 Flash was erased.
This also reveals how Thawne knew about flashpoint in season 3 and what would happen after it how it would create Savitar and stuff like that.
I absolutely love this episode
Great acting from all the cast.
When you said he was going to be that flash that stop season one flash from saving his mom I was like dude that is so sick that’s what I was predicting.
Chainsaw Reacts, I'm glad you enjoyed that episode. It was epic, man.
As soon as I saw he time traveled back to 2000 I knew he was gonna be future Barry. Such a pleasure to have Matt letscher back as thawne. As much as I love Tom, it really should’ve been Matt this whole time.
my prediction is that its Eddie from the original timeline Thawne was from before the show and the NSF chooses him.
And I’m so glad they did just someone who looked like Eddie and not him (I think his name is Malcom like in the comics)
they could tie it up to the singularity that his body got sucked up in and make him be reset and live a whole life in a new world
They really pulled out all the stops for this episode. Maybe because they were putting in the work for the final few episodes why the earlier episodes weren't great.
This is not the original Barry that stopped thawne that one was erased, this Barry ended up taking his place so it can remained fixed
Finally this episode felt the episodes from flash s1 - s3.
I cannot wait for part 2 which I hear is awesome, I can't wait for part 3 which I hear is even better than that, and I CAN'T WAIT for part 4 which I heard is almost as good as s9e6.
where are u hearing these things?!?!
almost good as 9x06 🤨 I smell the mystery here 🗿
This episode had no right going that hard. Where was this production quality 3-4 episodes ago lmao. Regardless, amazing episode. Hope they stick the landing with the final episodes
I’m still hoping we see Cisco
i have known that cobalt blue was going to be the final big bad the whole season and im glad that it was rick cosnett playing him his name is malcolm thawn in the comics but he is the long lost brother of barry allen im glad they changed it up if it is still malcolm thawne it makes sense that they would have rick portayed him
Y’all gonna be faked out that Malcom is Eddie lol
His plan was always to kill Barry
@Chainsaw Reacts, with Barry falling into streets& almost getting hit by a car is sorta paying homage to Back to the Future scene with Marty almost getting by Lorraine's dad with Buik or Catallac,ha?.
Awesome episode. I was 16 years old in 2000.
It was probably the final villain of the final season cobalt blue that sent barry back
It's honestly not surprising that you loved this episode haha.
After nine years it finally happened
Gonna be honest, the thing I'm looking foward the most is how people will rewrite this show after it's over. I myself have a few ideas, mainly cutting down the show to only 5 seasons, and throwing most of the supporting cast away.
I'd love to see your take.
it was the negative speed force taking hold of joe
We all saw how 2023-24 was a bit far away, and now we're here.
If you take the time and look at the flash from season 1 the one that tell him to save his mother, if you look closely he had on the season 4 flash suit 😂
my theory is from the vanish in Crisis newspaper what if that blue light behind Barry is cobalt blue blasting him while Barry chase after Thawne.
I just googled a pic of the newspaper…holy shit i think you’re right
@Chainsaw Reacts one difference. Future barry didn't vibrate like in season 1.if this happened in season 10 been perfect 2024
Now that the episode is over I'm wondering if it was someone else just the whole time who Take the identity of Eddie thawn??
Best episode since season 2
@Chainsaw Reacts,no one on the comment board& you might notice the Zarara's is DC Comic character easter-egg for this episode,It's the name of Zatana's dad?.
@11:05 the yellow, red and blue beakers on the that shelf ruined what happened next. such a shame.
Man, you just keep talking about this episode..... I came here for an update on the baseball score.
I always disappoint.
It was good one thing confused me. In the original paper Barry disappeared in Crisis. We got through Crisis and Barry lived. So now where’s Barry now? Lol
Norah changed it in season 5
loved isn't right word at least for me. this was 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Maybe that crystal was savatar???
I thought it might've been Pollux
So let’s me get this straight. Is the Barry who fights thawne at the end, the same Barry who gestures to 2014 Barry to not stop his mothers death?
Yes
Why was the fight still continuing when season 9 Barry told season 1 barry not to save his Mother? Does that mean that OG barry was there? Maybe an error from the show?
Flash time
Good Episode 😀
8:08 Kratos West?
Can someone please explain what happened to Eddie. Why does he have a lab coat, why did he stuck by lightning, why is he alive. Can someone please help me
Got the ending
But am I missing something though? barrys dad seen him in the past, right? So it's like a time loop, I just don't understand, holy crap some looked like my son back when he was 7 years old or he literally forgot about the guy he helped. I might be just over thinking it.
@11:32 we can't see the name on that security badge ...
Good point
@8:04 the size of the hole in the wall annoys me somehow.
I don’t think that is Eddie… I think it’s Malcolm Thawn
If you pause the screen on the name tag at the start his first name is Malcom, with a different last name. I think he may be Eddie’s son, brought up by his mother who never knew his dad.
2 solid episodes with no much focusing on the annoying side cast they should have used this structure for the entire show....
Holy. Shit. Nuff said
Yes

Chester should've known better to not create an awful "suit"
is this suppoused to happen in 2024?
Screw Wallace for giving us such bad 8 episodes & than giving us back to back banger
Waited
