This was deemed to be a pyroclastic flow, which is very very deadly. Super-heated air, volcanic ash, and volcanic bombs are dangers anyone lingering too long in the shadow of the volcano's eruption. Anyone seeing that towering horror behind them should be leaving town as fast as they possibly can without delay. Those who get caught will get cooked (to put it mildly) and the air will be completely unbreathable. Engines will also quit running if they get choked with volcanic ash because on a microscopic scale, volcanic ash is tiny shards of glass with irregular shapes and structures that wreak havoc on tender tissues like lungs, or on machines like cars, and turbine engines.
As Gandalf said before the Balrog dragged him into a fiery death:
"Fly, you fools!"
Inu no Taisho Wow I didn't know that. But yeah they do the same during a hurricane. Surfing, standing outside where a debri can kill them... Stupid! The Gandalf joke lol
Do you own a Balrog?
Also it can mummify you like in Pompeii
I was going to say, is that what was towards the end of the video? That stuff travels fast too right?
People don’t realize that this is the most deadly type of volcano eruption. Not only can it travel faster than a car, but when it hits you you’re dead. I feel lucky to know that information despite the fact that I will probably never need it.
People filming a completely unpredictable 700 degree celsius pyroclastic flow from up close... wtf?
Btw Guardian, thanks for not using 'pyroclastic flow' and 'lava flow' interchangeably like most others. They're NOT the same.
Because the idiot who thought a cool youtube clip more important than his own life got away unscathed. That in turn gave us really cool footage and I love everything volcano, so of course I'll watch it. Doesn't make their action any less stupid.

Cameraman never dies
It's very disturbing to see people fleeing from the ash clouds even though deep down they know that they can never outrun it
How do you think we got the footage though? These people lived
@@rai4119 They were in the vehicle; obviously not the people fleeing on foot from the pyroclastic flow.
I know this is all very sad and horrifying but a colossal wall of scorching ash of pure death is heading towards people and their first instinct is " oh boy, better grab my camera"? I'm not hating on those people, im not sure i woundn't do the same at some point, but for chirst sake not right in front of the thing, anyway...my feelings to these poor people and their families... :'(
André de Andrade agree.😢
There’s not much more they can do it’s unreasonable to think they can out run it

Life is more important than filming that moment.

I don't think the pyroclastic flow is completely unpredictable, as it will flow through valleys just like fluid would, but when you're on a bridge that gets burried moments later, and everything probably smells like rotten eggs, not moving away in the opposite direction as fast as you can is some major dipshittery.
Damn what a power
Deadly too. How terrifying!
That's how nature thanks us for all we've been doing
Everyone complaining about them standing there filming it but here they are watching a video of people filming it THONK
So many experts in the comment section, so little time
Dimitris Chloupis best comment in years!!! 👏🏽🤣🤣🤣
I was filming then I died
Rest In Piece to you
Nobody questioning how he commented this ? 🤔😂
This look straight. Out of a movie ...!!! AMAZING!!
I agree.. people are more interested in filming the pyroclastic wave than their own safety. se arriesgaron muchisimo. Patty, Guatemala
This teaches us a lesson that Americans are not the only dumb asses in this world. If something life threatening was filmed in the us we would never hear the end of it. Maybe we all have technology and this is what peaple do today they take pictures so get over yourselves and God bless everybody instead of name calling all the time cause it gets old fast.
THAT VOLCANO I CALL IS *-TWISTED-*

They ain't outrunning that
The people still laughing
