    i streamed the album twice. I think the problem with Normani specifically is dancing ( which is what she is great at) isn’t what we’re getting. I think people are tired of begging. We have to beg for physicals (vinyls and Cd’s), beg to see her perform, and now we have to beg for music videos to see her dance? or even just to see NORMANI. The album was good, but why does her fanbase have to beg for things that should already be available? Plus the fanbase can’t even hype up Normani because we only have 3 music videos in the span of 6 years. Nobody is going to want to hear about how good wildside and motivation dance routines are anymore.

And she could still have done a iPhone/lofi cute dance video with behind the scenes footage. She could have filmed it herself if she was hungry for it. With a few dance friends. For free. But she likes to chill.

    I want to just say something, everyone please use normani as an example (including me) sometimes the best thing you can do is to GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY!!! Put your fears, put your pride, stop waiting for the right moment, let go of being a perfectionist and get out of your way. Alot of times, we sabotage our own success rather we feel like we don't deserve it or it goes against our Integrity but we all need to remember that each door that opens for us are chance to get the experience that we need to before we go on our next adventure.
    This is something we all struggle with but we all need to be reminded to do. We all have our unique calling and shouldn't feel ashamed to get to our calling. Stop trying to fight where life is pushing you to go because you are going to get there one way or another. It better to a smooth sailing then to get shipwrecked because you didn't want the sea of life to guide you.
    Please get out of your way and step into your success!

    I think 2 things happened here. Number 1, Normani and her team waited to long to put the album out. It should've come out after either Motivation or Wild Side. I think people just got sick and tired of waiting and moved on to something else. Number 2, Normani doesn't really have a strong fanbase. Please support Normani! For those who keep asking about her music video for Candy Paint: if you're willing to help pay for the music video then please by all means do so because RCA sure as heck isn't going to do it. Normani had to spend over $1 million of her own money to pay fund the Wild Side music video: in a time when the average American couldn't even afford $1000 for rent because she believed in it. People do not believe when we say Black Women are truly SABOTAGED in the music industry. Producing an album is NOT CHEAP: people charge about $50K to $200K per song hence why it took her some time because she is doing this all by herself all while supporting her parents who were suffering from cancer. Meanwhile RCA invested millions into Tate Mcrae's music career, used black contemporary culture and marketed it to the masses for profit.

    It’s not enough to make good music, many artists have good music and their careers go nowhere. What separates the ‘haves’ from the ‘have nots’ is branding/marketing. Releasing an album with no hit single in the market after having lost all commercial momentum was always a strategy for *failure.*
    And as for the fans… Normani fans needed to mobilise and purchase rather than stream. I’m shocked all this hype around Normani on social media and we can’t get 20-30 thousand people to log on to iTunes and purchase? Streaming to support isn’t enough because, one sale equals 1500 streams (and I doubt Normani fans streamed songs from Dopamine 1500 times this past week). K-pop fandoms know how to mobilise. That’s why K-pop idols tend to chart so well on their opening week.

    I've said this before and I'll say it again...until she fires her whole team and gets a better team of WRITERS, PROMOTERS, & A MANAGER that knows wtf they are doing Normani will continue to tank. HER MUSIC IS BORING. Her vocals aren't the strongest...but that's OKAY! You dont need to have the best vocals in the industry to make it--your $h*t just needs to sound CATCHY to the MASSES. I honestly believe that if you can make someone as tone deaf as SELENA GOMEZ into a star that sells millions, then there is hope for Normani. But the thing about Selena was, she had a team that could craft the perfect songs (for her weak vocals) that weren't boring to listen to. If Normani doesn't learn this soon & re-vamp her team, then she honestly needs to just let this dream of being a musician go and try her hand at acting/modeling instead.

      @@RA984U honestly, it's not even a laziness factor. She really is TRYING....the end result just SUCKS. That's the problem. Literally look at Adele, Bruno Mars, Beyonce, Ed Sheeran...these are artists that you could also call "lazy" based off of your categorization/definition. They literally go into hibernation for YEARS and barely ever interact with their fans via social media (they don't go live, they don't talk to fans, and they are rarely online). But when they drop an album, it sells like hotcakes because their songs are CATCHY, SONICALLY INTERESTING, AND EVERYONE CAN PRACTICALLY GROVE TO THEIR MUSIC. Normani has yet to write music that can entice every race (blacks, whites, asians, latinos, etc....a WHOLE AUDIENCE). The goal is to write music that is GLOBALLY SUCCESSFUL. Normani, with the team she has, fails to do that every time. Motivation was a move in the right/better direction...but even that wasn't a strong enough (SOLO) song to quite get her there.

    I definitely feel sorry for her because the album was fine and deserved at least top20 debut. The reason it flopped was that all hype and attention she ever had is now gone. I understand she had personal issues and most likely also some label issues that prevented her to release the album but she still could´ve worked to keep the momentum and people interested in her. All of this could´ve been avoided. What i would do is to release 3 EP´s between her debut collaborations (2018-19) and Dopamine (2024). 1st EP: Motivation (2019), 2nd EP: Wild Side (2021), 3rd EP: Candy Paint (2023). Each EP would be around 5 songs with these 3 songs being the lead singles. Even though it´s not much it´s something and it would keep people interested. Throughout these 5 years between Motivation and Dopamine i would also release collaborations with different artists, like for example It It Ain´t Me with Dua Lipa - originally this Dua´s song was a collaboration between her and Normani but then Normani´s team took her from the track and Dua decided to release the solo version. I would just do everything to make sure i´m releasing a single or collaboration or something every 3-4 months. I would also be little more active on social media or tried to find some other way to build a strong connection with my fanbase.
    Dopamine´s rollout also should´ve went differently: She should´ve released the lead single along with the album announcement back in february and then the 2nd single around May. I would make sure to release music videos along with the songs and perform them because Normani´s visual, dancing and performance skills are what sets her apart from many people in the industry.
    There were so many songs on the album that could´ve made the first 2 singles and it would´ve worked better than how it did originally.
    I´m not saying Normani would be a number 1 superstar in the world or selling millions of records but if she managed her career like i wrote in this comment she could debut with 50k like nothing and most likely with even much higher numbers.
    I truly hope Dopamine´s chart performance won´t discourage her to keep making music and trying her best. She´s very talented and she deserve to succeed.

Black people love because they knew what she could do vocal from being in the church. That's why black people booed her back then and called her a sale out and she took a more rnb approach on her third album which she again fought Clive Davis to do. Motivation was fantastic . Great song , great video gorgeous girl that was just what she needed to catapult herself to stardom. But what did Normani do ?…..nothing .

    Her album could be great but she’s gone stale it’s too late she should hang it up and do something else she’s left it too long .
    As for her fan base it doesn’t actually exist . Hype online is basically a part of the black
    Community who say Normani is great because she’s black. Not only black but blacker than the other main girls ( Nikki , Beyoncé ) so they like her based on that purely . Not the art she actually produces . It’s fake hype in my opinion . Even the singers that do ballads, sad and chill songs show their personalities like Adele. Sometimes I wonder if she is an introvert but I am not even sure. We don't know anything about her, we can only speculate. She could easily go live on social media to create a fanbase. But she doesn't. I don't know what happened to her but I don't understand the way she manages her career.

    not to glaze but i was watching another youtuber who makes content a lot like urs a couple hours ago and she touched briefly on the whole normani situation. i'm all for people voicing their honest opinions but hate when those opinions don't have logical reasoning behind them and are just to hate. (majority of twitter users) i srsly hated the way she voiced her opinion. she started shaming normani for having low album sales and said that she was comparing herself too much to beyonce and was overhyping herself which was honestly wild to me because of how WRONG that take was. it was her FANS who were comparing her to beyonce and overhyping her and she herself said that the beyonce comparisons were making her insecure. a lot of creators who make content like urs tend to be over opinionated and call these celebrities mean names just because they're not a fan of them and in the long run end up sounding ridiculous when i try to watch their videos. On the other hand, even when ur criticizing a celeb's actions, artistry etc, you still sound respectful and say things that I can actually agree with and that's why i really enjoy ur content. 🎀 not to glaze tho

    Well, she didn't do anything to anybody but her only live performance without back track was a disaster...because she doesn't have Aaliya or Beyonce voice. Perhaps it was a bad day but the damage is done. Plus she began her career in pop and that is the problem. Because coming back with Rn'B is difficult, the public of Rn'B is more difficult to win. And normally, is the other way around : some artist being with Rn'B strongly and built a strong fan base with this public and then make a crossover with more pop songs without alienating the Rn'B public. But Armani had first and foremost a pop fan base because she came from pop music and now winning the Rn'B public is complicated and most of her pop fans won't follow her there. Plus the constant comparison to other artists is hurting her, it doesn't let her find herself, her own personality. With her first single we could see the a certain air of Beyoncé, the her second single was more Ariana Grande (even the back vocals where from Arianna). See here is already a problem, she became independent, made a first single more Rn'B and the a second one pop, etc. Then years latter an album. There was too many changes of style, too much hype, too much time...and for me she hasn't found herself completely yet. Hope she does in future albums.

    I just can’t wait til the fans know their place again. It’s not our job to worry about these ppls sales. It’s our job to consume and support if that’s what you chose to do. We don’t have a special data basis where we’re plugging in the numbers. Y’all be talking the sales, more than yall help with the sales and that’s backwards as hell. If you got the energy to talk about numbers and data you personally can’t do anything with, I hope you’re the same person to actually buy whatever it is you’re talking about. If you care about sales so much, you should have no problem putting your money towards the sales. Let the executives do their job and please let’s start just giving real reviews on music again. I’m bout tired of fans reporting on numbers with no mention of how the music sounded to them. I miss those times where ppl described the way a song or body of work sonically sounds, rather than tryna be an executive on their couches 🤦🏾‍♀️

    • @str8faxx
      @str8faxx  5 місяців тому +6

      Well if the executives and everyone at the top were doing their jobs with the artists there wouldn't be anything for the consumers who listen to the musicians to analyze....
      We are talking about mainstream artists there's a lot involved in being considered a mainstream artist I don't like the idea of pretending certain realities don't exist and that we aren't allowed to talk about them seems a little delusional to me.
      Sure a lot of people aren't "executives" but how do you presume a lot of these people at the top got there to begin with ? Maybe being analytical but that's just me.
      Doing that doesn't mean not enjoying the music 😭❤️

    • @Waters..
      @Waters.. 5 місяців тому +2

      @@str8faxx you’re responding to a half point. My point is simple. People talk about the numbers more than they’re listening to the music and taking it in, then giving us how they felt about the music, what it sounds like, etc. we can talk about the numbers but the half stepping journalism when it comes to music, is partial reason why we’re getting microwavable music along with other things. We’re not even telling artist anymore whether we like their music other than if it’s “trash”, which is not helpful to them. They need more than that. I see some of yall still giving actual reviews, but the majority of the media will keep the conversation at the numbers, and you leave their video, pages, blogs, not really gaining insight on how a body of work sounded, made them feel because as the consumer. Whether execs they’re doing their jobs or not, that has nothing to do with our ability to really take the music in, and talk about it in a well rounded form.

I don’t think normani wants to be a music star either, she has the looks and stage presence and can work her vocals but she just isn’t passionate about music, or else she would’ve been so much more commited to it. You can’t deliver an album 8 years later she is no rihanna level for people to wait so long. And she is not into it, she went away cwred for her family and it was understandable but then she appears on people’s video and collabs but she can show up to her own music? I feel like she wants the celebrity life and friendship and acquantainces but without putting in work at least for singing, she just likes dancing so much more and is really passionate about that

    I don’t think people were clowning her album but they were more disappointed with the outcome. Camila’s songs that had been released for C, Xoxo had been ass. Even though I will check it out. I’m not looking for to it!.. They give no substance or any kind of creativity at all. I think Dopamine was a very solid album. I don’t think it was Normani’s best album but she had songs on there that were very similar in some places. Lights On is my favorite on the album along with Insomnia. Never trust any of those stan accounts they bring so much negativity and drama. Especially starting beef’s.. As for me I think Normani’s album was very solid and you have some moments on it that were enjoyable!.. I even did a review on it. Even gave it a 6 / 10. I think the problem that Normani is having is that she is not being active on social media. Yes RCA had been terrible. I feel like if Normani went on TikTok and did some dances. It really could have helped to get the songs noticed. She has not done anything to make this album interesting. Not one live performance or one dance on TikTok. I think it’s just like she said. Here’s the album “Girl bye” If you are not going to be consistent and be active? People will not care. It doesn’t matter if it’s the label or the artist. You gonna stay consistent. Her fans are also to blame. If you are saying you love Normani? Then actually stream, buy the songs and album. Don’t say you will support and not do anything.. Normani having no physical copies out doesn’t help either. I would actually buy one for my CD collection. People complain because she’s not getting album sales and streams. That is more of a you problem. I can only do so much!..

The only one I saw was that she was on Zach Sang Show and that is great but not enough. Is also weird to not have music videos already of the singles. Normani was acting like Rihanna, taking forever to drop new music. But the difference is that Rihanna put in the work at the beginning of her career and built a solid and loyal fanbase, who will stick with her through the gaps between her music drops. Plus Rihanna has made herself relatable. Normani has this distant vibe...she's a nice girl but her personality is rather generic. And it almost felt like her fans had to beg her for scraps. I’m coming from a place where she was my favorite in 5H. I knew she was the least vocally talented but I was ok with that because she could perform her ass off. No matter what she always looked the strongest and I valued that and being the only black girl maybe I was a lil biased too. Lol The thing is I began to lose faith once the gaps between the singles and not seeing her online began to happen. I understand cyber bullying but to do this you still have to be seen. Even just posting once or twice a week doing something whether it’s dance or what have you would be a great start. But I always told myself I’m still gonna check out what she does and keep up with her regardless even if my faith had dwindled. I know RCA is a major catalyst of the ball dropping too even with the album rollout. But now that it’s here I can say I adore the album so much. I went into it with no expectations (the album made me like 1:59 and Candy paint more but I think they were the wrong single choices and didn’t like them at first) so I had an open mind and I loooooove so much. Normani was set up to be a Pop Star hence all the big Pop collaborations but when she made it clear she wanted to do RNB, her record label set her up to be a failure hence no budget, performances and videos😢

    Normani is terrible at promoting her own music. She barely posts and uses social media to her full advantage. Saweetie is really good at this because she promotes the heck out of NANi and constantly posts about it on social media.

      Since the fanbase, it's not surprising but Nicki isn't in beef with Normani. They just don't look at each others and it's okay. Artists aren't meant to get along with each other

    So funny how people (majority Nicki Minaj’s barbs 💀 they’re miserable) are so quick to run and clown her whenever she flops or underperforms but constantly uplifts Coco Jones & Victoria Monet 🤔 when they’re both technically flops I don’t care bout them having no Grammy 😒 mind you her streams and sales are more than theirs combined people swear up and down that “On My Mama” is a hit but will call “Motivation” a flop yet both songs peaked at #33 on billboard and “Motivation” sold more mind you she never promoted “Motivation” (except for that 1 VMA performance after the song had died out) unlike Victoria who obviously promoted “On My Mama” also they say “ICU” was a smash but again “ICU” went gold and “Motivation” went platinum 🤦🏽‍♂️ like make it make sense also I like Coco & Victoria and they obviously sing better than Normani but facts are facts 🤷🏽‍♂️ Tyla is another example “Water” was 1 of the biggest hits of the year yet she only did 12k more than Normani like where is the outrage? Also it’s obvious that Tyla is and will remain a 1 hit wonder yet people stay saying she the next Rihanna 😂 it’s the lies for me like the hate Normani gets is just so weird and forced I don’t get it also who cares that the album flopped it’s been on repeat and will stay on repeat I’d rather listen to good music than garbage music just because it’s popular but then again the majority of the world I’m talking like %99.9 🤦🏽‍♂️ does and likes what trends 🤡 thank god I’ve always had my own ideas and have never let the outside noise influence the things I like or my interest

      Y’all need to stop with this nonsense. Every time someone doesn’t do well yall blame it on people being jealous. Honestly speaking very few people would want to be in Norman’s position. Between her personal issues and her career ( or lack there of), there is literally nothing to be envious of. Her peers are doing much better. The people mad at normani are her ex fans that are bitter at how long the album debut took to come out.

That's one of the main problems. It's more than that..!! And since when did ppl become streaming police or FBI..!! Chill, Good lawd..!!

    Normani fans have dragged every single female artist under the sun from, Chloe, Tinashe, Coco jones, Camila, Nicki, Beyonce and more there is not set beef between a certain fanbase so don’t point fingers at barbz and camilizers when multiple fanbases are returning the same energy they dished out first
