- When we visit Tennessee there is ONE tradition that must be observed by the McCuiston men... in this video we expand on that tradition with a day trip to Windrock Park, a 72,000 acre off-road park with 300 miles of trails located in Oliver Springs, Tennessee.
Steal the keys, hop in, and ride along as we "test" the GX a bit alongside my brother's 4Runner and make our way to the ultimate destination; hopefully without any damage to Mama Bear's rig on the way!

I've got that same arb air kit. Last summer I followed that Lexus up a mountain trail with my 4runner and I was quite impressed.

I watched this one year ago to wet my appetite for my own GX.. I finally got my satisfaction yesterday, a 2017 Gx460 with only 20k miles. These rigs are truly awesome 👌🏿. Wonderful vid btw!!

An idea for your 4Runner is do a 3M Wrap. It would rock! If your 4Runner and Turtleback would match. I love the way you use the topo map look 👀 with the map elevation lies. Watching your channel I really want to get back into 4x4. The whole time me and my wife dated we went 4x4 every weekend in Colorado. It was a gutless 4 cylinder Izuze Trooper but man did we have a blast! Funny while in New Mexico a group of friends after a big rain we’d go mudding. What a blast! I still don’t know the way to go, Jeep or 4Runner? I’m 6’3” and the 4Runner seems to have less leg room. I’ll have to go shopping check it out.
Hi Guys,
In Australia we have the Prado as opposed to the Lexus. The Prado is somewhat more subdued in shape and does not have the “bells and whistles” of the Lexus. We don’t get the option of the V8 petrol rather we get a 4 cylinder 2.8 litre turbo diesel. There is no petrol option although this has been offered in the past. The GX and GXL models can be optioned with a manual 6 speed transmission. You can also option the vehicle with or without a rear door mounted spare tyre. With the rear mounted tyre you get a 150 litre fuel capacity, without 87 litres.
Probably more popular here, because of its towing capacity, is the Landcruiser which now is only offered as a 4.5 litre V8 bi-turbo diesel. The “grey nomad” caravan towers just love them.
We had a Kaymar rear bar fitted to our Landcruiser. It worked very well. Best wishes with the build. Watching you plough through all that water made us a little envious. Not much water out this way at the moment!

That's a pretty good shot of the KDSS in action. I know it gives an extra 10cm of travel in the TLC but I haven't been able to find a published number on the 5thGen T4R or the GX470 or 460. I love how sharp it makes the 4Runner on road and how it smooths out washboards to boot.
Love seeing that GX in action. I take my old LX470 off-road and it's great.

@@LifestyleOverland I read the IH8Mud buying guide on the 470 and I'm helping one friend buy one of those while another is looking at the GX460. Any specific things you learned to look out for - for example, in the 470, the engine changes as you get newer, the KDSS is only in the Sport version of those, the rear adjustable air shocks often go about 75K & are easily replaced with T4R/FJ components & you have to remember it's a timing belt - plus things like try to get one without Nav so the HVAC is separate. I can wait for the video. I intend to use it as a primer for hime (& an inducement)!

I enjoy the Tennessee videos, because the terrain and scenery are almost identical to here in Missouri.
Lexus next to 4Runner looks some much nicer, them KM3s differently give it an edge; and that’s coming from a 4Runner owner.

I have constantly have the battle whether to go to the effort to film our camping trips, going away with a family 5 of us I have opted to be present to experience the trips however always interested in editing process!

You should see if you could borrow/beg/steal a Tokina 11mm-16mm F2.8 ATX PRO DX II - stabilization is good (enough) for video and is available for Cannon and Nikon - you'll love the space the lens creates across the shot without that 'wide angle' obvious keyholing. Don't be surprised by its budget friendly price (even used!) - it is a dark horse lens that goes everywhere with me. As always,great content - and YES I'd love a camera/lens/editing video (or series!) from you!

Speaking of east side of the Mississippi wheeling have you all ever thought about the Kentucky adventure tour? I just recently heard about it and it looks like a blast.
Pretty sure there is a small group going to do the whole trip in March if you are interested. Starting out in Jellico, TN and taking 5 days to complete the circle. Saw it on Overland Bound site earlier this year.
my rigs not quite set up enough yet....still need bumpers, sliders and a big winch... main focus sliders and big winch seeing as I have a Suburban...

Dope video and great content again! I kinda feel you on the Lexus this time...great capabilities off roading and comfort at the same...but, the big v8/gas guzzler is the down side. Same handicap as my Landcruiser, comfort, power etc..but damn gas is crazy!!

What do you run for wheels and tiers on your GX, and does it have a lift kit on the Lexus in this video.

Would love more details on the suspension, and how you came to the conclusion that the wheel and tire setup would fit with minor trimming. Does Icon have a lift solution for vehicles with the air lift rear?

So do you guys follow the manual and fill the tank exclusively with premium unleaded or do you fill up 87 and work the ECU real hard in order to prevent knocking?
c K The smart thing to do is use premium. If you can afford a luxury vehicle you can usually afford the extra $5 per tank.
