- If you are accused of driving with a suspended license, you probably shouldn't show up to a virtual court hearing while driving.
That is exactly what happened during one hearing in Washtenaw County, Michigan earlier this month -- and the judge couldn't hide his shock.
When the defendant Corey Harris connected via Zoom, he could be seen behind a wheel. He even said that he was pulling up to his doctor's office.

Me too because a judge had rescinded the suspension and it just never got to the secretary of states office. So his license was not suspended

Yes you are correct to say his license was not suspended. Because he never had a license! You can’t suspend something that didn’t exist. His whole sob story was about his driving privilege. At face value; driving privilege and drivers license sound they are the same thing but they are not. He tried creating a narrative that the system failed and mass of people were quick to believe him

According to the WXYZ website, his license was suspended for unpaid child support. He didn’t drive on a red light. He didn‘t drink and drive. He just didn‘t pay child support.
There are like drivers driving on the wrong lane or drinking while driving and ya‘ll are just taking someone’s license for not paying child support?
Yeah that's bullshit if that was the reason it was suspended, but even so he needs to follow the law as far a suspended licenses are concerned anyway. Child support shouldn't be a thing unless both parents decided to have the kid or were married.

Honestly the judge seemed cool as hell. He was sort of rolling with the dude showing up driving, which depending on the state could have been considered a crime even with a license. Regardless, there are a lot of judges that would have been immediately hostile he wasn't ready to go out the rip and let him park before he began. The judge didn't really turn terse until he realized what the crime was (also that he was repeating it literally during the trial) and even then he stayed calm. I've stood trial for judges that were quick to anger, and I'd have loved to have this judge, especially doing something so monumentally buffoonish as to repeat my crime in front of a judge and prosecutors.
He has to be slow.

Update: he is allowed to drive but the court didnt know that or recieved the lift. He didnt go to jail but he was put there for several days for no reason.
New update: it turns out his sob story that the system messed up was not accurate. He never had a license, ever. He deserves whatever punishment he gets and more now for trying to create a false narrative
