- The Huawei Mate X3 and Huawei P60 Pro are two smartphones with unique, awesome hardware. I got the chance to play with the phones briefly at Huawei's flagship store in Shanghai.

Mate X3 is an engineering marvel. To have all those features in such a small package is astonishing
Huawei have to sacrifice speaker quality, there is only a tradeoff somewhere

Huawei has been the forefront of technology for quite a while. Both in hardware and 5G. The ban may have stagnated their growth but never stopped them. Just goes to show how much faster they've able to grow in a short amount of time.
the ban only affected hardware and software with US patent but other companies are still supporting huawei without disclosing it to the public. Like seagate and samsung which are caught selling memory chips and and patents to huawei respectively.

My wife and me bought P60 Pros as soon as they came out, maybe month and a half ago, here in SZ. Works like a charm.
Is it possible to use Google apps with it?
@@MrRodrigo1250 Ofc not and I don't care about Google. I've not been using Google nor their services for over 7years now.

They will be the biggest selling smartphone brand in the world. At one time, they are already number one until the US banned.

@@ogumbaanthony3105 Huawei 5G network infrastructure, banning US spies on other mainly its ally countries. Then Huawei is a national security. Of course, USA also fear a fair competition with China in terms of technology and science.

Before the ban, Huawei was my go-to Android device. Politics interfering with tech is disappointing, and I suspect that the US saw Huawei rising to number one and stepped in. I can live without Google; having used HarmonyOS for a while, I know it is smooth and refined. With the high demand, I doubt this will come to the UK, but they currently sell the Mate Xs, so there is hope. Clearly, the X3 is a class above the Fold4 and we await Samsung's response in a few months...
Honestly i dont think Samsung will do much on the hardware. I think they will cont to bet on their after sales service, optimized software n product availability world wide. They know these are the main buying factors for their Fold series. The question is for how long?
Ohhh really wish Huawei would allow bootloader unlocking and release the kernel sources. The custom rom community would step up and help the global people out with gms roms. Great hands on with the new phones!
Hear hear. We could also really use some functional GCams or other options.
Newer Huaweis are getting even less compatible with third party apps like Open Camera...

It is mind boggling to me that Huawei have delivered yet another Blow🤛 to Samsung in the hardware department! The mate X3 looks stunning with no crease and an ip rating! And The P60 pro seems like a camera beast! Great first impressions Ben👍

I hope you do an in-depth versus "battle" between the Z Fold 4 and the Vivo X Fold 2.
I'm considering importing the Vivo X Fold 2 for use in the U.S. but the app optimization for foldables are what I want to know more about on the X Fold 2.
Also, I heard that the Vivo removed the periscope zoom camera which is VERY disappointing if true.

The mate x3 is gorgeous, I would get the P60 Pro even without GMS, those are always gorgeous phones and hold up well.
Huawei really does good hardware especially cameras!
Both phones are amazing! For some, the deal breaker is the google services, but I think nowadays it can be sideloaded?

woow 😍 with that thickness it's like a normal phone, the battery is big enough, bezels are thin. Being a foldable skeptic I might actually try it, I like their software too 👍 I'm pretty sure there will be a way to ad GMS on it
I was this close to buying Z fold 4 then Mix fold 2 came, and I'm glad I waited. Also, Mix Fold 2 hinge stays open at certain angles but you have to open it fully and then fold it to the desired position. It doesn't have that extreme angles but you could get between 45° to 110°.

Mate awesome video considering you were limited to the room! Yeah the mate X3 looks like it would absolutely destroy other foldables hardware wise, very impressive piece of engineering. The P60 pro looks a little underwhelming to me to be honest? I dunno I was just expecting something more crazy with the camera 😅 but I'm sure it's still gonna be a beast. Be interesting to see how they are priced in the UK!

Huawei ended up proving me right, I always said that the Fold 4's problem was not the size, but the ratio of its external screen, which had to be at least 20/9,which by the way would have made it possible to refine the thickness of the Fold, add a larger battery 🔋 (4700-4800 mAh) and better photo sensors.
I have no words to praise this masterpiece 🥰🥰

Outta blue, just adding it up, I'm using the Mate X3 international version so i installed Light house, Every Google apps including android auto works on Light house right now on the Mate X3. Also the Push notifications works flawlessly if power saving disable on apps. The only thing not supports is banking apps and Assistant as of my testing.
Incredible phone, amazing cameras.

Here in malaysia they did preview event for p60 & mate x3 and i surprised that mate x3 run emui 13 got all google stuff that i need work in it like gmail,youtube,gdrive. Will definitely get one once launch

I woke up when you said "about 180 gram's". That is incredibly light weight for a flagship and extremely pocketable.
Impressive the Mate X3! This is the first foldable that makes me say that word...😅 As owner of P30 Pro, well... I'd be curious to know how performs the P60 Pro in its camera department and as battery phone. Too bad Huawei mixed themselves in that international mess... I'm very happy with my Huawei phone and I would love to buy another one in the future, but I guess I won't...also because their policy of prices ain't better than the competition. I paid my P30 Pro only 549€ after 10 months, I bargain price I will never be able to find in the future. Well, if I found the P60 Pro at 600€ within 10 months, I probably would buy it, using the gimmick to install Google Services. But it's beyond impossible. Thanks Ben and looking forward for a full coverage of both phones, especially the camera modules.
I had the Mate X2, camera was terrible so I bought the Xiaomi Fold 2 and LOVE IT. I'd absolutely get the Mate X3 with those insane cameras but no longer care for having to sideload Google apps. I love how Xiaomi is "camera first, phone second".

Off-top question, but are you planning to do a video about new meizu phones? There are almost no reviews about them, especially non-chinese ones. I'm just curious what they did in this series and how comfortable to use they are with only chinese rom.

I was a long time fan of Huawei and did not bother because of missing Google services in my mate xs. But sadly I had a little accident in February and the display was damaged.
So I am desperately seeking for a new foldable phone.
But I think the vivo x fold 2 will be my next phone.
So I'm looking forward for your video about the vivo x fold 2!
The video recording is as good as an iPhone 11 or later? Because P series are above of the iPhones in every aspect except video recording

Since adapting my workflow to adjust to life without Google, it's fine. I transfer files via Adobe Creative Cloud and Huawei Share, and no problem mailing or navigating. My only real gripe is the lack of Android Auto.
Really curious how the tele on the P60 Pro compares to the Mate 50 Pro, as we're pretty sure by this point that it's the 64MP sitting at 2.8x zoom (or thereabouts) cropped in to 3.5x. Eagerly awaiting your full review!

This is the first foldable that caught my attention. Sadly the Huawei' s are very expensive here in Germany and of course there are these issues with Google Apps.

I knew Huawei always came out with the best hardware, but most of their products now are more expensive to buy. Let's consider a phone which has no Google Services and 5G, but sells at a bit higher price than the others... I'm a big fan of Huawei for 10 years already and I'm using a Huawei Watch and Huawei Bud, and 2 Huawei P30 Pros.
The United States uses national security as an excuse to suppress Huawei's development (in fact, Huawei's network has no back door, which is not convenient for the United States to monitor). As a result, Huawei's parts need to be developed and customized separately, and the cost rises.

Huawei cool phones, in my opinion the most reliable ... I used Mate 20 pro, P30, P30 pro, Mate 30 pro, P40, p40 pro, and now I'm back to P30 pro again and I don't see a worthy replacement for it...

Man i want the Mate X3 very badly. I Heard that they were going to release it in Europe by bundling it with an app called Lighthouse that gives acess to google apps. I wonder if that is really the case. This would be my dream phone. Even without google apps I will probably still import it once the price goes down a little.

I really hope they don't go with a center punchhole for the Mate 60 series. I'd love for Huawei phones to loose their "front side identity" too, like P series did :( Don't get me wrong tho, those phones are so amazing tho! I really love the P60 series, but since I switched from P to Mate series, I really can't drop the mate due to M-Pen2 support and the screen tap volume control :D Can't wait for the new Mate 60 Pro
