Wilson's about the only character that has no downsides. He has a beard which is basically a pure upside, as it gives sanity and beard hair when shaved, and makes him take longer to freeze. It does cause him to heat up faster in summer, but again, you can shave it.
Don’t be fooled, despite her weakness to winter she actually has the easiest winter start due to two factors: Her lighter allows her to burn things for warmth right away, and is more efficient then a torch (if you join in winter there is a good chance the twigs and grass near spawn are picked already, so this is invaluable) Bernie is an insulating item when equipped, so you actually start with winter gear and will freeze slower then a character with no items... so more time to properly equip for winter. She also has easiest summer start for obvious reasons. Honestly because Bernie now covers her biggest weakness willow essentially has no downsides

I found out after some torch-wielding guard decided to fight a treeguard. Good thing I had flingo nearby.
