Concrete Road Advantages
The biggest benefit of concrete road construction is the longevity. Lasting 20-40 years on average, paving in concrete can boast two to four times the lifespan of asphalt.
Concrete, it may surprise you to know, is recyclable. Once crushed into gravel, concrete can be used in a variety of ways.
High truck volume is better suited to concrete roads, as they hold up better under the weight and pressure. This sturdy surface is less prone to dips and rutting, meaning it is a favorite for freeway construction.
Though not immune to the freeze-thaw cycle, concrete is more resistant. Where asphalt tends to embrittle over time, concrete is more hearty.
Concrete tends to be a greener material. Producing it creates less environmental pollution, and cars run with better fuel efficiency on concrete. Concrete is also produced from limestone, which is widely available.
Concrete Disadvantages
Though concrete lasts a long time, repairing it is a bigger chore. Holes or cracks can't be simply patched--instead, entire slabs must be replaced.
Concrete doesn't always make for a smooth ride, either. In order to create enough grip on the road, texture is brushed into the surface. This, and slabs settling over time, can make for a somewhat bumpy and noisy roadway.
The costs of concrete roads are also higher than that of asphalt, both in installation and repair.
Concrete is not as "grippy" as asphalt, either. Spills, vehicle chemicals, and other pollutants do not absorb into concrete as well as asphalt. This material is also more prone to slippage during rain or snow.
Advantages of Asphalt Roads
Asphalt has an attractive price point, even as prices have slowly begun to creep up over time. Like concrete, asphalt is 100% recyclable. When melted down, it can be used again to create new roadways.
New asphalt is quieter than concrete. Though it creates a smooth drive, it also boasts better traction and skid resistance.
Since asphalt is black, it utilizes the natural heat from the sun to help keep the roads clear after storms. Heat absorbing into asphalt creates an ideal atmosphere for snow melt and moisture evaporation.
Asphalt is ideal for rural roadways because of the ease of maintenance and repair. Budgeting for small roadway repairs or patching is much simpler and faster than replacing entire slabs of roadways on less heavily trafficked areas such as country roads.
Disadvantages
The process of melting asphalt creates greenhouses gasses, which contribute to environmental pollution. This happens regardless of new production or recycling.
Asphalt is a cheaper and faster solution for short-term projects, but the repairs are sometimes just as extensive as concrete. With only a 10-year lifespan, asphalt must be re-laid or repaired on a much more regular basis.Copyright Related Issue Please Contact

no one is talking about how fast roads are made, about 34km per day, thats so good.
total bakwas. the idiot who made the video does not say asphalt roads break down within 2 years and even best quality in 10 years.
Concrete made lasts 100 - 200 years if made well with no erosion in the sides.
so building 34 km per day of worthless roads is big scam run by corrupt babus, contractors so they can keep rebuilding same roads ever 3 - 12 years.
If road lasts 100 years or more than all the road work will end within 10 - 15 years.
Even if cost of concrete id 1.5 times higher but lifespan is 10 times higher. so cost saving is 85% lower
during the lifespan with concrete.
But tax payers are ignorant so this scam has been running since independence.
British time built cement roads are still holding strong with minor cracks in sides (2% of road area) that can be easily corrected.
with tar roads you have to build entire road again and again as road develops pits all over the roads

Well I live in mountanious region but from my experience Asphalt roads are slippery, in winter ,damages easily through water not durable for landslides etc but easy to make ,repair ,low budget ,smooth rides ,good for instand stopping Through the use of brakes...

Great work by Mr. Nitin Gadkari, increasing road construction. We have such a huge mountains of plastic trash. Plastic, a petroleum derivative, ought to have been blended with bitumen, in this case asphalt, for more durable roads. Plastic, especially single use would be greatly recycled. Concrete is rough! Asphalt for city the best. Decisions must include environmental sustainability, as vehicles though necessary, cause pollution.

Himmatnagar- Naroda highway is being constructed with thermal power plants waste product ash. As I live in gandhinagar these highway is very close to my location. Once I asked the engineer that what is that gray material. He replied it's ash. Those who don't know thermal power plant waste( ash) is not being used insted it is being dumped away from cities in holes or left open in atmosphere. Ash waste is so big problem. So they used that ash in road making. If you think I am lying you can ceck on internet.
Does weather have any say in material used on roads because upper half patch of Delhi-Mumbai expressway will be made using Asphalt and the remaining gujrat to Mumbai section will be made using concrete?
By laying an asphalt seal coating on Concrete road top can it's texture problem be tackled? I think this will improve the riding comfort.

Asphalt roads is better than Concrete roads because its cheap( because it takes less time to built it), smooth, highly strong. And also government don't need much money to built roads. According to my perspective Asphalt roads are the best.
But less reliable and produce harmful gasses while making and damage easily compared to concrete
