  • The BJF-S66 is a solid state amp designed by the Swedish tone Guru himself. Here is a run through of all the settings the amp offers. I'll have more videos up later.
    I'm using my blue Strat with Fatpups pickups. Eminence Allesandro speaker (the preferred speaker to pair with this amp), EQ cables and mic'd with a SM-57.

    Very nice demo. I love OC pedals, and when this came out, I was intrigued. Demos can’t really reveal useful levels for whether or not there is sufficient volume level to comfortably gig (or play in a group context). Your demo really does a nice job of presenting the control functions. The bright switch seems very usable👍. Honestly, could you gig with this? IE, can this 66 watt SS amp generate an equivalent level of say, a Deluxe Reverb, or even Princeton? And, could it be driven through the FX-in by a preamp (ie, Pedal) to get a good clean boost for a bit more level, if needed. Sorry to throw questions, but nice demo😄.

      Hi there! Thank you for the kind words. When paired with the Alessandro, or other efficient speakers that sound good with Blackface style amps, you’ll have plenty if volume to compete with a drummer. Being solid state, there is a little bit of a “mental” adjustment because we are used to having our tube amps at lower volume (I am anyway). This amp can run quietly, but its designed to be used outside of the home, turned up...Leaving some level/tones in your hands with the guitar controls and attack. That said, everyone’s “gigging” is different so your mileage may vary. I’d say it isn’t as loud as a DR if you dimed both amps, but a DR on 4 is gig volume for me. So the OC amp is gig- capable for me. You could likely drive the FX in with a clean boost, but it also offers two channels which are fairly similar with a boost built in. So there are options. I have more videos with pedals as well coming. You’ll see that pedal volume can significantly increase the output too. You can run clean boost right i to the front! Keep an eye out. Hope this helps & you subscribe! Cheers!

      Visual Guy - thanks for the detailed reply! Helps a lot! I’ve always played thru Fender/style amps - old black faces and Allen amps being my favs. BUT, I’ve also tried Quilter, Jazz Club, Ethos Amp... etc. But, I always seem to gravitate back to the tube feel/sound combo. Yes, I’ll be watching for the notification of the add’l demos - looking forward to them👍. Thx - and good job!

      @@barrysebastian9584 "always gravitate back" is something I totally understand. I hope you get the opportunity to try one of these. If so, please come back and let us know your thoughts! Cheers!

      Hi I have used the amp with a loud drummer, no problem at all. If you used it in 4ohms it's super loud!

      Hans Johansson 👍thx Hans... (yours was the first s-66 vid I checked out, actually😄). I have JA SC64 and a couple custom 4 ohm Eminence speakers (Ragin Cajun and Copperhead) I could experiment with. Fortunately, I live pretty close to Eminence, KY😉... but, UNfortunately, I don’t know of anyone close by that carries the amp yet. Cheers!

    good demo. How does it feel? How is the touch sensitivity, does it clean up with a softer attack or when rolling down the volume?

    • @VisualGuy
      @VisualGuy  4 роки тому

      It does react somewhat like a tube amp. Not 100%, but more than most SS amplifiers

      @@VisualGuy What's up? I've got a Jensen 4ohm 100 watt speaker. ..so if I use that, I should be pretty darn loud, right? I just need clean, headroom, for say bar, or bar restaurant 3 piece gigs. Will it cut it?

    • @VisualGuy
      @VisualGuy  3 роки тому

      It will be pretty loud at 4 ohm. I’d say you could get buy, but everyone’s definition of clean headroom is as subjective as tone itself. I think you’ll have enough for that application. All depends on how loud the drummer is haha

      @@VisualGuy Thanks for getting back to me. I have been using a Fender Deluxe 112 Plus for 25 years, i is about 94 RMS..and have never had a problem. It is SS, too..and is REALLY loud. What do you think??

    good demo V-Guy. Thinking of buying one when I see a good used price.
    I have a $10 Hosa footswitch - do you know if that would that work in the channel jack?
    thanks!

      @@VisualGuy Thanks for confirming - something I have been looking for a while and the manual sort of says that you can. I am assuming no speaker sim would be required in this scenario, correct? Thanks for this great demo!

      Whatever your DAW requires. Basically use it as preamp into an interface and then whatever you do i post is up to you. Speaker sims would likely help the toneZ!
